Hotel/Apts were spotlessly clean, the maid service was everyday except Sunday and Wednesday.The beds were changed along with the towels.
The pool was always clean and busy.Often had a problem getting a sun lounger with people leaving their towels and going away for a couple of hours at a time,completely ignoring the signage stating otherwise.
There was a full entertainment programme everynight and a kids club through the day. 
Reception was open 24 hours,all staff were very helpful and cheery.
Eating out was fantastic you could eat out from 32 euros at Champions (try the battered fish)or 65 euros at Ola's (try the skewered chicken)these prices were for a family of 4 and included a round of drinks.

Thomson reps were there everyday.

This was mine and my boyfriends first holiday away together and we throughely loved every minute. It was more of a relaxing get away rather that an 18 to 30's.

The apartments where clean and wellcoming. We stayed ina studio which was only small but fine for what we needed it for. It was cleaned every other day and we didnt find any bug apart frm a few little ants. The balcony was nice and big with a lovely veiw. The pool was nice and big and the little kiddies pool was serperate thank god!! lol We always managed to get a sun bed nomatter what time we went down.
The resort had plenty of nice places to eat especially El Torro which we visited twice because it was really nice and good value for money and waiter service. Plus we received free champagn. Some of the english bars looked a rip off so we didnt enter but we found a really good cocktail bar serving the best cocktails weve ever had! And trust us weve had alot! lol

Overall a really enjoyable holiday and would definatly consider going back again!!!

Spent a week at the Alcudia Beach Hotel, can't fault it at all, its ideally situated and everything is 5 / 10 mins walk away at most. This resort is really for families though and not suited to anyone looking to party hard all week (!) though bars & clubs do open until 6am if you want it.

I would go back again with my family but not with a group of single lads as not enough to do at night.

Overall, 9/10!

Alcudia Beach Apartments were clean bright and large enough for family of four. Pool area was great for kids, and cleaned every day.
the apartment are in great location, five minutes from beach, which i am pleased to report now has more crossings across busy road, big improvement from sept 06. The beach is gorgess, safe, clean and one of the best by far.
Alcudia beach apts enterteinmnet was boring and minty quite unfriendly, dont bother with it instead go to the sea club apartmnets which has two or three different acts on a night.
alcudia is great for familys and i would recommend alcudia beach apts for location alone. 

we are returning in sept we love alcudia.

The appartments were not good, probably the worst we have stopped in, though we hav usually been lucky, and may I say, that according to the large female receptionist with glasses, the room was our fault for having a studio, and for £25 more we could have had a better room, this was something we didnt know when we booked for 2 people, we were advised to go for the studio so we did. Really bizarre the way the beds when put together, made a large cot, which i didnt fit into and i'm not particularily large.
When we first went into the room we noticed a dank smell, later to be found to be as a result of the cleaners clearly using the same water for every room floor.
Having said that, the rooms were kept very clean.

we ate at several restaurants, had a few beers at many more and sang at a few.
We spent some time in the GREASY MILE, the main row of shops and entertainment for youngsters and adults alike,and enjoyed the stunning beach, sea and long beach walks, just what we needed with great weather and clear sea, really nice.

We enjoyed a horse carriage ride-not too expensive, 20 euros for 20 mins, with passers by waving, great fun.
Cheapest fags shop was TABACS on the main road near to the Foxy bar owned by a family from Leicester.
there were some fantastic tribute bands at other hotels 'Take That' and Queen to mention a few, but they move around, so you would have to find out where they were next.

The last night was spoilt by some clever bald guy urinating onto the canopy above the entrance as we entered the place, we showed the night porter and showed him the moron and told the Thompson rep the next day, we heard nothing more from either. I only assume it is a common occurance and they didnt care.

Otherwise a 7 out of 10 holiday, and we have decided that we would probably go back to the resort but NOT the Alcudia Beach Appts.
Nice pools and the evening entertainmenmt manager 'Minty' is a nice bloke.

We chose this holiday from the Thomson web page, as we liked the look of the area and hotel.  We were not disappointed!

