My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Was a bit worried bout staying here but needn't have worried! It was lovely!
The staff were friendly to us and the food was cheap and tasty. When we arrived our room wasnt ready so they let us use the courtesy room to get changed in and put our cases in left luggage so we could hit the beach! The pool area was always clean although they told you off for drinking or eating your own stuff bought outside the complex!! Everyone was really friendly, there was a good atmosphere round the pool, everyone having a laugh! The rooms were basic but always clean and the location was spot on, a stone's throw from the beach and loads of restaurants and bars right outside the door! Magaluf is only a 5 min walk max, we never got a taxi the entire time we were there!! For a cheap supermarket, turn right outside the hotel and follow the road up and you'll come to a massive hypermarket up some steps, mega cheap!!
Have fun and enjoy yourself, we certainly did!

This was our 1st holiday (girls) we had a good time.
Saga Nova was a basic appartment with rubbish AIR CON.you have to keep all the doors and windows shut for the air con to work but still it didn't realy work. The appartments was mixed age and lots of friendly people and lovley staff who helped out wen ever they could (wen u needed it). i love my hol it was amazing more for young teens in magaluf than in plama nova.the appartments were always clean and u could leave you belongings any where in your room and always know they be there wen you get bk very trustworthy staff.
the area its self was lovely and realy nice people.we went to the same resturants all the time 2 of them one called kompas which is realy ood food and cheap.the beach was lovely with lots to do water sports and there is always a bar wen u need it.the supermarket nxt to saga nova was a big rip off there prices was robbing.
we loved this hol and would go bk again but any one going for the nite life i would go for a week it just to much anything else and stay away from the VOKDA it makes you ill and the cigs smoke lambert lights there not as strong.but overall we had amazing hol and the apartments were up to our standard and always clean.... july 2006...

The hotel was very basic and as stated by previous people the beds are a very stange set up of two sofa beds with rollout beds underneath! One thing I will say for it was that it was very clean and were only disturbed by the maids once.
As we left we even discovered a toaster in the cupboard. The Air con was a real blessing no sleepless nights due to being too hot.
The only problem we had was when we arrived was they had no room for us and had to get our own taxi to another of the chains hotels nearer Magaluf at 3.30am.
We got drunk the next day while watching the England and Sweden games only to be told we had to return to the Saga Nova as it had been for one night only which no one had explained.
The other comment I will make about a majority of the staff is they do not seem to stay near their posts as they seem to be more interested in everyone elses jobs!
If you don't expect more than very basic you will be fine with this hote!

After reading all the reports of these apartments, I was a bit apprehensive!! The rooms were spot on with air con working and cleaned regularly. The only problem was the neighbours who made a right racket when they got in about 5a.m. Loads of beds round the pool cause the 'young un's' don't get up till late!! If you don't like big groups of young people havin fun...don't go here!! We found everyone all rite once they chucked a couple of them out!! It is in a great location with the beach, bars and rest'rants close by. You can stroll into Magaluf.
The hotel staff were fine especially the big fella,Leo! Lively place kept the boredom away!!

banana's joes is a must if ya want a night out and take the kids
we also enjoyed going to kompas for food cheap and the staff are funny and have a laugh with you.
we went to western water park which was great, only drwback is that if ya get a locker you can only go back to 3 times and then ya have to pay again or get your things, so its a good idea to get a sun lounger or take someone thats not wanting to go on most of the slides.
the glass bottom boats were ok too but dont expect to see mush as ya either in the deep and the water rushes by that fast that ya cant see anything or in the shallow and there aint many fish there.
palma nove i would say isnt that much for little children or if your a light sleeper as lots of groups of lads and lasses go with just one thing in mind DRINK. so if easily offended dont go in july or august.
we enjoyed it that much that we will be back next year but for a fornight and hiring a car to go inland to see more of the sites.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
As this was our first girlie holiday and none of us had ever been to magaluf before we didn't really know what to expect! I'm glad we actually stayed in Palma Nova as you can get a better night's sleep there, and it is only a 10 minute walk into the magaluf strip itself (or 3euro taxi before midnight!)
The saga nova is very basic. The rooms were far to small for all of us as there was harldy no room to move around. However this didn't really bother us as we were never actually in our rooms. We got put on the 3rd floor with all the other young people so nobody complained when we played our music loud. I wouldn't really recomend this place to families as it's full of young people really which suited us fine!
The cleaners pissed us off as they only changed ur towels every other day and never gave enough for the 5 of us to share!
The staff in general were very moody when we strolled in at about 7am every morning, lol. The night receptionist needed a smack and was not amuzed when we all went skinny dipping in the pool on our last night at 5am in the morning!
The hotel 'entitainment' was awful!! seriosuly. We called her Evil, she used to wake us up every morning to play water polo! We were not amuzed at all.
Palma Nova itself is very quiet compared to magaluf, however there are a couple of bars there. We only ever went to the 2 banana joes there (we would highley recomend this!) amazing staff there, free drinks, brilliant music, and a good place to start off b4 hitting magaluf itself!
The beach in Palma Nova is only a 2 minute walk away. It's a lovely beach.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Me and my friends stayed in the Saga Nova. We were pleasantly suprised, considering it is only classed as a 2 star hotel, it has a lot to offer. Theres a main reception with a seating area, childrens entertainment (which to be honest looked pretty pants), bar, large tv with tables and chairs and a small pool with sun loungers. There is food available, nothing special but enough to soak up the beer from the night before. The rooms themselves are basic but clean, and best of all theres air conditioning, which will be needed. The only let down in the room was the strange beds which were more like small sofa's.
The pool is small and very busy with kids playing water polo, so if you sit too near the pool you'll either get hit several times or be forced to join in.
Parma Nova itself is nice, there are lots of resturants and cafes were you can get a good meal for a cheap price. The beaches are very clean but also very hot!
The reason we stayed there was of course for Magaluf, we were only a small walk along the front to Magaluf or about 3 euros in a taxi. Magaluf was fantastic, the best nights I had were in BCM, but there are loads of other good bars to go to, but avoid car wash and poco loco unless your 15. Magaluf was also great in the day, its suprisingly clean and the beaches are great, there were some really nice resturants too, but if you're on a budget theres plenty of KFC's about.
This is definately somewhere I'd come back to again and hope to soon.

me and my friend went to meet our other two friends who had already been staying at the Saga Nova the week before we arrived, (which meant they knew the best and worst places to go)
i was a bit surpised when we arrived as the apartments dont have a bedroom its two pull out beds in the living room, but we didnt mind we only had to sleep in the room.
At the Saga Nova there is three floors as far as i could gather if you are young you will be put on the top floor(out of the way)people with children were on the first floor, the pool was very small and as we were not getting up until 11am there was never any sun beds left (buying a lilo is the best bet if you want to relax) although there were alot of children in the pool in the day.
food was quite good, newspapers 2 euros each (quite expensive) if you change your money in the hotel for every 50 euros you change they will take 1 euro for themselves. Maids come in every day and they dont care if your still fast asleep they will wake you.
The worst point was you were not allowed to keep on your room, all rooms have to be vacated by 12 noon (NOT very good if your flights at midnight) there is a room to keep your baggage and a shower room (what you have to que for)
BCM is definatly the best place if you want a good night out. Lady Dianas do excellent steak and Lamb, (but theres a dodgy singer who makes his own words up to songs)
Overall me and my friends had an excellent holiday and i personally would definatly go back there.

