My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Having read the reviews for this hotel prior to leaving we were very concerned but everything was only very minor.  The rooms are compact with no airconditioning but we managed with 3 beds and a cot in one room very easily and hired a fan as soon as we checked in which we had on all night.

There are 4 pools which all have sunbeds that are only available from 9 AM obviously these get taken very quickly but there are plenty of chairs available all the time.  There activities on all day and the entertainment team do work really hard.  Children can be occupied nearly all day if that is what you want.  The evening entertainment is quite low key but again keeps children entertained til 11.30 Pm.  Beach is across the road and has one of the clearest seas we have come across in the Med.  Food is available constantly all day from 8 AM to 11PM and yes if you want to eat chips all day you can do but there is plenty of others things to eat - salad and fruit is just as available.  As this was the height of the school holiday season there was no queuing in the restaurant, the bar or to get into the pools.

On the whole if you want to be in a quiet area (2 restuarants, 1 bar and 1 supermarket) in a pleasant 3 star hotel go to the President.  We had people in the hotel who had transferred from Jupiter and wished that they had been in the President from day one.  It's hard to please everyone but they try very hard to do so.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

My family and I stayed at this All Inclusive hotel for 7 nights in August this year.  I am 32, husband is 38, kids 3 and 5, grandparents came too in their mid 60's.

Food at tea time was the same selection as lunch time, consisted of the same meals, no variety.  Nothing really for young kids to eat. Snack bar (if all inclusive) consisted of the cheapest crisps that were tasteless, some fruit and biscuits.  Sandwiches were not covered over and flies were going on them. Entertainment stops at 10.30pm/11.00pm, and even then if you are English is caters more for the Spanish and German nationality.  You had to be up before 7am to get a sunbed, as people were putting towels over them and walking away for hours before actually using the ones they had covered with their towel!.

Entertainment for the kids was much the same each night and lacked variety.  The resort itself has nothing and there was nowhere to walk.  The shopping centre was non-existent (well it compromised of a bakery, a restaurant, a shoe shop, a tatto shop and a chemist, oh and the usual supermarket.  If you have kids and are expecting an active holiday don't bother with this one, only if you want to lie in the sun all day, have bad entertainment at night, and have no intentions of venturing out of the hotel complex. Building works were going on all around too!.

I know I won't be going back next year.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Just returned from an enjoyable week at the hotel Maioris. We booked a deal from Teletext with no transfers. The hotel was about 20 minutes from the airport and cost 22 euros. The hotel itself was very nice, clean and well maintained. The entertainment was very good, but as they were training a group of new entertainment reps ,I'm not sure if we got better than you would normally get.

For us the disapointment was the food, most of the meat seemed to be cooked in garlic oil, which my wife is allergic to and I don't like and not a jacket potato in sight, but others said they thought the food was really good...depends on your taste. The resort...well there isn't really one .The hotel is in a residential area, very nice and quiet but there are a couple of shops (newsagent, baker, supermarket & a couple of bars) within 5 minutes walk and the hotel provides a free bus daily in to El Arenal, and I think 3 times a week into Palma. If you want a quiet multinational holiday, you could do a lot worse. If you want a lively British beer and Karaoke type break....forget it

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Have just returned from a 9 (!) day break at this hotel (24/6/05-3/7/05) and it appears that nobody's written a review for this hotel recently... Overall impression: clean, friendly, quiet with good facilites - excellent if you're looking for a hassle-free relaxing holiday.

GETTING THERE:

We initally looked at a 7 day package through the mainstream tour operators, but when we discovered that our flights were with EasyJet (from Bristol) we booked the flights direct with Easyjet and the accommodation through MedHotels (www  medhotels  com) and ended up getting 9 nights for the same price as the 7-night package - may be worth looking into...

Taxis from the airport are around 20 Euro but we pre-booked a taxi with www  majorca-airport-transfers  com and were quoted 30 Euro (okay, a bit over the top, but you pay the driver, not in advance) - the taxi, an 8-seater with ample room for our luggage, was waiting for us when we landed at Palma and arrived promptly at the hotel for our return transfer to the airport.

IMPRESSIONS:

The reception staff are very helpful and all speak English and everywhere is very clean.

The rooms are fairly basic (which give the impression that you're not in a 4* hotel) but with en-suite bathroom with bath+shower etc, are more than adequate. They are also kept very clean with fresh towels etc daily. You have to pay a few Euros for the safe key and (strangely?) you have to get your TV remote from reception (not that there's a lot to watch other than CNN and Eurosport).

Food is okay with plenty of variety but as with any all-inclusive deal it does tend to all taste the same after a while and there is an obsession with veal (didn't know that there were so many ways to cook it!). Breakfasts good; didn't really 'do' lunch as we tended to be snacking at the bar all day; dinner okay due to the variety (and strange combinations!) on offer altough on a couple of occasions there was at least one of our party who couldn't find a suitable main course. Do bag a table before grabbing your grub.

Bar staff very friendly and efficient and there is a lager pump and soft drink dispenser on 'our' side of the bar so you/kids can freely help themselves - nice touch - and food available by the bar is adequate to keep you going through the day. The bar staff will also fill your empty water bottles with drinkable water. The all-inclusive does stop promptly at 11pm and the bar shuts promptly at midnight.

Pools are great - never had a problem getting sunbeds although as mentioned elsewhere the area around the pool does get slippery. A life-guard was on duty *most* of the time.

The entertainment team were great. A mixture of Spanish, Dutch, German and French, all multi-lingual, had stuff going through the day (shooting, archery, boules, volleyball, etc, etc) and were very popular with the younger children who seemed to be happily entertained all day. The team also put on most of the evening entertainment and although they appear to be on a limited budget and rely heavily on guests' participation, they always kept us entertained.

There is also a small gym (never had the inclination to venture in there), a games room where you can waste a few Euros, table tennis tables and a rather neglected mini-golf course.

OUT AND ABOUT:

The hotel *is* in the middle of nowhere, apart from a few shops/bars down the road. There is a kind of rocky beach about 10 min walk away at the bottom of a steep road but can't comment further as we never made it down the cliff. The hotel does run courtesy buses to Arinel and Palma and are worth using if even you intend to make your own way back. Arinel is 9 Euros in a taxi, Aqualand 8 Euros and a taxi back from central Palma was 25 Euros. Also, to save confusion, learn to pronounce the name of the hotel/area correctly (may-or-ees)!

CAVEATS:

I don't think that the hotel was anywhere near capacity as it was getting busier day-by-day during our stay, mainly with arriving Brits.
Also, my 16 year-old son was booked to come on the holiday but due to a     -up with his passport (and to his delight) he was unable to come (much to my father-in-law's delight). With hindsight I think my son would have be bored stiff - there were no others of his age group there (my 13 year old was probably the oldest 'kid') and I don't think the facilities and entertainment would have held his attention for long...

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

just spent a week at the hotel maioris. It is an excellent hotel with good amenties and excellent food. We were quite worried after reading some of the reviews on the site. There is a mixture of nationalities, mainly german.
The entertainment team are great and work all day and night and get everyone involved. The holiday can be as busy or relaxing as you wish.

Plenty of choice food wise in the restaurant. the snack bar is open all day from 10.30am to 11pm, which has fresh breads, fruit, salad, meats and also crisps, nibbles and fresh cakes.Free bus twice a day into Arenal, which takes approx 10mins. there are plenty of local buses though right outside hotel and only cost 1 euro to arenal and 2.40 to Palma. Aquacity is 5mins away on the bus. Hotel also runs free bus on a Wednesday into Palma.Bar is open 10.30 to 11pm. We just stocked up on drinks at 11pm. Entertainment finishes at 11pm, but its ideal, as it's mainly families at the hotel.