The rooms were basic but very clean, there was a fridge, microwave and a 2 ring cooker (which we never used).

The public areas of the hotel such as the bar reception and restaurant were of a very high standard along with the staff who could not be any more helpful.

The restaurant food is a must for quality and price - we ordered Lamb Chops one day and ended up with 5 each!!!! but they did taste lovely they came with chips and salad and all for 7.90 Euro (up the road the same meal was 15.00 Euro!!!)

The pool area was lovely plenty of safe areas for little one -as we found a must as we had left ours behind!!! Loads of sun beds so no need for the towel saving saga!

The beach is lovely plenty of sun beds there - But watch out for the lady charging for them as the price seemed to differ per person!!! The port is a lovely walk of about 20 minutes or so or in our case over an hour as we popped in every shop on the way.  But the port is picturesque.

We took a walk up to the british end and all the shops, must admit we did not visit any of the pubs as that is what we wanted to get away from, but again the shops are worth a look - bartering is a must with the market stalls.

We only chose one trip through out our week and that was to Marineland in Palma.
Its small but alot there and the Sea Lion and Dolphin show is a must - there was also a Parrot show but we gave that a miss!!

All in all it was a brilliant holiday and fingers crossed we are going back next year (minus kids again!!!)

Booked a two week holiday at the Alcudia Beach Apts. Just got back today, feeling relaxed, and overall we have had a good holiday.

Beach is five mins walk away, and even though you have to cross a busy main road, plently of crossing places.

There is a Spar on the corner right by the hotel, shopped there most mornings for fresh crossiants yummy!

We were on the fifth floor overlooking the pool, breath taking view, never got fed up waking up to that. Balcony a good size, had a door leading from the bedroom on to it, so didn't have to disturb the kids in a morning.

We did think some of the decor i.e partly thread bare carpets in our fifth floor hallway and paint work chipping could be sorted out, some areas looked "tired"

As already said on another review  noises could be heard from other rooms,and nothing worse than the room next doors family sitting chatting on the balcony at 2 a.m.

The entertainment in the hotel, well we thought it wasn't very good, mini disco from nine, then either local acts or karaoke. We did go to a neighbouring hotel who had super acts on and watched them. Perhaps Alcudia beach could take a leaf out of their book.

We can recommend Roma and Shakespears for food. Roma is a proper resturant and the service is superb, Shakespears is a english bar type place, but staff are friendly and I can recommend the Hunters Chicken, fab!

The staff in the hotel were very friendly, and overall the hotel and pool area were kept clean. We never had any problems with sunbeds,always managed to get four together. Pool was cold on first getting in, but felt warmer after you had been in a few mins.
Our kids spent a lot of time in the pool and ready enjoyed it.

So overall I would recommend Alcudia beach for a family holiday, just personally more varied entertainment would be good

Resort - Not much variation in types of places to eat.  Lots of "steakhouses" serving the same type of food.

Apartments
Good points:- Very clean, good service and staff, nice pool area, nice bar and restautant.

Bad points:- Very noise at the front of the apartments.  Lots of people coming home in the early hours (03:00 to05:00), making lots of noise as they passed the apartments.  Also lots of younger holidaymakers in the appartment were coming in up to 03:00 in the morning and making a lot of noise in their rooms (singing, shouting, swearing, etc), for up to 2 hours.  Management didn't seem to segregate these from families.  If you have an option ask for a room at the back, (overlooking the pool), and not adjacent to the lifts or stairwell.

Alcudia Beach Hotel is a nice clean hotel in a fairly central location. The beach is 5 mins away (across a fairly busy road) and 5 mins to the lively Bellevue strip and 10 mins to the nicer Port area.

The hotel staff were polite and friendly and it is good for families. For the 3 of us the room was OK, however it was easily the smallest I'd stayed in. If there are 4 of you it will be Cramped!

The main probelem we found was the noise. The walls are paper thin and you are able to hear everything going on next door and around you. If you want an early night or even a late start forget it.