Wow what a holiday!! we travelled with Just but as our hotel had freestyle reps we did everything with them and they were great especially Pete - the guy is a full legend!! The hotel was basic but what we needed! it was far enough out of magaluf to be able to sleep but it was only a ten min walk to all clubs like BCM and Boomerang. taxis are so cheap we got 1 nearly every night. the location was great we had supermarkets all around us! if you leave the hotel and go left down the sea front you reach mcdonalds, carry on and you get the 54 hole crazy golf which is worth a visit!
All the staff in the hotel are great, the bar staff are crazy and make you laugh, Michelle the daytime entertainment lady was good she try's really hard to get you to play darts and pool and eat piella on tuesdays!! the cleaners and maids could not speak good english but were all great and we had conversations with them nearly every day!! The pool area is a bit small and its hard to get a sunbed when the hotel is full. Some nights it was a bit loud when everyone was coming home, so i wouldnt stay there with kids, couples and teenagers will love it!!!!
Cheap and Cheerfull is the way forward!! i will DEFFO be back next year!

what can i say?best holiday i've ever had!firstly must say it's NOT SUITABLE FOR ANY ONE OVER THE AGE OF ABOUT 30 or ANYONE WITH YOUNG CHILDREN.the place was full of excitement.although it took us about 25 minutes to get in to the room,at least it was clean and tidy!the appartments are full of people between the age of 18 and 21 when we went.it was great cos we could come and go as we pleased like everyone else so most people usually came in at 6 am(hence why its not suitable for families with young children)the staff were friendly and helpful.
they are loads of shops near by and although the night life is in magaluf.its always good to start at banana joes just next door to the saga nova!palma nova was clean n a taxi from magaluf back to the hotel after you're plastered is about 3-5 euro.
i enjoyed it!the resort was clean and the accomedation was cheap. the food on the hotel's menu was very cheap too! it was ok but for £3 you go more than you could eat. although there are a chain of resturants next door (i shall recommend the one playing only fools n horses all day everyday!)there is also a pizza place next door which comes in handy after a walk back forom the clubs!8 euro for the largest pizza ive ever seen!
overall good holiday! so if you sdo go to saga nova... you'll enjoy it!

Resort is great in October for sunning yourself on the various beaches local buses are great for getting into Palma and elsewhere, do the boat trip to Palma dont bother with the market on saturday . take the bus to the train station and get the soller train, eat in soller town and take the tram to the port great day out.
If hiring a car try eating in one of the big roadside restaurants choose the menu dish normally 3 courses with wine dirt cheap just watch you dont get food poisoning.Kompass cafe in Palma nova 100 metres from apartments is good value 3 euros for pizza. walk around the area and you will find lots of good bars (most showing only fools and horses 24 hours a day for some reason) come out of apartments turn left then right follow road for about a mile and you will find BCM and leapy lee in magaluf .dont go for more than a week take loads of money and dont forget the immodium etc oh by the way the apartments are extremly noisy and dont buy your newspaper there have fun!!

We went to the Saga Nova in September we thought that all the staff were very friendly, even the maids.Although we felt that the maid service could have been a bit better eg: towels and bedding changed more often, and the floors being brushed and mopped!!
The accomidation i would recommend to a young and lively group looking for a hotel to 'sleep only'. Being a couple we wasn't very impressed with being put up in a studio with one pull out single bed and two couches to sleep on! That was such a let down, the apartments were very basic.
The resort itself was lovley and there was some very nice places to eat try thr Lady Diana put not when its choca as the services lacks.
Overall a nice two week brake but wouldnt go back there.

The Saga Nova apartments are nice and the rooms are cleaned on a daily basis the staff at the hotel are extremely friendly. This was our third year staying at the saga nova it is conve3nient to shops bars and the beach is a two minute walk from the apartments. My only complainy about these apartments are if you stay in the studio it is only two single sofas to sleep on which is not good for a coulple and they are not very comfortable.
Overall I always ahve a fantastic holiday here and you must try the bar Banana Joes which is right next door to the apartments.

Hey guys and gals!We had the 'pleasure' of staying at the saga nova apartments when we went to Magaluf in July.
As it was our first chicks holiday we all were estatic when we arrived as you can imagine. When we first got our keys and went to see our rooms we spent 5mins trying to get the door opened as it was such a challenging task thankfully the security guard lingering about(as he always did as we were to find out!)he had to do a karate move to get it open.
That night we had our music blasting ovo but it did say we could until 12o'clock in the brochure WHEN kung foo kid himself came and told us we were getting a warning and to turn it OFF!!! This was a re-occuring thing and the maid woke us up about 1 hr after getting in with her Spanish rendition of Sex Bomb.We even had the manager come up to our room and take a picture of it as they said it was so untidy that 'Tom Jones' couldn't get in. I mean their were 3 of us in it and we're teenagers what did they expect?
As their is a RULE that no one is allow to bring anyone back 'Tom Jones' decided that boys we met who stayed across from us were guests and decided also to take on the role of Chris Eubank and tryed to lay him out!!!
Apart from all this we do have to say that the pool was an okay size and the beach is only about 5mins down the road.It is also surrounded in shops to get grub and their a great eating place just next door to the shop that we do recommend. The main srip is only 2mins in a taxi which only costs 2euros or to walk it is about 10mins(sober)/ 30mins(steamin).I would say if ur 17 to 21 this place aint for u unless u don't mind not bringing folk back or getting woke up at the crack of dawn. But if that's for u enjoy!
We have to say though it was fun being hated, dodging the security, playing loud music, having water/pasta fights, nearly getting evicted and being crazy like old Maurice!!!