All in all a great hotel, with friendly staff and good food. Would def go again.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

We have just returned from a great week's holiday in this hotel which we booked 5 weeks prior to departure.

Yes, it was in the middle of nowhere but we knew that when we booked it.  However, the hotel runs courtesy buses daily to Arenal beach (10am returning at 4pm or 11am returning at 5pm).  There are also regular buses costing 1 Euro per adult children under 5 free) into Arenal and back.  The last bus to Arenal is at 7.20 so you have to  catch a cab back which costs 9 Euros - hardly breaking the bank -you are on holiday!  Also, don't be tempted to pay for transfers - it costs 25 Euros each way in a taxi (of which there are loads at the airport).  Your tour operator will probably try to charge you £80 - £120 for direct transfers and we spoke to loads of people whose transfers weren't there to collect them and they ended up getting taxis anyway, having already paid for transport! Save your money to spend on your holiday!

We could not fault the hotel - a very modern, exceptionally clean hotel - no rats to be seen contrary to other reviews we had read!

The food was good and available all day every day - there were a few strange combinations but then this was a German dominated hotel (although we met a lot of English people here!)  That said, there was always something that we could all find to eat, even my 3 year old who can be quite a picky eater!

The entertainment team were great - always arranging something for everyone to participate in and my kids loved the kids club which is open 10 - 12 and 3 - 8, after which there is a mini disco and entertainment every evening. All inclusive finishes at 11pm and you can pay for your drinks until 12pm.  At this point, the bar shuts and everyone is basically asked to go to bed.  Ideal if you are a family - not the holiday for you if you want to party all night!

The pool area was fairly slippery - I did in fact fall and smack my head one day! but I think you will get that in most hotel pools which are being used by lots of people.  However, not one day did we go to the pool before 10.30 and not one day did we struggle to get a sunbed (even without having to reserve one with our towel the night before)and the pool was not so busy that you couldn't swim in it!

After booking this holiday, we made the mistake of checking this site for reviews - on reading them we could have easily cancelled!  We arrived on this holiday, worried about what we would find!  We worried for nothing!!!

To sum it up, if you are looking for an all inclusive holiday where the aim is to relax, a place where you can go out and explore if you want but stay in the hotel and enjoy the facilities if you don't,  then this is the hotel for you.  The hotel has two pools, a jacuzzi, a sauna and a gym, tennis courts, pool tables, food all day, plenty to drink and plenty to get involved in (or not as the case may be) - basically everything you need for a relaxing break!

Book up and enjoy!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

I thought i would have a nice break in majorca with my two children aged 15 and nearly 4. I would not go at this time of year again, you cannot be guaranteed good sunny weather, and we did not get that. which mainly spoiled the whole holiday, because there is absolutely not a thing to do. There is not where to walk to , and nowhere to look round within walking distance. you can get the bus or taxi into Aranal but there is not much there, you might as well be in Rhyl. The taxi is 9 euros or 1 euro each on the but outside the hotel.

The hotel itself is very nice and clean the rooms are ok nothing that special but good enough, beds changed and new towels every day.The swimming pools are very nice but not very safe for under three years old.we didnt even get to go in them they were like ice.

The food seems quite nice when you first get there, but you get fed up of it after a few days, breakfasts are the best. get your drinks first and put them on the table then go for your food. The bar at night time is not big enough for everybody so if you want a seat get in there for about 8 oclock no later, kids disco starts at 8 about 10 songs the same every night and mostly german songs which my 3 year old knew the words by the end of the week, then adult entertainment which is cheap and cheerfull, mostly done by the reps and workers of the hotel.you get plastic glasses up to 8 and then they go onto glass glasses. If you have babies of young ones to feed go and get there food first and take it to your room it makeslife a lot easier, then have yours after them, i did this with breakfast it was alot easier, and the kids dont have to get dressed so early.

All in all it would have been a lot better holiday if the weather was nice, but it wasnt so it was very booring, lots of lots of germans if youdont mind, being in the middle of nowhere then go and enjoy it,oh yes the hotel next door has a inside swimmingpool and good gym which a few of us used , very nice hot jacqusy as well, just walk in and follow the corridors to the right and you will find it , nobody says anything, and they have a later bar ,

Also hire a car is a must,so take your licence. There was not under water diveing like stated or horse riding,
I WOULD NOT GO THERE AGAIN, GOODJOB IT WAS CHEEP OR I WOULD OF BEEN  ...... OFF.

We where really looking forward to our holiday, unfortunately this hotel did not meet up to our expectations.

Its by no means a four star hotel more like a low 3 star.

The room was very basic and there was NO MINI BAR as stated on the web site and confirmed by Jounerys direct. If you are not into watching the entertainment every night be prepaired to hear it clear as day light even when your door is shut and our room was the furthest way.

Please be aware that if your travel agent told you that bottled water is included, it is not. You are able to purchase it from machines situated within the hotel at a cost of 1,40 euros per 330ml bottle, which works out very expensive if you drink a lot of water like I do.

Looking on the positive side!

The pool area is very nice there is always plenty of sunbeds, the bar staff are very quick at serving you even when there is a queue you are not waiting very long.

The reception staff are very helpful and will help you with anything you need, they even rang the airport for us to check that our flight was on time.

They run a free bus service twice a week into palma - very nice city but a long day in the heat.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

This hotel is set in a new "village" - the local apartments, shopping centre etc have been built within the last 5 years. We took a late all-inclusive week here in Sept 2003.    Our room was spacious and comfortable There was plenty of food and a good variety.

The hotel was spacious and clean, the gardens and two pools well attended.

We checked the hotel's web-site for more information, and found that the beach was 800 metres away.  Well - it may have been a bit more to the top of the CLIFF !  On arriving there, a good view could be had of miniscule cars down below.  We reckoned it would have taken all morning to get down there, have a swim and climb back up ready for lunch - so we abandoned the idea.

Having said that, the hotel provides free coaches to Es Trenc beach ( a lovely natural bay with a small marina and restaurant at one end and a couple of bars further along - if you like sand-dunes and solitude this is just the place), to Arenal and to Palma. Local buses stop outside the hotel, too.

Our only complaint was that the evening entertainment was put on my a group of young Germans (who did speak English occasionally), and their only act was miming to music.   There was nowhere to sit with a drink and get away from them!   And of course, children were about in the evening, too. An adult-only bar with a guitarist or piano and singer would have been so much more entertaining - and pleasant !   Perhaps by next year, the hotel will engaged a more versatile  entertainment team.    (They were good with the children in the day-time, I hasten to add - especially if the kids understood German !)

There was no-where outside the hotel to sit and watch the world go by, but for a week of relaxation - no serious complaints.

We spent a week at The hotel Club Maioris in August. The hotel is very clean and well run with most staff speaking English.

The food was excellent with plenty of choice.
The entertainment and sports activities are well orgnaised and multilingual.
Tip, if you want a sunbed take one up to your room for the night, they just about fit in the lift!, otherwise get down there early with the Germans at 7am!

The only downside for us was the location of the hotel which is in a residential area with no beach nearby.

We were glad we had booked a hire car and found a beautiful beach about 30 minutes away called Playa Es Trenc, the sea there is crystal clear and we were swimming with tropical fish. The Caves of Drach on the north east coast are well worth a visit along with Palma just to see the yachts.
I would recommend this hotel for a good value all inclusive holiday.

Pros

All inclusive drinks.
Quite location.
Hotel Delta next door which we moved to.........

Cons

Building works next door.
No beach - only rocks and sea a good walk away.
Food - cold (typical menu salad, chips, breaded chicken - we only ate at the hotel once before we moved out!!!!).
Hotel overbooked and in turn overcrowded - in fact residents were being put up in the Hotel Delta next door (including us).
A bit rough round the edges and I would say more a 3* hotel than a 4*.
Only 2 hotels set amongst a new residential building site.
Predominatly a german hotel with entertainment in german.