Alcudia itself was a livelier resort than we had thought. Particularly the Belle Vue area. Plenty of nice family friendly restaurants, if you avoid the inevitable British Breakfast emporiums. Roma was an excellent italian restaurant. The peach pit was very popoular with our 3 yr old- particularly the TV characters that entertain at 9 Pm.

Generally Alcudia suffers from the Souvenir Shop every 2 metres syndrome, but the best thing was the BEACH. It is gorgeous and goes in for miles. It was quite busy in off-season however and I would dread to think what it would be like in the school holidays.

Booked holiday thru Ice lolly where after booking were told we would be going with Thomson on a Thomson Family saver, this is where you have allocation on arival but know it is 1 out of 3 hotels named in the brochure. £1070 for 2 adults and 2 kids during whit week flying out at 7:00am. Tickets arrived next day and had 4 Adults on them so I phoned icelolly to explain. I was told it did not matter as long as the names were correct and that is why they get the holiday cheaper because with children they add room supplements. Went on to Thomson website and instead of entering 2 adults and 2 kids I entered 4 adults and could have got the same holiday for £200 cheaper! So there's a TIP for anyone booking with kids.

HOTEL - clean rooms, air con/heating but noticed no extract system for toilet/bathroom. Also noticed on a night when going back to the hotel the smell of cigarette smoke in the reception area was HORRENDOUS! Beware, no locks on patio doors only the plastic handle to lock in place. I went on the balcony and shut the doors and easily opened them just by pushing the door inwards. the pool was clean but cold and we found some mornings there were no beds available but other mornings there were, we think it depended on when the days of flights were.
Entertainment in hotel Poor! considering it was a Thomson Family resort. Minty he was called, did his best but on his own. Kids club advertised but never open (whit week remember, when there was a lot of kids there). Nightly the odd local act or bingo/quiz.

The resort of Alcudia has a lovely beach but trying to get to it is like trying to cross the A1 with a very busy main road seperating the beach from the main strip. If you are looking for a bit of spanish culture try the port area as the main area is 90% British Bars serving British Beer and British Food. Fine if you like that sort of thing. Was recommended Cheers bar, great but same old thing every night.
Eat out every night and can recommend Romas, kids also loved their spaghetti bolognase. You can tell the best restaurants by the amount of people in them.
Finally, whether it was because it was the week before the world cup started but everywhere you went it was full of bald middle aged men in England football shirts, amazing!

Will not be returning to Alcudia.

Apartment was very good, very clean and staff friendly and helpful. Although we didn't have kids and the hotel's entertainment was mainly geared towards them, we found the stage shows (magicians, singers etc) and on site entertainer quite amusing, especially after a few cocktails in the bar! Breakfast buffet is highly recommended at only 6e inc hot and cold drinks.

Main downside with resort is a lack of decent restaurants, esp in area directly surrounding the hotel. If you don't want to live on a diet of fried chicken, poorly cooked pizza or veal burgers you're going to have a problem. We found the best food in the Port area which was quite a pleasant walk along the sea front. Avoid the restaurants near the beach however if you're looking to get a decent sandwich, on ordering a ham and cheese we begrudgingly received two slices of bread/toast with one transparent piece of processed ham and a equally flimsy slice of processed cheese. People around us did seem to have reasonably garnished veal burgers.
The best places to eat appeared to be set back from the front road of the port. If you have a wander around about 7/8ish you'll get a good idea of the popular ones and pay particular interest to those where the natives are eating, definately the better venues.

Resort was fairly quiet, mainly English and German tourists. Not a great amount to do on an evening other than hotel entertainment. Restaurants didn't appear to have any Spanish themed evenings unlike Greece where they provide an insight into the local culture... you can only get so much from a veal burger!
30 min walk to the old town of Alcudia is recommended where eateries appeared more authentic and the menu more extensive. The environment also felt a lot friendlier and pleasant.

After reading the reviews on this site I decided to book a weeks holiday to these apartments and I wasn't dissapointed. The aprthotel is very clean and is in an excellent spot - close to the centre and beach but quite! the pool is excellent and doesnt get over crowded.
I would recommend roma's for food and peach pit for drinks after 9pm where your kids will be entertained by the likes of bob the builder. also try the hotels entertainment at night where 'minty' will keep you entertained.