well, all i can say is take some earplugs if you want some sleep.the room was very basic.sofabeds are very uncomfy.we had a top floor and had t go out 3/4 times a night to tell young lads to shut up,banging on doors, playing hide n seek at 3 in morning, being sick every where and the security didnt want t know.the maid service could have been better as well.the floor was swept once while we were there.
besides that, the bar was nice and the pool was lovely,if you were a group of lads wanting to get drunk and carry on.its perfect.
palma nova is lovely the beach is so clean
a visit to western water park is a must,it is excellent for kids.plenty of bars, but kids have to be out of most by 10.oclock,which is a bit of a pain.
magaluf is not very nice for kids this time of year.it is full of lagerlouts and idiots.
all in all though,we enjoyed it as there was a few of us,but i wouldnt stay at saga nova, and i wouldnt stay in magaluf if i came again.also watch those trying to sell you something, chains, etc,my bro got his phone pickpocketed by them.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
We arrived at the Saga Nova on the 2nd May and were the first customers of the season so initially the complex was very quiet but it soon got busier as the week went on. Although there were only 2 of us we hired a 1 bedroomed apartment rather than a studio and I would advise this as the studios seemed very cramped and you had to pull sofa beds out of the settee which didn't leave a lot of room in the studio. The walls in the apartment seemed very thin, and initially at night I was woken up on several occasions by people returning home and pulling out their beds. To solve this problem I hired a fan which not only cooled the bedroom but blocked out the noise.
The complex itself and the staff were excellent. Entertainment is run by a really nice Russian guy called Stas who was always trying to get everyone to join in the games. This was his first season and as the complex was not full we felt obliged to help him out and join in some of the games There was a couple of "gala nights" which were again Russian entertainers and even Stas seemed embarrassed by the quality of their performance. Hopefully as the season progresses this might get better. The bar staff were very friendly and made sure you enjoyed yourself.
Two thirds of the apartments overlook the pool with the other third overlooking waste ground at the side of the hotel. The reception area is very nice with plenty of settees and there is also a drinks terrace by the side of the pool. Cooking facilities in the apartments were fairly basis as in most apartments but the toaster was really handy in the mornings. There seemed enough sunbeds by the pool area, but with the beach only being a couple of minutes away a lot of people used to spend their time there. There is air conditioning in the lounge which was fairly poor and went off once you opened your patio doors.
The apartments are very central for shops, restaurants and the beach. As you come out of the apartments and turn right, if you walk for about 5 minutes there is a large supermarkets which is a lot cheaper than the local Spars etc. It is worth going there to stock up on your essentials as some of the prices are 50% cheaper than the small supermarkets nearer the apartments.
If you come out of the apartments and turn left to the corner, this is where timeshare touts are in full force! They seemed to be connected to the bar Castaways, and we used to go in the bar next door, have a cool beer and watch them at work seeing how many people they could con - very entertaining.
All in all it was a very enjoyable holiday - in Palma Nova you can make your holiday as relaxing or hectic as you want. We would certainly return to the Saga Nova apartments again, probably in May but only in a 1 bedroomed apartment.

Firstly Palma Nova was class, the beach, the bars and the nightlife, but the Saga Nova was rather appaling, the rooms were cramped and very unattractive, the staff were extremely rude except for those behind the bar, the maids and receptionists were all very arrogant. Each morning my friends and I would notice something was missing, maybe some money or clothes, but when we complained we were evicted from the hotel into another. So if you are going to Mallorca avoid the Saga Nova you will be disappointed.

The Saga Nova Apartments were ideal for us. As a young group of girls we wanted to be near the nightlife, which was only a 5 minute walk or 2 minute taxi ride, but on the other hand we wanted our days to be relaxing and not as hectic. The Saga Nova was excellently placed for our requirements. The nearest beach was a 2 minutes stroll and all the shops we needed were even closer.
The actual apartments were also very good. The pool area was a good size and there was also a pool bar serving really nice food. The only slight niggle we had was the size of the rooms, as we didn't have separate bedrooms but as we were hardly there it didn't matter to us! I think they did have apartments with bedrooms but we found ours a little crowded. It didn't however put a dampener on the best holiday we have had. Highly recommended!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Firstly, a little about the Hotel. Very clean and well presented. Meals - plenty of variety and well prepared. Rooms - very pleasant, all have sea view which is a bonus, and the outlook from the balconies is stunning. All essentials are catered for at this Hotel, you can hire ironing boards, fans, irons etc. from the small shop inside the foyer of the Hotel. Never went into the Lounge but there was entertainment on every night. The cocktail bar we visited a couple of times, found it rather boring.
The only down side to this Hotel, the quests queing at some unearthly hour on a morning to place their towels on the sunbeds so don't even think about trying to get round the pool unless you want to queue. The quests of this Hotel also carry on this tradition down at the beach they even put their towels on the sunbeds there. Pathetic!!!! some don't even appear then until midday. I find this totally selfish behaviour. Nevertheless it did not spoil our holiday.
The beach in Palma Nova is fabulous white sand and clear seas. The outlook when sat on your sunbed is excellent with all the yachts in the bay. 9euros for 2 beds and beach tree(which is your umberella).
Beware of the fruit sellers, whatever you do DO NOT buy from them they were ripping the tourists off terribly while we were there charging anything between 7euros to 15euros for the thinest slice of melon you have ever seen. The Police try to clamp down, every so often you will see one of the sellers hide down in the sand as the Police are patrolling. They caught quite a few while we were there. The sellers also pretend to go for change if you give them a note but guess what you don't see your note or change again.
There are plenty of bars/restaurants to choose from and if you fancy an "eye opener" have a stroll into Magaluf. It is more for the younger end but still plenty of bars where they make you welcome and you can have a drink and people watch. We went a couple of times to Magaluf but came away before all the young crowd started to haunt the bars. Oh to be young again!
All in all had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday, would I go back - I can honestly say yes I would and to the same hotel.

Have just returned from our 7th stay at the Santa Lucia.
Prior to this visit we stayed in November 2006. We cannot fault this hotel or the staff and facilities in any way.On entering the hotel the decor and cleanliness is very appealing. The staff are extremely helpful and pleasant. The rooms are very attractive and the views from every room are breathtaking as they all face the sea.The beds are very comfortable. The food is excellent with a very wide choice and always piping hot. The entertainment is first class and the entertainment team Erwin and Sonia are very friendly. We holiday in other resorts but always opt to come back here as it is probably the best hotel on the island. As we were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary our daughter and her husband and 8 year old son also came with and they were all very impressed.
The only possible down side was as it was still only February Palma Nova and Magaluf was a lot quieter. But we will still look forward to our next stay hopefully very soon

We have just returned from a one week winter break at the Santa Lucia Hotel in Palma Nova, Majorca.
The Hotel was excellent, plenty of room in the twin bedded room even with the extra bed in for our 7 year old daughter. Room cleaned to an excellent standard with towels changed every day.
All public areas, including Restaurant and toilets very clean and tidy.
The food at the Hotel was excellent, plenty of choice from soups, salads, cold and hot selection in the evenings and an excellent buffet choice for breakfast in the mornings. All food was cooked well of good quality and hot. We were very lucky the weather was hot enough for sunbathing buy the fabulous outdoor pool (but the pool was too cold to swim in) but we did make full use of the heated indoor pool, sauna and steam room.
All the staff were very helpful and polite and the evening entertainment was very good, bingo, dancing and live entertainment each night.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone, we had a fabulous week, very quiet resort whilst we were there which suited us, but could imagine the resort would be very busy in the high season.