My family and i have just come back from this hotel and i have just had to write a 2 page A4 letter to the company who i booked it through,They forgot to tell us that this hotel is in the middle of nowere and that it is mainly catered for the Germans (80% infact)

when we arrived we were put in a room that looked onto a building site we had no cot for our baby and the bed for our 11 year old son was a very small bed smaller than a single which was put in a spare corner and when he laid on it his feet touched the window.

The kids club cannot be used by english children as the reps are German and cannot understand English kids also the English kids cannot understand them..!!
The hotels website  says all rooms have a mini bar this is untrue no rooms have mini bars and when questioned they say they don't know anything about it and don't build the web page !! also on the website it says there is a snack bar on the poolside this is infact a 6 foot glass fronted fridge that sometimes within the day there is sandwiches well 1 slice of dry bread no butter with either a slice of ham in or cheese, this is all that is available in between meal times.
When doing to the bar you can only get 2 drinks per person, not very good with a family of 4.

The free icecreams for the kids are small pots of icecream which they can only have 1 per visit to the bar..
The resturant cater very much for the Germans on one morning the hot option for breakfast was sausage cassarole carrots and sliced potatoes with herbs on (YUK).They do not cater for children at all so my 1 year old only ate chips and we had to buy food out not good when you pay £1300 for a week all inclusive..!!

There is a free bus to the town twice a day but it go's at 10am or 11am and does not come back until 4pm and 5pm.
even though the web site says free pool towels take your own, because if your not at reception before 8am you will not get one.

also take your alarm clock because you will need to get up early to get a sunbed around the pool we were having to be down there at 7.15am to get them
ALL the entertainment is in German every night so you can't understand a word of it.
*** one good thing is the water sports you can book from within the hotel which are very cheap, 6 euro for jet skiing, 6 euro for parasending, 4 euro for banana boat***
Taxi from the airport to hotel was 20 euro.
Taxi from hotel to town (Aranel)10 euro

The weather was nice but thats all that was nice about this holiday............

A very enjoyable holiday in a quiet well run hotel. Family orientated with a good international mix of guests, well catered for by friendly helpful staff, from the bar to the restaurant and entertainment.
The entertainment for children was particularly good and they were included in the proceedings right up to the end of the nightly show at about 11-00 p.m.
The shows were a mix of the amatuer and professional, but both were very good.

The hotel is close to Arenal (3 miles) and the Waterpark Aquacity which is a very good day out, but be warned that t-shirts cannot be worn on the rides so take plenty of waterproof sun cream as there can be long queues at the most popular rides.(Taxi to Aquacity approx 9 Euros).
The free bus into Arenal is useful also, but taxis are cheap if you don't want to wait on the bus.
Thre is a small shopping complex close to the hotel with a supermarket, bank, toyshop , newsagent and restuarants. (approx 250 metres)

We found the hotel lived up to its 4 star rating, the rooms were spacious and clean , especially the bathroom. Our family of 4 were easily accomodated in a twin bed room with bunk beds, the air conditioning being a bonus.
The public areas were also well appointed and kept clean and tidy.
The food was plentiful and tasty , catering for all tastes, the staff helpful and courteous .

All in all, if you are looking for a quiet family resort in a comfortable well appointed hotel then the Maioris is for you.
Drunken lager louts desperate for clubbing need not apply !

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

After reading the couple of reviews on this hotel I was a bit apprehensive that we would be over-run with Germans and unable to get on a sun lounger at all!!! This was definitely not the case, when we were there I would say the mix was about 40-40-20 between Germans, English and French. As for the sunloungers - we managed to get 3 of them every day (we never went down to the pool before 9am and on two of the days we only went down to the pool area after 10.30am)

I have given the resort a rating of excellent but, the resort of Cabo Blanco is practically non-existent being a mainly residential area. However, the entertainment at the hotel makes up for the fact that there is nothing much around. The hotel provides free buses twice a day to Arenal and Palma. They also arrange other activities such as horseriding, snorkelling, banana boat riding etc, etc. (The majority of these activities cost 6 euros) In addition there is a bus stop just outside the hotel were you can catch a bus to Arenal (1 euro) or Palma (2.30 euros)

The food was another thing that I was worried about expecting it to be mainly German or Spanish. We do not like spicy food but the food was good and varied (we had chicken, lamb, turkey, veal, pork etc - all cooked naturally without spices) If you like international cuisine and local Spanish dishes they were available as well but we didn't sample these so I can't comment. The only thing I can find to complain about food-wise was the chips. These were available at every meal but unless you managed to get a "new supply" they were always luke-warm and not very appetising (it is hard to keep chips fresh and crispy in big quantities on hotplates)

And now for the most important part of the holiday - bar service. I could not believe the speed at which the bar staff get through the customers (often serving 2 or 3 customers at the same time). I have been on previous all-inclusive holidays in the past and even out of season have sometimes had to wait up to 20 minutes to get served. Not so at the Maioris - in high season at a fully booked hotel I never waited longer than 5 minutes to get a drink.

The entertainment is good and is a mix between German, French and English although some of it was hard to understand - but that may be more because of the German sense of humour than the language.

The only improvement that I would make to this hotel is to site their hot drinks machine (coffee, tea, chocolate) on the outside of the bar instead of behind it. This would mean that people wanting a hot drink would not need to Q up at the bar to be served but could serve themselves thus reducing the Q for us that want alcoholic drinks and nothing else. <lol>

I would have no hesitation in going back to this hotel again, in fact I would look forward to it.

We have just arrived back on 01.08.03 from this hotel.  We had an absolutely fantastic holiday. The hotel was very clean, the staff were friendly and helpful.  Hotel room nice, clean, WITH AIR CONDITIONING (thank goodness! it was very hot whilst we were there).  Not many shops around, but a very nice clean place, very relaxing.  Hotel entertainment was ok (watchable), we really enjoyed the performance of 'Grease' on our last night.  All inclusive bar closed at 11.00pm which was a bit of a downer, but after the first night we made sure we had plenty of drinks on our table to last a while.  Met some lovely people whilst there, (hello Ange, Gemma, Sharon, Steve, Danielle, Angie, Barry, Dominic & Daniel - if you read this!) Food was fantastic, great choice, plenty of it - you can eat all day if you want to (and we did!!)

Buses into Arenal & Palma (bus stop right outside the hotel).

Would recommend to anyone with children, BRILLIANT !!!!!

i have just come back from a marvellous holiday that i booked throught the teletect company Hello Holidays, where i stayed at the Hotel Club Maioris in the resort of Cabo Blanco. The resort was slighly quiet but for me and my family this was ideal after a complete nightmare holiday in Magaluf with all the drunks!!!

The hotel is an international hotel and although there was a few Germans not as many as other reviews on this site have claimed. The entertainment was in both English and German. The food in the hotel was buffet style and again was international. Sorry but at this is a very good standard 4* hotel you're not going to get fish and chips on a regular basis.

The beach is a small sandy cove and is not overcrowded very relaxing for my family.

i would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good standard 4* at a 3* price

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Having returned from a week in this hotel in late June, we were pleasantly surprised. The reviews we read before we left weren't very flattering.

There are no British tour operators using this hotel, only German. Nevertheless, when we went, there were more Brits there than Germans and everyone we spoke to had booked through Telextext.

It is not really in a resort, Cabo Blanco is a residential area with a handfull of shops and bars just outside the hotel. There is one other Hotel next door which didn't appear to have any Brits in. The main resort of Arenal is a 5 minute taxi ride away.

The food in the hotel was excellent, I only had chips on one accasion. The drinks, allbeit not brand names tasted exactly the same. There was a queue sometimes at the bar which in high season could be annoying (but there is a serve yourself beer pump at the bar if that's all you want).