I read all the reviews on this site before we went and was not at all disappointed. 

It was the first family holiday abroad with the kids (and grandparents!). The hotel was fantastic, always very clean and no problem with noise. The reception staff always had a smile and were keen to teach the kids some spanish which they thought was great. We didn't really spend much time round the pool because we prefer the beach but the couple of times we did go there were loads of sunbeds available. On the subject of the beach - WOW! I can honestly say that it more than exceeded expectations. When ever we've been away with the kids before in the UK (usually Cornwall) they've never ventured into the water - but in Alcudia they were straight in. The water is really clear and shallow, you can go really far out and still not be out of your depth. We'd recommend a day out at the water park, which is within walking distance - only thing was the water in the pools was freezing, didn't bother the kids though!

We'd have no hesitation to go back and  would definitely stay in these apartments again.

Had a lovely time in Alcudia.  3rd time I have been to majorca, and found this to be one of the best resorts yet. Went for one week at the end of September 2005. 

Upon arriving, quite late at the resort and due to the rain, we decided to go some where near for something to eat, and unfortunately choose the chinese just around the corner.  We were the only people in there.  WE both ordered sweet and sour chicken, it was awful.  The pineapple tasted like it came out of a tin, not nice at all.  So I would avoid that one. 

The apartment itself was very clean, lovely view and did not find it noisy at all, went out like the light (the sangria may of had something to do with that)  The staff were very helpful and friendly, (however, the entertainment was a more miss than hit) The bar prices were very reasonable as well, even though we would end up there for a night cap.  The pool was absolutely freezing, but once you were in for about couple of  mins it was fine, certainly good for hangover cure!!  The beach was not far away (10 minutes) and was really lovely, ended up going to more often as it has a lovely breeze, and the sea was not as cold!.

After the chinese restaurant incident, we actually found some really nice eating places.  But we wish we went to the Alcudia Port sooner as it was lovely views and the prices for the meals were less expensive.  One night we also tried the horse and carridge on the way back, all I can say is I glad I had that brandy to finish of my meal, but it was fun!

We would certainly go again!  And would recommend it if your looking for a relaxing easy going holiday

Just returned from our holiday to Alcudia and really can't fault it. 

I'm very fussy and have high standards, and this applies to my holidays as well.  The accommodation, for 3* was brilliant, room clean, pool spotless, bar area well layed out, staff friendly and helpful, location was good.  We hired a carso ventured out of resort a lot of the time, where we were located was a little away from the centre of Alcudia and from Porte d'Alcudia.  No problem with a car but it would be too far to walk.  There were however bars, restaurants etc. near us but if you wanted more you would certainly need transort of some kind.  

We hadn't gone with Thomson's before but would certainly recommend them. We drove to the Western Waterpark in Magaluf, which has a western theme, probably better for older members of family as it has high flumes. There are 2 waterparks in Magaluf, both next to each other, the other one being Aqualand. We visited Marineland, and although the sealion and dolphin shows were excellent, park didn't really have that much more to offer. We went out on the organised catamaran trip, this was quite crowded, with everyone wanting to sit on the nets but only room for probably 1/3 of them, BBQ on board was great, and my husband enjoyed snorkelling at cove we stopped at (snorkelling, canoes, flippers all provided). 

We'd have no hesitation in going back to this resort or hotel.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Just arrived back from this resort and accommodation.  We had 14 nights and enjoyed every one of them.  Apartments very clean - maids came in every day apart from Wednesday and Sunday.  Towels were changed everytime they came, beds made and floors washed (I know this because on a couple of occasions we got back to the room just after they had left and the floors were still wet). Equipment in the kitchen area of the apartment was quite basic although we did have a microwave and toaster!

Swimming pool very clean.  We found it easier to go down about 9ish to the pool to get sunbeds as they could go quite quickly.  This wasnt a problem as the sun was out at that time anyway!