The day we arrived there were approx. 400 guests to book in, although there was a large queue, the staff handled it well and we had approx. 20mins wait. We had room 512 which faced the Son Matius beach - we had the sun right up till 5pm on our balcony, whereas if you are facing the Palma Nova beach you only had the sun up till 2/2.30pm - so ask for a pool view - this will get you on the right side of the hotel!
Our room had a lovely en-suite with newish quality tiles from floor to ceiling. The shower was the best I've ever had on any holiday - no problems with the pressure or the facilities at all.
The food was well cooked and there was a good variety every night - choices from veal, pork, steak, fish every night + a carvery most nights too. The breakfasts were just the norm, but there was british links/bacon every day - some hotels vary it on alternate days.
There are 3 lifts - they are a tadge slow, but again, no problems there.
The main entertainment lounge is large and has ample comfy chairs. There is a cocktail lounge with folk/guitar music/singers every evening from 11.30 - 1pm ; this incidently is a smoking zone too - so it's ok if you're a smoker.
The staff were friendly and helpfuly - no problems at all.

We went to this Hotel because we had heard it was so good for years, well it has now been took over with a new group and to us the place is like a mad house, Kids with not a thing to do up and down at midnight, The food was always cold.I did go and tell the managment but made no diffrence, And the reps desk was the most used place in the hotel. The ammount of food that was un touched was untrue, The rooms dont get done till 3pm it is the most boring place we have been to, The music was from the ark one night it was all the old war songs, I ask you do you wonder why the young kids were running up and down with not one thing for them to do,

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
First off the hotel was very nice, first impressions staff were very helpful, offering to take our bags as soon as we arrived and let us have some food before showing us to our room. Once in our room we found out that we had to pay for the fridge and safe seperately which was not mentioned when booking. Also found out that the hotel is a 4 T not a 4 star, still for being a 3 star it was imaculate. The balcony, very private, looked onto one of majorcas best beaches.
Rooms were cleaned very well everyday and if you ran out of any toiletries at any time new ones could be provided. Worst thing about the room was the air conditioning, if that's what you want to call it, took all night just to cool the room and by then we were back out enjoying the sun. The was a variety of food every day, you always got your basics like salad and chips. Unfortunately you were expected to pay 5 euros or more for a drink during your half board meals, we decided this was too much and started bringing in our own drinks which was not complained about until the last day.
From other reviews probably clear that the sunbeds were extremely popular, but there was an odd chance of you getting one during the day. The Swimming pool was good but not big enough to accomodate half the guests, kept very clean and also an inside pool.
It's definately a family hotel but we didnt feel out of place, the only down side of this location for families is it's pretty much in magaluf- 50 yards down the street and your in magalufs clubbing scene.
All in all it's worth the 3 stars maybe more if your used to that.

booked for 2 wks,10th-24 June 2006.
First time at this hotel hotel, great location, very nice staff.room was kept clean, the only problem we had was we were in room 712 which is an adjoining room.Which I would recommend to anyone without a family, make sure at time of booking you request not to have an adjoining room, our first week was Ok even though there was a couple next door with a young son who made no noise. The second week was a different couple, which changed things (approx same age as us)you could hear every word that was said (everything). this got to be unbearable, especially at 1 o'clck in the morning and telly going as well.I ended up stuffing round door with toilet paper and magazines at the bottom, which made a vast difference.Maybe I should have complained, but not in my nature. So if you end up with an adjoining room, either ask to be moved or think about the neighbours!
Although this is my negative veiw,I would certainly go back but to a different room.
The resort& hotel is certainly worth going to.I found that Thomsons tours, was a rip off.The west coast encounter that they fail to mention,is not advisable for the less mobile.
All in all it was still a good holiday.I intend to return, and back to the same hotel.