If you have kids, particularily young ones, the entertainment may be a bit daunting as it is in about four langauges and sounds like the Eurovision Song Contest Scoring.

The bar shuts at 11pm and the music and lights are turned off at about 1130pm (I think this is because it is a residential area). However there is a sound proofed night club in the grounds of the hotel next door which was open til about 3am.

If you're after a quiet holiday making the most of the All Inclusive deal, it's an ideal holiday. If your after a lively holiday, this is not for you.

Oh and by the way, the beach is not really worth bothering with. It is quite along walk down a winding cliff road. The hotel provides a free bus daily to and from Arenal where the beach is lovely.

All in all a very nice holiday.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Just got back from a week at this hotel and I couldn't fault anything about it.  The staff were very friendly and the daytime entertainment was excellent.  You couldn't get bored as there was always an activity or 2 going on.  Such as: rifle shooting, cross bow, water polo, mini golf etc.  The evening entertainment was ok.  There was a Tina Turner impersonator and a comedy act amongst other things.  We found everyone staying at the hotel to be very friendly and made a number of friends.

The rooms, pool, restaurant, reception and hotel in general were kept very clean.

There was a variety of food to choose from throughout the day.  I'm a very fussy eater but even I managed to eat loads!

It's a shame the drink stopped at 11pm.  That was a bit early for us but we ended up making sure we had enough drinks on our table to last us until midnight.

The area surrounding the hotel was pretty glum.  A lot of building work is going on around there, not that you can hear any drills or anything.  There's a few shops & restaurants near the main road and I've been told that the upstairs restaurant do a fantastic paella.

We ventured into Arenal where you can watch a beautiful sunset & get a horse & cart ride.  It's only about 8-10 euros to get there in a taxi.  We also went into Palma marina which cost us 30 euros each way!  We thought this was a bit steep.

If you come out of the hotel and walk straight down towards the sea, past the building work, then do a left and then a right, there's a bendy road that works it's way down to a private pool owned by the Delta hotel (although you can have drinks at the bar).  Infront of that are some rocks.  We took a stroll down there and sat on the rocks, we watched the fish and crabs.  It's very pretty down there & again, the sunset is beautiful.

All in all, a great holiday.
Enjoy!

My Wife and myself have just returned from an excellent week in the hotel Ola Maioris, near Cabo Blanca.

Firstly I would advise you against pre-booking your transfers online as they are charging way over the top as we found out much to our disappointment,we were charged 90 Euro which we already knew before we left home but we never realised how much over the top we were paying until we met some other guests at the hotel and they told us they picked up a taxi outside the Airport and got their transfers for only 20 Euro each way.

However this did`nt stop us from enjoying a great week, with excellent food and plenty of activities all day to keep you going. The one thing we did miss was a walk at night as it was quite a small village with only a few shops,if you read the other reviews Arenal is only a few minutes away and the Hotel has its own free bus to take you there or Palma.

well I can`t really add anything more but you will not be disappointed at this Hotel

We had read all the previous comments and were not sure what to expect.

Hotel is in a residential area and is therefore very quiet but within easy access of Arenal and Palma.  Hotel was spotlessly clean and food was plentiful and varied. Bed linen and towels changed daily. Hotel is mainly German but there were other English and some French holidaymakers.

Entertainment staff work throughout the day and speak all languages.  Hotel staff very friendly and make a fuss of all the kids.  Our son (6) had no problems making friends, German and English. If you want a good sunbed make sure you get there early as the usual earlybirds had their towels out.  Very cheap and regular bus service to Arenal and Palma or book the Hotel courtesy bus for free travel to and from resort. Order a picnic before 7.30 pm for next day if you are planning to go out for the day.

We were very impressed with hotel and had no complaints. Kids had a great time and so did we.

Would definitely go again.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

If you like to stay in the Hotel all holiday then this could be the place for you.  If we had not had a car we would have been lost !  The resort is not a resort at all, but part of a new residential area with absolutely nothing there ! There is nowhere pleasant to take an evening stroll after dinner.  Lots of straight roads with no buildings - beware this will soon become a building site - it is obviously ready for developement.

The hotel itself was clean and of a good standard.  The reception staff were all very friendly and helpful - in fact so much so that as we were being checked in we were asked were we sure we wanted to stay here, and we were offered a brochure from another Ola hotel, and told that we would be transferred AND be given a free hire car if we chose to do that !

We soon found out why !  The hotel must have been 99% German. There was nothing for us.  The entertainment was in German, and as it was set for them was not what we Brits would call good fun.  The entertainment team obviously worked very hard but if audience being the show (men passing ping pong balls on spoons type stuff) then you would not be amused.  And as there is nothing else there you are stuck with it !
Any papers we were given were in German, French and another language we did not recognise !  Nothing was in English except for the board offering transfer to the other Ola hotel.  That certainly made us feel welcome !

The rooms are clean and of good standard - but be warned no hairdryer !  There is a light on balcony that stays on all night which means you can't have the curtain open without it shinging  on you.  You certainly could not have the balcony door open unless you wanted to be entertained by the noise - in daytime from all the Germans around the pool (no critism of them but they are very noisy) or the entertainment at night.  The music started very loud in the morning at 8.20 on one day.

The restaurant was pleasent and cool.  The food was good for 3* but we were expecting something more for the 4* rating and the write up on the web site.
The pack lunch was just about acceptable.
The pools were quite large, but packed and very noisy - and no chance of a prime position sunbed for the towels left on them as early as 6am.  Bottled or filtered water - you have to pay for that at all times !!!!
The beach we were directed to at 1/2 mile was more like a mile.  Glad we had the car.  It was rocks only and bathing from a ladder.  Very lovely spot if you could manage the hill walking, but not a place to sit as it was full of locals.  That we were told was the only beach close by.
If you stay here and like me, you don't like buses, can't afford taxi's, and you don't want to be marooned then a car is a MUST.

If you want to have anyone to speak to and share an evening with, then if it is like when we were there you won't find anyone to speak to.  The other guests were not interested in us Brits even tough we did try to make conversation.  We were outnumbered.  We did manage to find another couple who had been on the plane, and probably only because we knew what they looked like - but they left the next day. Another party of 4 also left the day after they arrived.  We met them all in The Ola hotel in Palma Nova, and every one of us there (ended up finding 16)  were glad we had moved even though the Panama is only 3*.

So - yes the hotel is lovely and its clean and the food is good enough.  The location is a real downer.  Yes we had a car and could go out but then we had paid for all inclusive and didn't want to spend all that extra dosh.
Entertainment - minus 10 out of ten beacuse we don't speak German and there was far too much audience participation and not enough actual entertainment.

If you are offered the Panama in Palma Nova take it.  It is clean and of good standard.  The food was more or less the same.  The pack lunches much better than here.  Rooms have double bed, fridge and hairdryer and although the bathroom was smaller are equally as good as here.  The pool area is smaller, but it was not crowded at all as there is a wonderful beach two minutes walk away. Sun beds were always available and saving them not allowed !! Gym, jacuzzi, massage all free.

Entertainment was same kind but spoken in English as well as French and Spanish.  Excellent Flamenco show.  Mainly French people in hotel, but then they were full of smiles and hello's.  The location is very good, up a quietish road at one end of resort.  Resort not loud and brash.  You can walk to Magaluf if that is what you prefer.  The ONLY down side was that all drinks were in plastic cups outside the restaurant - but then the bar was entirely self service and well stocked - and water was free !  A transfer sorted us out, but it was a pain for those without a car as it wasted half their day.

If you like greasy recycled food, breathing in the stench of sewers at all hours of day and night, putting up with filthy toilets and floors, admiring the rats in the garden, listening to German 24/7, being in the middle of nowhere with not a hope in hell of being able to hire a car in August, then this is the resort for you.