The hotel itself was very nice indeed.  Very nicely decorated and always very clean.  We didnt really use the hotel in the evenings but there always seemed to be entertainment, bingo, karaoke, drag shows etc.  A couple of Pool tables and a few arcade games.  We had the breakfast once in the dining room and it was very nice.

Absolutely gorgeous beaches and I understand that you pay for your sunbeds but we didnt spend that much time down there so cant tell you how much.

Lots of very nice places to eat.  We had a lovely Indian meal in the New Dehli, a really nice Tex Mex at the Dakota TexMex Restaurant.  These are both at the Port.  If you like well cooked English food we can highly recommend The Foxes Arms and Bugs Bunny run by Paco and Marta.  To find The Foxes Arms, come out of apartments, turn left, walk to end of road by supermarket, turn left and then keen walking.  Its along that road on the left.  Bugs Bunny, turn left when coming out of apartments, at bottom of the road turn right, following road along to end, turn right and just keep walking you will see the sign for Bugs Bunny.  Just a bit down from Bugs Bunny is a bar called Goodfellas.  We only spent a short time in there but it really seems like a nice, lively place.  Quite new looking, good music and friendly staff - definitely worth a try.  There is also, if you want it, KFC, Pizza Hut and Burger.  We had something in each and it was all very nice.  Plenty of Internet connections, one in particular my daughter and her friend used was The Epcot.  This was right next to the Foxes Arms.

Im sure theres lots I have forgotten but all in all we had a fantastic time and would highly recommend it.

Just returned from the Alcudia Beach Apartments and can't praise these apartments enough. We have a 1 bedroom apt overlooking both pools.

This accomadation is 'Spotless' both apartments, reception, bars, rooms and especialy the pool areas.

We went in the 1st 2 weeks in August 2005 and still managed to get our 3 sunbeds everyday.

Reception, bar, cleaning & Rep staff were all excellent, every worker speaks excellent English.

I would recommend having the breakfast within the complex it is a buffet eat as much as you like (English) for only £4.50 - we eat one evening meal there and were not impressed.

We always go on holiday to the Canaries and found Alcudia very expensive to the likes of Tenerife or Gran Canaria.

The resort of Alcudia is excellent for families, no drunks falling around - but still lots of things to do and many many places to eat out and be entertained.

I will be sticking to the Canaries from now on - but just purely on (COST) but I can say the Alcudia Beach Apartments are the best we have stayed at in over 10 Years - so be at ease.

Just returned from a fantastic week in the Alcudia beach apartments. The hotel is ideal for young families with its 2 pools, but sometimes we had trouble finding a sunbed after about 10am, so we had to get up early to get one, but there again we expected this as it was the height of the season. Entertainment was OK, like some people have mentioned it's a bit dated, but the two girls worked tirelessly to entertain the children, but it was the same format each night. The only downside of the hotel was our studio apartment Room 009, this was very small and hardly enough room for 2 adults and a child. The hotel is ideally situated in the resort where you are about 10-15 mins walk away from the centre, but there's plenty of bars and restaurants on the way. We particularly enjoyed the Peach Pit (side of the cheers bar) where Neil (DJ) and the crew entertained us with characters like Bob the builder, Tweenies, Fimbles, my 4 year old loved it, although a little scared at first with these characters, but he soon settled down and enjoyed it immensely.

As for the restaurants of Alcudia we tried many places but found the food to be of poor standards, think we had one nice meal throughout our week stay. thought that the food was priced as you would pay in England and so to the beer, around 2.80 Euros for a pint of Carling or 2.50 Euros for San Miguel.