Just back from one week at this excellent hotel which is one we will definitely return to.
Fantastic sea views from our room and probably most of the others judging by its location. The food was very good and plenty of it but it seemed a bit lukewarm - it could have been hotter. The staff in the dining room and on reception were very efficient. All the areas in the hotel were very clean and well maintained and the swimming pool was lovely and looked out onto the beach. (Just a point to note - at 8.00 am when the entrance to the pool area is opened, watch out for the long line of people - all Brits - queing across reception to put their towels on the sun loungers!). There is no hope of getting a sun bed later in the day. There is a very good team of Thomson reps in the Hotel at various times throughout the day.
The entertainment in the hotel was quite good actually, there was a main act on every night (Blues Brothers and Elvis tribute acts very entertaining) but not much else to amuse the guests in the evenings. Palma Nova itself is a very nice place with wide pedestrian promenades and good beaches. The local buses are a good mode of transport to get around and they look almost brand new. There were about four buses alone that went to Palma which you can catch on the main road.
All in all, we would recommend this hotel and the resort of Palma Nova for a good all round holiday for all ages. It can be as quiet or as lively as you want it to be.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Location is wonderful, right on the fabulous beach. A flat promenade runs along the beach and offers easy access to a wide range of bars, shops and restaurants. I am pleased to say that both beaches either side of the hotel offer wheelchair access. Also provided is a large flat decked area with sun shade, float-chairs for access to the sea and a selection of crutches designed for use on the beach. Life guards are on duty and it would seem they are happy to assist less mobile holidaymakers. Accessible toilets are close by. Well done to Palma Nova!!
Rooms are small, basic and a little dated but very clean. Every noise you make can be heard by your neighbours, be warned!! A safe and fridge can be hired. Balconies on both sides of hotel overlook a lovely beach. Pool-side rooms get the sun all day, not sure if that is a good thing as the rooms can get very hot even with air conditioning. A small number of disability adapted rooms for a max of two guests are available on the first floor.
Reception in small and can be a very smoky unpleasant place. Two computers offer internet access. Two playstation systems are installed but were not working during our visit. (Unbeknown to my son I was pleased that they were not working, would you want your child to sit in a very smoky reception to use the playstation for an hour or so???)
Lifts have a will of their own, there are three of them but they are very slow, best to ask for a room on a lower floor that you can access via the stairs. Wheelchair users can access the lifts but they are too small to accommodate a regular/large sized scooter.
It's a shame that the hotel still allows smokers in every public area despite it being against the new laws in Spain. Don't bother to complain - no one is interested. Fortunately, most bars/restaraunts in Palma Nova adhere to the regulations and allow smoking only in outside areas.
A small shop in reception sells gifts and essentials you may have forgotten. Also kettles, beach accessories, wheelchairs and mobility scooters can be hired from the shop.
There is a small cocktail bar with TV. Nice if you smoke not pleasant place if you don't. A larger modern lounge offers a bar and entertainment area. In here there are sections of seating for non-smokers, all of which are on a raised level that does not offer easy access for wheelchair users. Entertainment was variable in standard. Some shows were very good whilst others were absolutely dire. There is also a quiet room for guest to play cards and board games.
Non smoking dinning room was very busy, I dread to think what it would be like in high season. Little room to manoeuvre a mobility scooter or larger wheelchair. No consideration given to accessing food by independent wheelchair-dependant guests. (Gentlemen are required to wear long trousers in the dinning room.)
Breakfast is the same food every day, dinner has more variation. Overall the quality of food is not good. Leftovers are always recycled. The selection offered for children was utter rubbish, chips and fried food every time. I don't understand why they try to cook British food, it never turns out as it should, why not serve up tasty local dishes instead?
The outside pool area was far too cramped, not nearly enough sunbeds for the size of the hotel. There is a bar serving drinks and snacks. There is also a tiny games area with a pool table. The indoor pool with jacuzzi was a wasted space as it was never used by anyone - too cold, although it was supposed to be heated! A further sunbathing terrace is located on the first floor. I didn't check it out as I could not get up the steps.
As previously mentioned in other reviews, many of the guests are elderly. There are a few very young children and a sprinkling of teenagers. As far as I could tell all guest are British.
OVERALL
An average 3* hotel in a very good location. Didn't notice any better quality hotels in Palma Nova. So Santa Lucia is probably one of the better hotels available in the area. Thomsons should adjust their brochure ratings of the hotel to an honest 3*!
Palma Nova itself is ideal for a family, fun beach holiday. It felt safe even late at night. Police are very visible around the resort. Less mobile holidaymakers will enjoy the flat resort and accessible beach/sea.
I would definitely visit Palma Nova again, but possibly self-catering in an apartment.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
This was our second visit , we last came in june 03 same weeks . We had a fab time back then . This time however , although we did enjoy ourselves , we were a little disappointed in some of the changes that have taken place. The hotel seems to cater more for the elderly guest whereas before they did a little something for everyone. My little girl used to love the mini disco each night and was looking forward to repeating this on this holiday. Unfortunately , we were told by Erwin (the new entertainment person ) that mini discos were only in july and august !!! well they had them last time we were there in june and prev reviews have mentioned them . Needless to say the poor kids (ans there were quite a few of them ) were bored of the ballroom and sequence dancing !!!!! a little of something to suit everyone wouldnt go amis . Erwin was too stuck in his ways and wouldnt be swayed.
The daytime activities however were great , sonia as ever is great with young and old alike.
The resort was just as I remember it , beautiful beaches (son matias the best ) bars and restaurants .
We took the boat to palma again 15 euros which is a great trip out .
marineland a bit of a let down - not much there , dolphin show was good tho.
Be careful when you arrive in reception though as you do get some opportunists come in on arrival day and try to steal handbags - 1 poor lady had hers stolen with 1500 euros , passports and tickets in .
Hotel staff still friendly , rooms made up daily . lovely views .
Food ok bit bland and some strange concotions but eatable we didnt go hungry . Only critisism not enough choice on kids menu and sometimes kids stuff was quite cold.
Go to Fantasia (crazy golf ) specailly at night when its lit up - for under 10 euros per adult you get all 3 courses.
Jungle Jims is a great bar to eat with the kids during daytime its on san matias beach just by the hawaii hotel - great couple own it and good with kids .
Chocolate fudge cake and ice cream YUMMMMM
all in all a brill place - would definately go back but probably not to the santa lucia will find somewhere kid freindly !!!!!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
We stayed at the Santa Lucia after booking last minute. If you want a really spotless, friendly hotel with guaranteed sea views this one is for you. Yes, it does cater for older holiday makers but as a result the hotel is kept at a high standard. No excessive noise at night. Some people want to relax. If you want to be lively go out. There are lots of bars about and Magaluff is 10 mins stroll away.
The beaches on the doorstep are beautiful. I am fair skinned and hired a parasoll for 5 E for the week from the hotel shop which I must say hires out chairs, sunbeds and lots more at very good prices. Check it out.
The food at the hotel was very good and a good variety was had by all. You could always make a lovely meal but don't expect to eat as you would at a restaurant. It can be a little noisy with the waitresses constantly setting tables and clearing but there is no way around this at a large hotel really. At breakfast the juices are fowl only because they mix them with cordial and have it too strong. The way around this is to add water and it fine. Do take a travel kettle or hire one if you like a cup of hot coffe/tea. Like America, they don't seem to get it hot enough.
For the price we paid it was an excellent holiday. If you have booked - no worries!

Back for the third time to the Santa Lucia on an unbeatable group offer, so what's changed?
Not a lot at all, I'm delighted to say! Many of the same staff are still there; Rosa and the gorgeous Wilma in the restaurant in particular.
The food has gone downhill very slightly since our last visit a year ago - not hot enough, today's roast beef is tomorrow's goulash and the day after's cottage pie, but all in all it's still PDG.
We went to all our usual haunts; The Three Brothers, The Office, White Horse, Mrs Doyles (Mick The Fiddler - FANTASTIC show!), and Alexandra's to see the rock God Jonathan and his Bass-playing Goddess Caroline, aka HOOCHED - do NOT miss these absolute rockin' geniuses.
Found a new (to us anyway) Eat-and-Drinkery at The Willows, past Golf Fantasia just before the harbour. You must try the Champagne Sangria (10 E) and the utterly delicious Spicy Cheese Nachos - DROOL!
Yes, it's full of elderly folks, yes they do sequence dancing and play Bingo (or Ole), but Magaluf is only 10 minutes walk away, and Alexandra's is only about 30 mins if you stop at the White Horse for Happy Hour 2 for 1 drinks!!
Don't stay anywhere else when you are in Majorca!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
I have just come back from a week break at the Santa Lucia hotel in Palma Nova, Mallorca. I stayed with my wife and my 8 month old daughter. My overall impression of the hotel was excellent.
After reading several other reviews on this, and other sites. I was naturally a little concerned about the hotel, staff, food, swimming pool and the attitude of guest towards young children. I need not have worried. From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel has 8 floors and is situated on a headland, directly in the centre of Palma Nova. It appeared, that no matter in which room you stayed, there would have a sea view. Our room was located over the car park area and yet the view was fantastic. The room itself was nice and clean and was pleased to note the hotel had prepared a cot for my daughter.
Food in the hotel is aimed primarily at the english guests. Especially breakfast. For example, at breakfast, there were some continental options but was mainly geared up for the bacon, sausage, beans, egg and omelette eaters of the world. Dinner time was a lot better and the choice was wider. The food was nice but perhaps a touch bland. Either way, we choose to eat in the hotel every night and was satisfied. I would point out that the restaurant staff are amazing and very friendly. Especially towards children.
Because of the time of the year, we were told to expect a hotel full of OAP's who would hiss and snarl at a younger couple with a child. This was not the case and in fact, totally opposite. The other guests were mainly over 50's but there was a lovely atmosphere within the hotel and again, we never tired of people fussing over our daughter. So despite previous reviwes. Do not worry about bringing your child to this hotel.
The entertainment in the hotel was well supported by other guests and was quite ammusing. Perhaps it is more suited for an older crowd but was enjoyable none the less. There is a daytime kids club and the kids seemed to enjoy the games.
There are 2 swiiming pools at the hotel. An indoor heated pool and an outside pool. The outside pool was very cold. But personally i liked it that way !
As mentioned the hotel is located on a headland and as such is located directly on the beach in a perfect location.
I fully recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to go back. I don't particuarly have any grumbles. Maybe, the lifts come have been a little quicker but that would be it.