However, if you are a decent human being, and don't appreciate having your digestive system assaulted by poor quality food and unhygienic conditions, and you genuinely expect a reasonable view from your balcony window, rather than that of a building site, stay away! I paid a lot of money to go to hell and back for 2 weeks. Don't make the same mistake.

Shhhh!!!!  Please don't tell everyone about this place.

We were originally going to Puerto Soller, when we had to delay our holiday by a week, just two weeks before going, we couldn't find anywhere to stay but ,so we set off with some doubts.

Well what a result.  Lovely hotel, lovely resort.   We were the only English couple in this predominantly German hotel - in fact they couldn't remember having any before.

I'm sure if I had been German I would have hated it - apparantly Calla Agulla is very popular with Germans from the north of Germany, with many of the same people going every year, often meeting up with neighbours on the beach!!

The main street that runs from the beach down to the beautiful harbour of Cala Ratjada is full of German Beer Gardens and restuarants serving Schnitzels and Kaff and Kutchen.  However, they are generally very good and very welcoming - particularly Tonis, who thought we were so cute for being English!!

Cala Ratjada itself has beautiful shops, bars and restaurants.  El Cactus seemed very popular, in fact so popular we never managed to get a table!!

Angels Cocktail bar is cool and trendy with great staff and really great cocktails - but be warned we always had one too many!!!

The Hotel Regana was of a good standard for a 3 Star.  The rooms are a little small, but adequate with a tv and direct phone in the room, the place is spotless.

We had a sea view on the fifth floor - definitely recommend you ask for this, as some of the rooms looked on to brick walls.

Breakfast was fine and quite relaxed, as long as you got down early enough.  We had half board but didn't eat in the hotel, as we like to eat out at restuarants, so I can't comment on the food.

The pool is lovely and we never had any problems getting a sunbed.

BUT BE WARNED!!!
Do not consider going to this hotel in the height of the summer it is full of young germans who want to drink and party - unless of course you want to join in with them!!!!!

Will definitely go again.

Just back from this hotel which was in the very small resort of Cala Blava , which is about 6km from Arenal.  There was absolutely nothing to do in this resort & the beach was far too rocky & dangerous to swim in.

The hotel, which is 4 star, was one of the nicest hotels I have ever been in.  The rooms are cleaned & towels changed every day.  The food was good, with loads to choose from.  There are 2 lovely outdoor swimming pools & an indoor pool at the hotel and also a beach club with another 2 swimming pools, which is right next to the sea.  The hotel provides towels, which saves you using your own & there is a courtesy bus which picks you up from the hotel & takes you to the beach club & back.

There is entertainment every night, which was pretty dire (the usual type of acts that you would expect to get in Europe).

In general the staff were not very friendly & could do with a course in customer care.  If you are looking for a quiet holiday then this is the place for you.
All in all we did enjoy our holiday as it was very relaxing.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

My wife and I have just returned from this hotel,There is a great deal of building work going on around the hotel at the moment,so it was impossible to find anywhere in the hotel that was QUIET.

The hotel itself is v/clean,the staff are very friendly, helpful, and good at what they do.A special mention must go to the bar staff, who ,even at peak times(after7-00pm)never kept you waiting for more than 2mnts.The beer tap is a help yourself ,great idea, along with the soft drinks, coke fanta, water, lemonade, etc,Maybe a help yourself coffee machine in the bar area would be a good idea.

The "beach" is 800mtrs away, down a long steep hill(even steeper coming back)it is very rocky with not a lot of sand,i would say not suitable for unsupervised children of any age, and could even be dangerous. The dining room is always clean, with a fresh tablecloth whenever you take a meal, the service is excellent, the food very good,if not a little odd sometimes(curried frankfurter)as  a breakfast choice, although there is quite a good choice of menu ,the ommlettes are cooked fresh as you wait and are very good. The animation staff work hard, but, they dont quit pull it off.

Entertainment for the children is limited, there is a playground for the toddlers, and a mini arcade for the older ones, which can be expensive if you have a couple of kids,The "fitness"room consists of an empty room with one set of sit up bars. There are tennis courts, and crazy golf, which is falling apart. The bike hire is very reasonable 6 euros for 4 hrs.and the whole area has cylcle tracks,Sunloungers,we found it very easy to get a couple almost any time of the day,The hotel is very cosmopolitan, when we were there ,there were english, german, dutch, russian, italian, spanish, french, It can be very irritating to hear EVERY announcment made in at least six languages, even the quiz questions were asked in all languages, but the questions were ones that any nationality should/could know.

The pool is aduquate, and not heated and can get a bit congested if there are a lot of children there. The hotel next to the MAIORIS is the DELTA,which is in the thomson brochure,We went for a look around on a number of occasions, this being the only other hotel within 5kms,this to is a 4 star hotel but completely different to ours, really quiet.a different atmosphere alltogether. For the younger more energetic there is not a lot, if any, nightlife, the nearest being a taxi ride to ARENAL or PALMA,the fares are reasonble though,or the local bus stops ouside the hotel.Everything stops at 11-00pm because it is in a residential area.

All in all because we had this off teletext we feel as though we had good value for money, but we would give it a 3star rating, not 4 as advertised. To go back to the building work, this seems to be a very big project,so ,deffinately check if there is any thing going on in 2004.

The hotel caters for all nationalities and we found most guests where Belgians, French and German however all the entertainment staff spoke English and a lot of the guests could too (Infact most day time entertainment was explained in English only). The night time entertainment was of no real language mainly dance routines and slapstick and was very good.

The all-inclusive was very good with a good selection of local drinks and the staff very friendly. There was also ice cream, ice lollies, crisps nut, sandwiches, fruit and pizza available. The food for the main meals was of a high standard and well presented with a fish, meat and chicken dish plus salad and pasta or a potato dish
Rooms where clean and had maid service every day and had a separate bedroom for the kids

We found the hotel very good and very relaxing and have booked to go again. A very good budget holiday for families the only down side is it is the back of beyond but when you are all-inclusive do you need to roam?

Fantastic complex for young kids with kids club, 3 pools and lots of activities. Food was fine and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Very few English families on the complex, mostly German and French but all the staff spoke English. The place itself is in the middle of nowhere and although it is on the coast the 360 steps down to the sea made it a none starter, and there was no real beach there anyway.

Overall had a greatime with the Grand children and would have no hesitation in recommending it for families with young children.

Sun Club eldorado as a whole was ok. The apartments were very nice and there was plenty to do within the hotel complex itself. However the hotel was quite far out from any towns and you couldnt walk any where at night times unless you got a taxi into town, which weren't cheap. The food was pretty crap and didn't cater for english at all. The hotel was mainly full of germans and only around 5 other english families. Complex was good for kids and had plenty of sport facilities to keep you occupied.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

The Tirant Playa is a small (90 apartments) Thomas Cook Family World self-catering apartment complex, with an excellent pool area and the reps and Benji, the entertainer, were excellent.  We had planned to hire a car, but in the end didn't because we hardly ever left the complex. A full Kidsworld programme was available but the children didn't use it as they were happy just being by (and in)the pool.  The pool was large, always warm as it was in full sun all day, and had gently sloping rounded edges (no chances of accidents as we have had on previous holidays), it was also open until 9pm. The separate childrens pool was perfect and our 3 yr old spent nearly all day in it. Sunbeds were plentiful as were the parasols.

Our ground floor apartment was clean with a large patio area and had great views over the bay.  It was cleaned every other day (fresh towels supplied) and sheets changed every 4 days. We did have an ant problem but nothing that a can of ant spray couldn't fix, although all food had to be securely covered if left out of the fridge.  One drawback was that there was no air-conditioning, only a ceiling fan in the bedroom.  Extra fans were available but they had to be paid extra for - a fact I have already complained about.