If you are planning on going any trips while you are there, then I recommend the Pirates Adventure in Magaluf. This was the highlight of our holiday. This is a delightful show for the kids and adults where you are entertained for 2 1/2 hours of non-stop fun and impressive acrobatic show. But be warned if you are taking kids take plenty of Euros as they will want to buy the souvenirs and this can work out quite expensive. They also do an adult uncut version of this show and would have loved to have seen this but sadly with a child in tow this couldn't be the case!
Another good excursion is the Nemo submarine trip also based in Magaluf. You sail out to a little island (20 mins) where you will pick the submarine and here you will dive to a depth of about 30m where you will see wrecks and great marine life, the best part of this trip is when the divers dive down to the sub and feed the massive shoals of fish right in front of your porthole, but be warned it is very hot onboard so take a small fan

All in all we had a brilliant time in Alcudia and will certainly be returning back again next year

We had a fantastic 10 day holiday at the Alcudia Beach.  

We were a little nervous as this was the first time we had booked flights and accomodation separately but it all worked perfectly.  We booked accomodation through Superbreak after seeing reviews for hotel on this site and seeing it featured in Thomson Brochure.  

Main attraction for us was that it had its own entertainment staff.  Flights were booked via Monarch on Internet flying from Manchester which is so much cheaper than flying from Glasgow.  We stayed in Travelodge accomodation both before and after flights but only paid £26 per night as we booked well in advance via Internet. We parked with APH in Manchester and have no hesitation in recommending any of the aforementioned Companies.  We prebooked a taxi from and to Palma Airport but perhaps paid a little over the odds for this but it was worthwhile for peace of mind and comfort.

The Alcudia Beach was fantastic for families.  Accomodation is basic but comfortable enough and the air conditioning is brilliant in both own rooms and public areas.  The entertainment girls (Sandra & Marta) were excellent.  Marta was great with kids - managed to get our 10 yr old daughter want to get up each morning for the "Club" which is no mean feat!!  Evening entertainment consisted of Mini Disco for younger kids at 9pm followed by more family oriented show at 10pm.  Some nights they had professional shows and others nights it was just the 2 girls but we enjoyed every one - particularly the night my wife won Miss Tropical - the photos are priceless!  Must also mention David the Spanish waiter who was great fun and always cheery - you must ask him to dance!!  

We particularly liked fact that the complex is not massive just big enough with cleanest pool area we've ever seen - even saw a member of staff picking up leaves by hand one day!  All in all a very safe environment for children to wander around both day and night and we were lucky to meet a great bunch of people whilst we were there.  A really relaxing holiday and highly recommend the Alcudia Beach.  Enjoy!!

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

We were allocated on arrival and so didn't specifically choose this hotel, but we had no reason to regret being placed here. Cooking facilities not up to much, but we didn't intend to use them anyway. Only other little gripe was that the sofa beds were fine as beds but very uncomfortable as sofas. Otherwise very clean, friendly and helpful staff, good convenient location, fun in the bar at night (bar staff are great!) and no problems with sunbeds.

We came to Alcudia to see our eldest daughter who moved out here earlier this year. That connection was obviously beneficial to us as regards finding out where to go and what to see. If you like Thai food she works at Khun Phanet restaurant which is on Avda de la Playa (three bus-stops away towards the port)opposite Hotel Baiha de Alcudia. I met Phanet in England last year and so immediately felt comfortable eating there. She will vary the chilli content of her dishes to your taste but beware if here daughter cooks for you - she makes 'em sadistically fierce!!

A few doors towards the beach is Sgt Pepper's bar which does a nice English breakfast. Dave, Jane and Ryan are great and looked after us really well.

However, I tend to avoid British establishments abroad. You can usually rely on lower prices and better hospitality in Spanish bars - if you can manage enough Spanish to order your drinks. We tried many but spent most of our time in Bar Norai just off the main road which comes into the prot from the old town. Owner Diego has little English but his barman is quite fluent. We were continually shown appreciation of our custom with free shots, nibbles, etc.

Our teenage girls greatly enjoyed the nightlife of Apotheket (turn left out of the hotel and left again). Pedro looked after them magnificently and we had no qualms about leaving them there until 5 am on those occasions when we were not up to it.