We booked on a Thomson price breakers and I am really glad we were allocated to the Santa Lucia. It was very handy to everything without being noisy and fully deserved its 3 stars if not more. In fact we have stayed at 4 stars which were far inferior.
We were allocated a room on the top floor and had a marvellous view over the bay although we did not get the sun on that side on our balcony.Ask for a pool view if you want to sit out a lot on your balcony.
However someone else who was on our side asked to move and they did it without bother but we were content with our view as there was plenty of room for sunbathing on the terraces.
We hired a car quite reasonably from an exchange place just over the road for 5 days and toured the island enjoying paguera and the caves of drach. For the price it was one of the best holidays we have had and would reccomend this hotel to anyone.

Just returned from another fabulous holiday at this Hotel. Some of the previous comments have been rather negative but we have nothing but praise. There is absolutely nothing to complain about. We chose to take a taxi from the airport to the Hotel which meant we were first in the queue for booking into the hotel. We requested a low floor and next to the lift because my wife is disabled and all this was taken into account. The room was comfortable with plenty of wardrobe space, a nice big bathroom and a pleasant balcony looking over the sea. The food was excellent with nothing the same the two weeks we were there. Plenty to choose from, catering for all types of needs. If we had a complaint it would be perhaps water could be provided with the evening meal instead of having to buy it each night.
The welcome party with the reps was very informative as was the leaving party, telling everybody what to expect on their departure. We didn't go on any of the trips, only Son Amar the night club and we upgraded to the gold option, which was dearer but gave us a better seat and a better meal, this is not to be missed. Again we had a taxi from the hotel to the airport which saved a lot of hastle with the coach and meant we were one of the first in the airport queue. The flight both ways was excellent, both being on time.
We will have no hestitation in booking this holiday next year.

We returned again this year with our grandaughter, this was 7 visit to the hotel, nothing new to report, nice rooms, carpeted out and suitable for our needs. Alth we were put in a DISABLED ROOM, why ?? i dont know, none of us are disabled. The disabled access in the hotel is very good,
The hotel is on a great site, beach either side, and the sun terrace, altho you cannot get a sunlounger after 8am, i was on the terrace at 1 minute past 8 and not a bed to be had, guest queue up from 7.30am for them. guests get a bed then return some hours later, i was paying 10Euro per day for the pleasure of the beach, i was up early enough for the terrace but i refuse to queue up,
The food was not to bad, could do better with the breakfast tho.
Entertainment could be better, altho there are some new acts, the ever present Leapy lee, we stayed in the lounge only a couple of nights, the free entertainment in the surrounding bars were doing a better job than those in the hotel.
The daytime games were going down well with the children as well as the adults
The resort is very peaceful, lots of bars, and eataries, TIME SHARE touts are there during daylight hours, the hair braiders are out in force in the evenings,
A short walk to Magaluf for some "noisy bars" and a short walk to quiet bars
Highlight of the holiday had to be THE PIRATES SHOW, great family entertainment, great show, unlimted wine for grown ups, unlimited soft drinks for the kiddies, plenty of food, chicken, sausages, chips, beans, side salad, bread rolls. Fantastic atmosphere in the place.
The low of the holiday, SONAMAR, an overrated over priced show, 110Euro for adult and 55Euro for children, Platinum section, Courtney got a plate of 2 onion rings, 2dates wrapped in bacon, one vey small portion of pizza and some small potoes for her starter, fish fingers and chips for her main meal, and a small portion of ice cream for dessert, oops almost forgot the one glass of pop for 55Euro !!!!!!
The MC did not speak much English,
Never agin will we go there.
Holiday overall
Great place. great hotel, great staff, great location, another visit, ???
Yes we'll be back,
With luck we might be able to get a sunlounger next time :-))

Arrival
There was only one rep to meet the guests at the airport who was suffering from the previous evening, We did find our bus with the help of other drivers. Transfer was 25 minutes
Resort
Palma Nova is mainly British but with many Scandinavian and Spanish tourists. There are vast amounts of eateries but few fine restaurants. Food seems to be aimed at the fast food culture. There are some very exquisit dining places(Spanish) on the North Coast(Port de Valdemossa). Beaches are cleaned well and the sea cleaning boats are out every day.
Hotel Location
The hotel is situated on it's own headland between two beaches: Palma Nova and Son Matias. Both Palma Nova and Magalluf are within walking distance. Accn is on 8 floors serviced by three lifts which did break occasionally but were swiftly dealt with.
Hotel Staff
The hotel staff are very friendly and are always willing to help, but they must be approached, they have plenty of information about local ammenities and transport. The Thomson reps in the hotel were very good and always helpful, the welcome meeting(5 Guests) was short and aimed at our needs.
Food
We enjoyed every meal, there was something for everyone. Over 2 weeks the buffet seems to have a 7 day rotation. Again the service was excellent. Only other guests can spoil a meal here but even that didn't happen. Due to our departure time 0800 reception provided us with a packed meal, basic but a nice touch.
Pool
We used the pool on the first day. It seemed to be cleaned well. Due to the hotel location we used the beach. Sunbeds are very limited at the hotel and the queue starts around 7 O' clock before the doors open at 8 when the stampede begins, we witnessed this only due to our departure time.
Rooms
With a fast growing daughter the room was small. Air-conditioning(free) and a fridge(14 euros) are a must. Cleaned well and towels were changed regularly. All balconies have sea views.
Entertainment
Can't comment on the daytime entrtainment but there were various games around the pool area or the lounge. Evenings were varied and depends on whats in town, the Kids disco was short and repetative provided by hotel entertainers. You cant please everyone but some evenings half of the audience deserted the lounge within the first few songs. Guitarists are the feature in the cocktail bar which also features some sport tv. There is also a quiet room for those escaping all noise.
General
The hotel I have rated very good becuase of comparing similar hotels in the resort we have stayed at. The hotel for our needs to be close to the hustle and bustle whilst it escapes the noise was ideal.
Recommendations
Aqualand- for children and adults is value for money but 120cm height restrictions apply on large rides.
Pirates Show- Fantastic fun for all ages front seats/champagne not required but arrive early even when booked.
Tours- The Island has some fantastic areas and some can only be accessed by hire car but the Western Adventure(Sat)is very good