All staff were VERY friendly and helpful.  Food in the complex restaurant was good but the menu was rather limited and everything (except pasta and pizza) came with chips, although salads were available.

The bar was open from 9am - 1am. The restaurant from 9am - 9.30pm.
Trips - Highly recommended is the Reps Caberet evening - a fantastic night out with good food, free champagne sangria and a brillant caberet. The catamaran trip was also brilliant. It was a bit on the pricey side but well worth the money - a very large catamaran, a limit of 65 people so not crowded, free soft drinks/beer throughout, an excellent buffet and the bay we stopped in to swim/snorkel was beautiful. The Shop and Sail trip could've been done much more cheaply independently, even by using taxis.

Playa de Fornells is a very quiet resort with only a few supermarkets, bars and restaurants but because of the excellent facilities at the Tirant Playa this did not matter.  The small supermarket in the grounds of the Tirant Playa was much cheaper than the large supermarket down the hill.
Tirant Playa has everything a family needs within its boundaries - we are already planning a return trip for next year.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Booked last minute was expected to go to Hotel Blue Bay.  When arrived at that hotel they told us room was very small but could go to Belvedere hotel.

This was an Excellent hotel although could do with air conditioning in room as fan very inadequate.  Rooms clean, linen changed only once a week, towels changed daily.  You have to be down early in the morning to get sunbeds!!  Although people did leave them unused for hours. Pool area was clean, lifeguard was very strict about pushing people in and diving.

Courtesty bus to Palma Nova - but you do have to jostle with the Germans to get on the bus at both destinations, the last bus back from Palma nova is 6.15 p.m. and gets packed.  Local bus to Palma runs every 20 minutes (or thereabouts) costs about 1 euro 20 cents for a 25 min bus ride.

Food was excellent lots to choose from and service of most of the staff was very good.

Let down for the hotel was the walk to Cala Mayor.  Road was steep, winding and did not have any footpaths not very good for people with walking difficulties.
Street lighting was not too good, or half way down the road to Cala mayor you could try walking down the steps to the town - lots of them and very steep.  Once made it to the Beach this was lovely not too large but clean.  Don't expect a buzzing nightlife from Cala mayor (or even the hotel) most shops etc. closed about about 8.30 p.m.  Best get taxi into Palma Nova if needing stimulation and excitement at night!!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

In my opinion the accommodation was very clean and tidy. The rooms were a bit small for a family but modern.Badly requiring air conditioning for this time of year as the ceiling fan was inadequate.Enough hanging space and plenty hangers.Bathroom was spacious and very clean.

We could not give an honest opinion of the evening entertainment as it was held indoors in the main lounge (which can hold up to 300) and did not want to submit our children to the smokey atmosphere combined with the heat and so as it felt, lack of airconditioning. With such a large outdoor area we could not understand why they did not hold the entertainment outside as they have done in so many other hotels that we have stayed at in Majorca.

Very nice large pool area with a little island in the centre.A jacuzzi was built on at the shallow end of the pool. The pool had a very small shallow area and children could quite easily get out their depth although there was a nice kiddies pool for the none swimmers about 500mm deep (2feet).

The dining hall was large and holds 400 people. The food was plentiful and varied as long as you are a fish lover not many meat varieties.Plenty of fresh fruit though and you can get a packed lunch as long as you order it at reception the previous day.The staff were pleasant in the dining hall paticularly Pepe who always had nice thing to say to the kids.

The pool side bar was never staffed by more than two people at one time which ment queueing for some long periods especially at busy times particularly in the evenings which we found ourselves waiting up to 15 minutes for a drink. Not much good for a family of four when an adult was only allowed four drinks each of which was less than half a pint and didn't last very long.I found myself queueing more than relaxing. The snack bar was next to the pool side bar.The service at this was even slower than the pool bar and compounded by the fact that no more than two snacks per person. The pizzeria was the worst that I have ever experienced. The only time that we used it it took FORTY FIVE MINUTES to get served and because one of our children sat down on a chair next to the queue the staff refused to serve her and told her to go to the back of the queue and would only give my wife ONE pizza (can't work that one out myself as everyone is allowed two per person). We complained to the management but felt we were getting nowhere they wre very nice but "please go away we have your money you are all inclusive",was the impression we got.

There is a free bus to Palva Nova which leaves the hotel on the hour and half hour and returns quarter to and quarter past the hour but stops for siesta.Be prepaired to push as no one seems to know what a bus queue is for.
If you require a taxi the reception staff will get it for you and will arrive within a minute or two as the local taxi rank is just at the bottom of the hill from the hotel.

Cala Mayor is not really much of a resort more residential, a few bars, some tacky Spanish souvenir shops, two very small beaches and, lots, and lots of crazy drivers which makes the long walk down the hill and even longer walk back up very dangerous particularly if you have young children or a pram as there is no pavement and two extremely dangerous blind corners. The beaches are cleaned every night with a tractor that scrapes the sand and collects all the rubbish so the are clean.

OTHER THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR.

We asked if we could keep our room until four o'clock on the day of our departure but reception could not let us know until about ten on the day of departure. So we all got up that morning got showered etc cleaned the room up and dried the bathroom as you do, with the dirty towels etc and went for breakfast. After breakfast we were informed at reception  the room was ours until four but would cost us an additional 21 euros which we paid willingly. We then spent the rest of the day at and in the pool.We went up to our room to get ready  only to discover  that when we went to get showered and changed for the journey home, our 21 euros did not cover the cost of clean towels. After a lengthy argument with management they reluctantly gave us the towels but, time wasted put more pressure on us  to get ready on time to catch the flight home.
What was the 21 euros for as a free curtasy room is available?

What is this Balearic tax for? Do we not spend enough money in the islands without adding an extra 1 euro + per day? It could add up to an expensive shock if you are holiday for 2 weeks with grown up children and what about the possibility of people not having any money with them as the holiday is described "ALL INCLUSIVE" shouldn't the travel agents tell us before we leave the UK.

Anyway to summarise,

Great holiday if you like fish, don't mind queueing all the time and are happy to part with hard earned cash for no apparent reason.

WILL NOT BE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Best feature of hotel - Excellent clean pool area with gorgeous pool - although you did have to be up before 08:00 to claim a sunbed!
Food very good, the best variety and quality of snacks on an all inclusive holiday that I have ever had.
Resort is v. quiet, but there is a bus to Palma for 1 euro if you fancy culture and shopping in this beautiful city.
Rooms - UNBEARABLY hot - had fans, but no air con and still needed lots of alcohol to get any sleep at all.
Entertainment - the crew worked very hard and there was something for everyone and especially good for kids.  Evening entertainment - really naff for adults, but it is lovely to sit around the bars near to pool and "just chill!"
Staff - quite friendly and do not seem to mind how may drinks you get!
Free bus to Palma Nova - nice resort, but the free bus is always full, and there was a bit of trouble with people pushing in.
all in all excellent value - £260 for the week (booked last minute at travel agent), exellent weather and you can pace it how you like - you can do loads or just have a real relaxing time - as long as you don't mind lots of kids!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Me and my girlfriend went to the Belvedere Hotel for 2 weeks and were very unhappy when it came to leaving.

Our room was at the back of the hotel with a great view of the sea and Palma Bay.

The hotel was cleaned from top to bottom daily incl. hosing down and scrubbing the whole area around the pool. Maid service was excellent.

I can't say enough good things about the staff who worked hard and all seemed to know the main lingo in about 5 different languages-luckily as not many guests spoke to them in spanish-service was usually pretty quick and friendly.