We didn't do any arranged tours - those offered by the holiday reps are never the best value - and we explored the island unguided. You are bound to come across leaflets from a local tour company offering excellent value tours about which we heard few complaints. Go for the one that includes a train ride to Soller and a boat trip to La Calobra. The drive back through the mountains is really spectacular and the whole thing costs only 19 euros. We calculated that it would cost over 30 euros to do this yourself by bus etc. The downside is that on all these tours you have to give up 90 minutes of your day for a 'presentation' of health products which, of course, they then try and sell to you. The commission earned from sales is what keeps the price of the tours down so it's fair enough, I guess.

All in all, a really good holiday and no problem recommending Alcudia Beach

Have just returned from Alcudia & the Aludia Beach Apartments/Hotel. We chose Alcudia as a resort based on the other useful reviews from this site. We wanted somewhere that was not as tacky and "full on" as Magaluf, but still offered bars and clubs for late night & early mornings out.

Alcudia offered a fairly good spread of nightlife, although some of the bars/clubs like Bells were not great, some very young girls and lads,15-16yrs be served anything they wanted! Found Linekers Bar just around the corner from Bells a good starting point. Cheers Fun Bar was not bad after 12.00, when the families had left, went on until 5.00am and although a bit rough around the edges, played some good tunes! However the 2 best clubs/bars were Magic and Menta. Magic is above Burger King near the Go Kart Track and Menta is about 100 yards aroung the corner. Both clubs were very well layed out and had a good feel to them, Magic winning by a head. Both were a bit dead during the week, but packed with Spanish, Brits and Germans on Friday & Saturday's. Prices not bad, Free to get into Magic & 8 Euros for Menta, both open until around 6.00am.

Eating out in Alcudia was fairly basic, all serving similar food, nothing great but okay. Did find some of the service could have been better. WARNING! The Libra Chinese restaurant/buffet just around the corner from the apartments on the main road should be avoided,greasy rubbish! Although not our thing on holiday, there are Burger Kings, Kentucky & Pizza Hut.

The best places to eat are in Alcudia Port, about 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes Taxi ride from apartments, great seafood and much better selection and service. Prices vary but you get what you pay for, our best was in the Port, big starters, wine,platter of seafood,steak,beers and desert for 3 people 100 Euros, superb meal but you pay for it, although could get a nice meal in the Port for about 65 Euros for 3 adults.

The beach in Alcudia is great with it's white sand strecthing for over a mile. The sea is clear, warm and great for kids as it is very shallow for quite a way out and not a pebble or stone in sight! There are beach front snack bars, the best of which is next to the peddlow hire, sun beds are about 3.00 Euros to hire all day.

Alcudia Beach Apartments are very nice, the entire place is kept to a good standard and we found all staff to be very friendly & helpful. The pool area was busy during the day, but not packed, there was always a chair or sun lounger to be found and the bar served cold drinks and snacks until around 6.00pm. Contrary to other reviews the pool was lovely, not to cold and was kept very clean. There are 2 pool tables and a small selection of arcade games available.
The evening entertainment in the bar sounded a bit dated, but we never actually experienecd this first hand, although the bar area was well set out and was open until around 1.00am

The apartments were clean and tidy and have everything you would need, towels changed 3 times a week and bedding twice. Our room (112) was directly above the main entrance on the 1st floor, so got a bit of noise with people coming and going, but nothing terrible. The only minor gripe is that the floor was not mopped once during our stay by the maids, although you are provided with a pan and brush. A previous review mentioned a water pipe noise which could be annoying, but this was just the waste desposal unit working after you flushed the toilet. All in all a very nice place to stay.

If you fancy other things to do try the Tennis courts 50 yds from the apartments 15.00 Euros for racket/ball hire & 1.5 hours on court. There is also the karting track opposite Magic, but for the best karting, take a trip to C'an Picafort for Spains largest outdoor track, a really good "Petrol Heads" day out! Aqualand in Arenal is not a bad water park, although a bit of a drive from Alcudia. Car Hire places are everywhere ours was from Rent-A-Car, Suzuki Jeep for 2 days, 116 Euros.

For a family resort you would be hard pushed to find a better resort than Alcudia, with the beach being the best i've seen in Spain or the Balearics.