This was our third visit to this hotel and as usual it was way above standards. All memebers of staff are friendly and always happy to help, although the Thomsons Reps were not around oftern but the reception and entertainment staff were much more knowledgable anyway.
Entertainment
Most of the evening shows were excellent, it was good to see all ages being catered for. The morning activities by the pool are great fun and the mini disco in the evening proved popular. My sister is 11 and she did line dancing every night and thoroughly enjoyed herself. Sonia and Erwin work very hard and should be praised for their efforts.
Food
The hotel has its own pool side cafe bar which is fab ... so is the Orion bar across the road.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Have read some bad reports on this hoteland can't understand why. this was our third year and each time has been great.
the hotel is clean and nicely furnished. rooms and corridors are carpeted which cuts noise levels down. all rooms have sea view which is great and there is a beach either side of the hotel and a lovely promenade that runs either side as well. there are comments on the'dark side' of the hotel from other people. yes, the one side (facing over swimming pool) does get the sun all day and the other side only in the morning and from about 4pm. however, i can't really see the problem with this unless you want to spend the whole of the day on your balcony. we have been twice on the 'dark side' and have had no problems at all. it is nice to come uo from the beach or sun terrace at about 4.30 and sit on the balcony in the late sun for a while.
also the rooms do not get as hot. the rooms have air conditioning which is very good and you can hire a fridge for a small amount. here is an english run shop in the hotel which stocks all sorts of essentials you may have forgotton plus gifts and a book lending service and parasol hire. the resort is clean, friendly and not to noisy at the time we have been the beaches are beautiful, cleaned regularly and the sea is quite shallow for quite a way out. food in the hotel is good - can't understand the complaints i've read. my husband is a very fussy eater and never went hungry!
all in all a great holiday and would recommend it to anyone.