I'm a fussy eater, but for main meals the size of the buffet usually meant there was something for me. Everything was presented every day as if it were being judged, i even saw some people come into the restaurant as it opened to photograph the food :).The poolside bar is great and the menu changed daily(as did the pizzeria and bbq area), we were often found outside at 10.30pm getting a snack to finish the day off :D.

The entertainment was about the only downside for us, as it wasn't really to our tastes although some nights we did enjoy it. In saying that i would add that the Entertainment staff put in a hell of a lot of work with daytime activities from around 10, working through til about 1.30am with only a few hours break - The same staff worked all 14 nights we were there !!!! Big Applause !! ;)

The courtesy bus was a great help, and Palma Nova is a great resort, plenty of english bars with english staff for the footy and a few beers. The bus also goes to marinland which is worth the visit if only for the Dolphin Show-Would go there again....also if you do go there, take a walk around the road to the left to the Marina there are some awesome boats, and you're pretty much guaranteed some flash cars there too.

Theres a shop just outside and a bus to Palma which costs 1euro and is about every 20 minutes.

All in All we would return to the Belvedere if visiting that area of MAjorca again, as it is an excellent hotel...i could have written a lot more.

Finally First Choice also looked after us well, espescially Steve the rep for the hotel who was on hand 5 days of the week and based in the hotel... so always there for any questions... So good i gave him a bottle of vodka i had in my suitcase before we left !

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Well wat can i say about this holiday? ..

The area of cala major is very beautiful altho very hilly .. the hotel it's self is set upon a very steep hill, acessed by about 400 steps or a very steep hill ! so unless ur very active it really isn't suitable.. we did discover however that the local number 6 bus took u straight up the hill to a bus stop a few steps from the hotel entrance :o) .. the beach, once we found it ( not easy wen the hotel shuttle bus drops u off, they don't actually point u in the rite direction lol )was lovely, golden sands and shallow warm waters.. oh and incidently, just because they run a shuttle bus to drop u at the beach, don't assume they'll also come to pick u up again,we were told that as it was nearing the end of the season that it would only be coming once more that day,not so good wen u've been dropped off at 11 am (earliest shuttle ) and the only time u can get a lift back is at the other drop off time at 12.45 !! not long to get tanned eh?

The hotel it's self was very clean, rooms cleaned, bins emptied, towels changed etc every day and sheets changed once a week.. Rooms very cramped tho and was dismayed, as an early riser to find the balcony lights go off at 12.30 am and don't come on again til approx 8pm the following night,(no independant light switch, totally controlled by management)and as it doesn't get light enough to read til about 7.30am i spent several hrs sitting on a dark balcony unable to read :o( ..we were unfortunate enough to have a room directly at the top of the stairs on our floor and due to some inconsiderate guests had several nights of being disturbed by heels on the uncarpeted stairs and room doors being spung loaded, banging closed.

Altho we only went to the pool a couple of times it seemed very clean and tidy, the 84 steps down to the pool area did put us off a bit tho.

The food at the hotel was dreadful, chips with absolutely everything at main meal times, the usual greasy spanish bacon and eggs at breakfast..it was ALWAYS cold and we made extensive use of the microwave ;o)
be carefull, on more than one occasion we had under cooked food, especially the desserts, not once were there fresh vegetables, all tinned or frozen .. oh and be warned if u pre order the picnic lunch, which the hotel assure u that as an all inclusive guess ur welcome to.. uwe recieved, between the 2 of us  .. 5 bread rolls that u could easily have built a brick wall with,2 peaches that u could've played cricket with,2 plums u could've played golf with,2 oranges that u would never dare juggle with cuz if u dropped them u'd be in real danger of losing ur life !! 2 bottles of water(very nice actually :o) ) 2 plastic platters of cold meat and cheese slices (which i should imagine that by lunchtime would be rancid )oh and 2 small cans, with ring pulls on,no lable, nothing,we assumed they were either tuna or salmon,we were gonna have a guess the contents competition but decided to bring them home for the cat, hope that wen we do get round to feeding the cat that we don't discover we're giving her tinned carrots !!lol
all of this came beautifully presented(not!) in a bays hotels carrier bag with no knife to cut the rolls,no butter to put on them,no napkins to spit the disgusting muck into !! lol..needless to say, apart from the mystery tins and the bottled water it all went in the bin (we did try to ripen the fruit on the balcony but gave up after 3 days wen it remained as hard as it started )and we didn't request another one during our stay

And as for entertainment in the hotel it was pracically non existent, consisted of a mini disco for the kids for an hr at 8pm then either kareoke or bingo which was supposed to start at 9pm but didn't begin til at least 10-10.30, we usually gave up and went up to either read or play cards on the balcony before the light went out.. and being so isolated up the top of the hill, unless u were very young and active or extremly drunk u'd be a fool to go out of the hotel
We didn't book any excursions with the rep,who incidently was a company called destination care and they were excellent, would deff use them again

We used the local bus services to get out and about, which were very frequent and very cheap ... we went into palma for a day, paid 13 euros each for a ticket on the sighseeing bus,an open topped bus that u can get on and off as often as u like,we had a lovely day, went and looked round the castle, hopped on again, stepped off and had a leisurly coffee, hopped bk on and went to look round the beautiful cathedral, hopped bk on then hopped off again to have a very lazy lunch in one of the tree lined shopping areas..it really was a lovely day .. another day we went into palma nova, went and played mini golf at fantasia,it's a 54 hole mini golf course, set in fantastic gardens, complete with waterfalls, the 54 holes r split into 3 courses,we played 1 then got a ticket to readmit us,went out into the town to have lunch, then returned to play the last 2 courses.. we spent the last couple of hrs on the very beautiful beach,we were so impressed that we came bk to spend another 2 whole days lying on the beach, soaking up the sun and wandering around the huge amount of shops

I'll stop moaning now and say.. altho the hotel was a dissapointment we had a great holiday, made possible because we went out and about and found things to do ourselves and had a decent lunch out every day.. we wouldn't go to this hotel again and deff wouldn't begin to think of taking kids there..we loved palma nova and have booked a week there for next yr for the whole family
If u get this holiday as a late deal and it seems to be a fantastic bargain perhaps u'll understand why now

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

The Blue Bay Hotel is 3*.  I think we were unlucky with the rooms - they were very small, twin beds pushed together and just enough room to get around them. However there were rooms which were much bigger.  We did not bother to complain because at the end of the day it was only for a week and we were not expecting to spend much time in the room.  The maid service was excellent, clean towels every day.

The food was of the usual 3* standard.  We were all inclusive so there was no need to go hungry as there was always something even if it was only pasta and chips!  The daytime snacks by the pool were very good.

The hotel is set into the side of a hill and the pool is right at the bottom although the lift takes you almost all the way down.  Although we were warned that this was the layout we were not prepared for quite how many steps there are - it is a long way down!  However the pool area and little terraces are good.

All in all it is a nice hotel and the staff are friendly.  The evening entertainment was also very good for a 3* but this was just as well because there did not appear to be much going on in the resort itself.

We did not like Cala Mayor, the area is very hilly. There is a regular courtesy mini bus from the hotel to the beach and this was very welcome as though it is not far away it is not a pleasant walk when it is hot as the hill is steep or there are loads of steps to get you down to the main road which are fine going down but hard work going back up!  We only went to the beach a couple of times as it is not very big and quite crowded.

On the plus side there is a very good bus service running through the main street which can get you to Palma, Palma Nova, Magaluff, Illetas. The buses run about every 7 minutes and were not overcrowded.

It was a good holiday for what we paid and the weather was fab but would not return to Cala Mayor.  We love Majorca but not Cala Mayor.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Although Cala Major has a wonderful beach the resort itself is run down, grubby and caters more for its residential population than its holiday makers. Many of the local hotels are now all inclusive which has left the town unused and many parts, boarded up.
The lively resort of Magaluf is only 15 euros away in a taxi.
The hotel is clean and set in pleasant surroundings, we were fortunate to get a sea facing room which has adequate living space and air conditioning. No rooms have fridges or kettles which i found a problem, and the people who had accomodation at the rear of the hotel complained about the size of the rooms.
So ask for a sea view!