The Hotel itself was amazing, just what we imagined when we saw it from Son Matius beach 12 months ago.The staff were all, without exception, first class.
The food was excellent,a varied and imaginative menu.
The resort itself leval, with buses into Palma plentiful and clean. The beaches were spotless and relaxing which kept "she who has to be obeyed" happy.
Overall a lovely holiday,to be recomended.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
AIRPORT TRANSFER..
This was very efficient and takes between 25 and 35 minutes depending on the traffic.
THE HOTEL..
The Santa Lucia must be in the best position in Palma Nova, it actually rests on a low headland that divides 2 sandy bays. I should imagine it is impossible to have a room that will not offer a panoramic view.
We found the hotel to be well worth it's 3 stars and as good as some 4 stars, on arrival at reception we were impressed with the politeness of staff and this continued for the full week.
There are 3 lifts and I would consider everything suitable for the wheelchair user. Our room was of an acceptable size with twin beds, tv (limited channels),good wardrobes, dressing table and good sized bathroom with powerful over the bath shower. The safe and fridge cost 24 euros per week and you are returned 12 euros when you leave. the balcony is excellent offering good privacy with table and 2 chairs. Air conditioning worked well and kept the room at a comfortable temperature, the room has maid service every day with fresh towels daily, beds made and sheets changed mid weeek.
FOOD..
I believe this is always difficult to review due to individuals likes and dislikes but here goes.. we had some good meals and some excellent meals but we never had a bad meal which is the main thing. There always appeared to be a wide variety of selection including some vegeterian, some English and some local variations, you can buy a bottle of wine for 6 euros and if you drink half, the bottle will be kept for the following day. We had no complaints, although one elderly couple rated it below average because there was no strawberry jam, this was after they had eaten a 5 course meal, don't some people love to complain!!
STAFF..
No problems at all, very polite and willing to help. When we stayed here 3 years ago we reported some ants on the balcony and within 15 minutes we had the Reception Manager, a maintenance man and a cleaner in our room to "sort them out" and they did.
ENTERTAINMENT..
Entertainment staff excellent and hard working, bit of ballroom dancing, mini disco for the young ones, line dancing, bingo and then the show, we watched 5 shows and thought 4 of them were fantastic the other was so so.
THE RESORT..
We do not find the area is the wild partying complex that everyone suggests, I think that may be more towards Magaluf. It is lively and colourful with plenty to see and do, people are friendly and I witnessed no extremes of stupid or drunken behaviour. The beaches are cleaned every morning and offer plenty of sun loungers at reasonable cost plus the usual banana boat and paddle boats etc.
The area is policed very well, never saw any lucky lucky men but there was still the odd timeshare seller around, FOR YOUR SAKE PLEASE DO NOT BE TEMPTED.. YOU WILL REGRET IT, I WAS AMAZED AT HOW MANY PEOPLE THEY MANAGED TO WHISK AWAY IN TAXIS FOR 5 HOURS OF HARD SELL. we had lunch in various cafe / bars and always thought it was decent grub at a fair price
IN SUMMARY..
The Santa Lucia is more suited to the older generation although there were about 12 children the week we stayed, if you are a hen or stag party go to Magaluf you will enjoy it more. The locals are friendly and honest but be aware of bag snatchers and pickpockets, but in honesty this is more likely to be a fellow Brit, anywhere from the airport right through your holiday. Prices seem to have risen a fair bit since the introduction of the Euro..surprise surprise!!
One couple did tell us that last year they came for a week and the hotel was full of children running through the hotel and playing in the lifts, mind it was the school holidays and we have had no experience of this problem on the 2 occasions we have been here, if it was as bad as they suggested I wonder why they returned this year.
ALL IN ALL A GOOD HOLIDAY AT A NICE RESORT IN AN EXCELLENT HOTEL, I WOULD NOT THINK TWICE ABOUT RETURNING.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
My godson and I chose the Santa Lucia having read the comments from other users on this website.
First impressions were a little uncertain, as it seemed that the entire hotel was occupied by OAP's - not a good idea when travelling with a nineteen year old. However, we found out later that the hotel caters mainly for older visitors in the winter months, and for families and couples in the summer. We had arrived on the 'changeover' week, and by the end of our stay there were many more younger people arriving. If you're planning to visit in early or late season, and you've got a teenage family, you should be aware that the hotel entertainment is geared for an older clientele (the special guest star one evening was Leapy Lee, who, not surprisingly, Mike had never heard of). However, apart from this reservation, we had no real complaints about the hotel.
We were on the seventh floor, and the views from the balcony were amazing. As the hotel is built on a small headland, all rooms have a sea view. Depending what time of day it was, the sea constantly changed colour. No idea how many photographs we took from the balcony, but it was a lot! The room itself was basic but comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Towels changed daily, bedding twice during the week. We hired a fridge for the week which was about ten pounds. Worth it to have a cold drink when you wanted one.
In spite of its seafront location, the Santa Lucia was very quiet at night. There are several music and karaoke bars adjacent to the hotel, but the outside music is turned off at midnight, and has to move inside, meaning that you can get an early night if you want to. The food was what you'd expect from a large package hotel - plenty of it, but a bit lacking in variety. We would have preferred to book b&b, but the hotel only does half or full board. We tried the evening meal on our second night, but were not over impressed, so we ate out each night after that. Palma Nova has a great variety of cafes and restaurants and it seems a pity not to try some of them. Breakfasts at the hotel were fine.
We managed to avoid going to the reps welcome party, which we feel should be renamed 'Let me sell you an excursion' party. A hire car was included in our package, so we didn't need any of the over-priced organised trips.
Palma Nova was something of a surprise - a very pleasant and well laid out resort, with a fine new promenade. No doubt if we'd have gone in July or August it would have been much busier and much noisier, but as it was the end of May it was great. If you want all-night bars, clubs and pounding music, then neighbouring Magalluf is only a ten to fifteen minute stroll away. As already said, eating out in Palma Nova is no problem - there are more places than you can shake a menu at, and not all of them of the 'chips with everything' type of menu. Best place we found was, without a doubt, the 'Real Dion', on the seafront, only a few doors along from the turning that leads to the Golf Fantasia. It's owned and run by a British couple, and has fine and varied menu, with daily specials. The food is all home cooked and delicious. The rasberry brulee was to die for!
Having a car meant that getting out and about was no trouble at all. Driving on Mallorca is no problem, provided you don't mind constant hairpin bends when you're up in the mountains. We drove over to the east coast to visit the Dragon Caves - magnificent, but we both felt the included concert on the underground lake did drag on a bit. Also visited Soller (driving through the Soller Tunnel was an experience!)and took the tram down to Port de Soller. Also drove to Sa Calobra, so that Mike could do some snorkelling.
Valldemossa and Estellencs the next day, then down to Cala Deia for more snorkelling, where we hit a problem, or rather Mike did, in the shape of a large jellyfish which wrapped itself around his arm. This inlvolved visits to the nearest pharmamcist (in Deia), then a visit to the clinic in Palma Nova, then a trip by ambulance to the main clinic in Palma. Luckily we had full insurance! No lasting effects other than what Mike described as feeling like a bad netttle sting.
Also went to Portal Nous to have a wander round the marina deciding which of the luxury cruisers we'd have when the lottery numbers come up. Had orange juice and croissants in the bar on the harbour side - 28 euro's!! Up to Bellver Castle overloooking Palma, and then for swim in Illetas, keeping a wary eye open for more jellyfish. Last day was spent in Palma. Mike isn't noted for his enthusiasm for visiting churches, but he was very impressed with Palma Cathedral, which is a magnificent building, especially now that many of the blocked windows are being re-opened and light is again flooding into the building. Last afternoon was spent at Portal Vells, a very small resort a few miles beyong Magalluf. Development here is very low key, but no doubt that will all change in the not too far distant future.
Mike managed to find another jellyfish, but it was much smaller than the first one, and the sting was nowhere near as bad, and didn't need medical attention. Families with children should be aware that jellyfish are common around Mallorca, and their sting could be very nasty for a young child.
Overall, we both had a great week. Mallorca is a beautiful island, and it's easy to escape the crowds if you want to, and also easy to have a night out on the town if you want to. Whatever your age or temperament, Mallorca will have something to suit you.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
I have been to Mallorca on four other occasions over the last 10 years. When I was 24 this was the place for me. I have always stayed in Magaluf or Palma Nova, which are close together. It may well be that I am getting older and some what appauled at the behaviour of people, bragging about having 42 s*xual partners in the Chapplins bar. It is not what I want to hear from the bar staff, although it could be argued that this is what Magaluf is about and that is a fair suggestion.
If you think of the time of year I went March, then it was not the "rocking" resort that I have seen before. Hence think about this if you want to walk around the resort with your kids and go into these bars.I'm not a prude but does it have to be in your face? the answer is yes, I think.
Don't let this put you off Mallorca.
The hotel--- The position of the hotel near to the beach is fabulous, no two ways about it. The outside pool and area around the pool was ok, although I can imagine that it will be busy at peak times. The indoor pool with sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi is a real bonus, although it would be busy in peak holiday times. The indoor pool is open 8.00am until 8.00pm. The sauna and steam room close at 5.00pm, which was disappointing, this should be extended to continue till 8.00pm. Only 6 people allowed in the steam room, and about 4 in the sauna. Jacuzzi is about 6 people, this can be turned off and gives a nice relaxing swim without the noise.
There is a sun terrace which was in a good position and our balcony overlooked this. This side of the hotel is best as the sun is on this side of the hotel for most of the day.
The Hotel room- The key fob is used to switch on the electric in the room. As you walk into the room on your right is a coat hook directly opposite is the bathroom. There is a hairdryer and toilet, sink and bath/shower. Water is hot no concerns. There is another door which leads into your room. I though that this offered more privacy as you can hear the domestic staff enter your room. The room are a nice shade of yellow with the patio door leading to a reasonably sized balcony. Two chairs, table and a small fixed to the wall clothes line. Also an astray for you smokers! Returning back into the room is a dressing table with a good sized mirror and stool. There is a lamp which lights up this side of the room. The room is dull in my opinion. This lamp can be turned off from the bed. Two lamps are at the side of your bed. You will bang your head on one them as you get items out of the safe, which is in the wardrobe. Take extra coat hangers. Plenty of space for clothes. Small TV in the room Sky News, CNN and Euro Sports. There was a fridge you could hire. I didn't bother with this but it looked a good size. Beds fine, with two good pillows, extra blankets available. Heating/ air conditioning has an understandable timer. I don't like blow heating though but that's me being "picky". Carpets in the bedroom. Overall I though the room was fine, just a bit dull due to lack of light.
Carpets in the hotel corridor, lobby area has computers with internet useage. I did not have cause to speak to he reps, although an older lady informed me that her brother had been taken to hospital and reps had been of great assistance to her. She also stated reception staff kind as she was worrying about the phone bill home. I found the staff fine, welcoming and helpful, although the staff in the dining room appeared focused on the task in hand. I shall return to the all important food....
I never realy like the food in any hotel, so take this acoount of the food with a pinch of salt.
The breakfast is ok, Bacon one day sausage the next. The food appears to be cooked and then left, not cooked in small amounts to cater for less people in the hotel but cooked and then left. The hotel could do with some water for guests as the orange juice was so sweet. Conflakes etc and the usual cakes on offer. Evenings was much of the same, soup and then main meal. Chips are ok if you get them hot. Fruit and puddings on offer. Its ok, you can make a meal out of it, just don't expect Jamie Oliver! cause he's not there!
I would go back to the hotel at this time of year "especially at this time of year." The indoor pool sold it for me and the kids would benefit, holidays can be expensive when the kids are bored? I remember this. The pools not massive, about 5 people can swim from the top of it to bottom. I'm 5ft 2 ins and could stand in the deep end, just.
I did not join in with the line dancing or the entertainment in the hotel. I liked to see the "old time dancing" and I would have though it was alright, the piano bar and the main bar always busy. Drinks reasonable. The rooms packed out most evenings and on the one occassion I was in the hotel at 12.00am it sounded fun!
The resort as I have stated is busy and would be "choc o block" in the summer months. Football in most places. I liked the Brittania in Magaluf, currently has two female and one male singer on, good enterainment, no football.