The hotel is set on top of a hill, known locally as 'Cardiac Hill', this hill has no pavement, is very busy and is set on two blind corners, not ideal if you have young children.
The hotel need to look at their entertainment programme or should i say introduce some entertainment.
For children, young teenagers and 'like it lively' people this is not the place for you.
As the hotel is set on a hill top, the pool area, although lovely, is 3 levels below ground floor and a lot of steps to negotiate when your patience wears thin waiting for the lift.

The staff are keen to close the bars dead on time, but not so keen to ensure they open when they are supposed to.
I found the selection of food ok, but with only one dining room, where you have to be suitably dressed, it was a nuisance if you just fancied a snack whilst sunbathing, as you cannot take anything out of the restaurant.

We enjoyed our holiday because we met up with a crazy bunch that were as bored as we were, and when we all got together laughing as you do sometimes on holiday, we were told we could not sit around the pool bar laughing after 1pm because of the local residents and we would be locked out.We made the most of it, but it would'nt be on our list of places to go back to.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

This hotel has been refurbished recently, although it is clean .. there is much all else I can positively say about the place.  It is very quiet, the kind of place to suit say older couples, but with the amount of steps in the complex, an elderly, infirm .. even a heavy smoker would struggle to reach the poolbar or the pool itself.

For families, its very quiet. Non-existent entertainment in the evening for adults although there is volleyball in the pool every afternoon which can be rough so deff not for the kids, practically no entertainment for the kids during the day, 1 hr over 2 afternoons is all we had, and only 1 hrs entertainment for the kids at night.  The adults evening entertainment is laughing at the kids .. oh, sorry .. there was bingo and a quiz!!

For young ones .. forget it!!  Although Magaluf is a short taxi ride away, you would end up going there every night and end up spending a fortune in taxis .. there is a moral to the story in that one!!

Food wise .. if you like chips, chips and more chips then this is the place for u!

On a positive note .. the rooms were cleaned every day .. but then again the rooms are very very small.

I'll end on that positive note!! As all inclusive hotels come .. this is definately on the bottom rung.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Holidays can sometimes be more stressfull than enjoyable and by the time your last day arrives you can not wait to get home, but this is the first holiday I can honestly say I was so dissapointed when it came to an end.
The hotel has friendly, helpfull staff members on duty at all times, all can speak English, and unlike some hotels will get things done when they say they will and promptly.

Rooms are comfortable and spacious with lovely views from the balconys or if on the top floor like I was, larger sun terraces complete with table, chairs and sunbeds, perfect if you want to escape and sunbathe in peace and quiet.
I stayed Bed and Breakfast but personally neither me or my partner felt breakfast was worth getting up for. It was by no means bad, there was a good choice of cereals, fruit, meats and cheeses etc, but the cooked breakfast was always barely warm. So turn up the heat in the kitchen and they would be cooking (pardon the pun).

The location of the hotel is perfect, the beach is just a short relaxing walk away, its not massive, but plenty big enough and is beautiful. There are even life guards on duty all day everyday so you can swim at ease. If your feeling lazy and even a short walk is to far, you can get a shuttle bus from the hotel at 10.00am to the beach, I think its free, and if your feeling really lazy and thats to early for you, there is always the hotels lovely pool and pool area to relax in.

At the end of the street, which hotel is situated on, there are two of the nicest resturants in the resort of Cala Mayor. One, named 'La Greppia' is mainly a pizzaria but also serves pasta dishes, and the other is a Thai restaurant, the name escapes me at the moment, but they both serve delicious food. One problem with 'La Greppia' is that the menu is entirely in Spanish, as me and my partner discovered, so its a bit pot luck what you get if your not good with the language. Also, from both resturants, you can enjoy the view of the Royal palace and its stunnin grounds while eating your meal, not forgetting that you can also see it clearly from the hotel itself.

Another great place to eat is at restaurant 'Casa Turo' which is on the right hand side as you are walking to the beach. You get not only fantastic food here but also brilliant and friendly service. Make sure you are really hungry if you eat there thuough because portion sizes are generous and you even get a free wedge of melon at the end of your meal. I recommend the swordfish, anyone who loves fish will not be dissapointed with this meal. If you enjoy a bit of English culture and food still while your away then 'Buffis Bar' is the place to go. Its a small, friendly, family run bar/resturant which had just opened whlie I was there so they were still finding their feet, but everyday it got better and better. They serve proper english grub and the fry ups are to die for! Its on your left hand side on the way to to beach, not far past 'Casa Turo'.

You wont find alot of English tourist in Cala Mayor, but there are alot of English residents, some of which me and my partner made good friends with while we were there. Three of them were actually the family that own 'Buffis Bar' and the other two were friends of theirs. Fantastic people, our holiday wouldn,t have been the same with out them.
All in all lovely hotel, great location and friendly people. What more could you ask for.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Went on a short break on easyjet in Nov. Hotel is 20 euro taxi ride from airport
Buses to Palma are 3 mins from hotel and go every 5 mins or so--cost 1 euro. Beach is small with very clean sea and sand only 2 min walk from hotel door.

Hotel was very quiet at this time but is surely worth it's 4 stars--food is above average and the rooms are most clean all with a sea view--in fact with the balcony doors open the place is so peaceful that you can fall asleep to the sound of the waves on the beach. The staff were most helpful and friendly--

all in all a good place to chill out in the off season and combine the seaside along with the accessability of the city of palma.

This hotel is a prime example that hotel star system means absolutly nothing, firstly the food was SWILL,nothing was freshly cooked, almost everything came out of a tin and anything leftover was reheated the folowing night and topped up with a "fresh" batch.

The hotel itself is tatty and depressing ,the room was dismal,"indoor heated pool" was a cold outdoor pool with a greenhouse slung over the top,the lifts were noisy ect. ect.ect.As for Cala Mayor it is a haven for beggers and alcoholics .

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

I ended up at the Uto Palace when we were recommended this by Octopus Travel as an alternative to Palma Nova.  The hotel is very clean and tidy and lives up to the 4*, it has a comfy bar area which reminded us of Griffyndor Common Room at Hogwarts!  Sloppy armchairs and wooden panelling!

The rooms are clean, spacious and well decorated with a lovely sea view over the harbour.  The air conditioning is fantastic!

There is a lovely big indoor pool for fitness swimming and a smaller outdoor one on a sun terrace, which juts out into the sea.  Indeed, it was only a little roll off the sunlounger into the sea by the side of you!  Lovely!

However, Palma Nova it was not.  It was like Mabelthorpe - one street set back from the sea!  There were very few bars, a couple of supermarkets, six hotels and two palm trees and that was it.  If you are expecting copious amounts of golden sands and promenades to stroll along at evening times, you will be sadly disappointed.  The beach is 150 metres long and is cut off at each end by rock formations.

I don't quite know how Octopus Travel could have compared this to Palma Nova.  We didn't want sun, sand, sangria, s*x and sick, but would have appreciated something a little more exciting than Cala Major.  We were only there a week, but struggled to eat at a different place each night.

It's a very Spanish orientated resort, as it should be allowed to be, with very few English voices heard all week.

To summarise, the hotel is outstanding, but is let down by its surroundings.

Don't expect to be able to see eviction nights on Big Brother or English teams in the Champions League in a gorgeous little bar on the sea front!  It's just not happening!  But the 106 goes straight to Palma Nova, Magalluf and the water parks and Pirates.  It reverses to Palma too, as does the number 3 - Palma to Illetes. Get a timetable from reception.  You'll need it!