Just got back from Alcudia Beach apts, Great holiday looking forward to going back, excellent location as we wheren't close to the main stretches to get any nightime disruption, recomend geting the mountain side of the hotel as great veiws but lots of sun, I noyticed the pool side was quite shady. Staff where quite frendily and rembered us by face and always happy to help. Breakfast was also good in the hotel, more expensive than the local restrances by buffett style so saved having to have lunch, We thought that the thomsons Tours were costley however was happy to help to let us know how to get etc, Looking forward to going back again. Tip: eat at the local spainish run restaurants, most on main strip rip you off and all pre cooked, We mainly stuck to Los Palmits dosent look that great but the best freshly cooked food by far the the staff are great!!!!!!!!!!!
cant wait to go back!

everything about this hotel is perfect 2 minate walk to beach,shops resteronts but at the same time very quite. the starf are very friendly and helpfull easy axess for wheelchair users as my wife is would highly recomed for familys and coupels will defantly be going back only downside if we had to put one is the water in the swimming pool was very cold .

Just got back from a 2 week stay at the Alcudia Beach (Aparthotel) in Alcudia, Mallorca which is situated perfectly in all directions for all your needs with brilliant views of the Mountains from most of the balconies, We had a front facing balcony which was spot on for us, a couple with no children, poolside balconies are great if you have kids but you don't seem to get the Sun on that side.

Our advice is to go and get your food shopping from the Syp (main super market)there are 2 of these that we know of the nearest is near the biggest of the 4 Burger Kings next to the round-a-bout with the big red twisted Doughnut in the middle (about 400 yards opposite) it's easily 50% cheaper than any of the many many Spar shops (kilo of Ham for 5 Euro's)

Loads of bars to choose from most of which are as tacky as you can get!!  The tackiest by far has to be The Prince of Wales Pub with it's flurescent Purple lights and Dancing "ladies" after 11pm - should win awards for giggle factor alone but the Beers are cheap.

If your into Clubbing like we are steer clear from Bells NightClub - it truly does Suck, Costs about 5 Euro's to get in and your 1st drink is free which is all fair and well but the Music is dreadfull, really bad mixing, old cringe worthy Tunes and drunken yob's on the dancefloor (shudder)

Eating out - You have to go to TROTAMUNDOS Catia is the owner of this Yummy Cafe Bar and she totally looked after us on the numerous occasions that we visited her - We had Egg and Chips x2 San Miguel Beers (large) x4 and basket snacks all for 9.60 Euros and she sat to chat with us and had time to teach us a little Spanish along the way TROTAMUNDOS can be found at AV. MEXICO, 14 - PTO. DE ALCUDIA.... Dead Opposite the reception area for Astoria Playa Hotel Tel. 636 104 509.

We over-heard one guest telling others only to go eat at Places that were always busy, we found this not to be the case and had poor service from the more busy Restaurents who were often very slow and of less than good quality so our advice is to try lots of differant places not just the busy ones !!

The beach can be found just 3 minutes walk from the Alcudia Beach hotel with nice white sands, Sunbeds are about 3 Euros each and you get charged to use the Toilets at the beach hut style Cafe's - Beware of the many Jellyfish if your swimming in the Sea.

We found our rooms very clean and can only praise the Chambermaids especially Lordes who always had a warm smile for us, Our rooms were swept and mopped out with each visit :o)

We had more than enough Cooking and storage space for what we needed - Our hob worked fine as did the fridge, loads of plates, cups etc!!  With clean Towells everyday apart from Sunday and Wednesday, We had some trouble with our Shower - the tempreture kept on changing and we struggled to get more than a trickle from it and when we told the male manager he just looked at us like we off our rockers ?

If your a couple that can't be doing with Screaming Babies then this is not the Hotel for you !!

We had SCREAMING and CRYING Babies in all directions of our bedroom from 4am till Midday we had constant baby noise so the walls must be very thin

The Hotel does have a noise policy but that only applies to Music (babies can scream all day but music has to be no louder than the TV sets which has a limiter set on them) Again the Male Manager was useless in this department !!

We found no trouble finding sunbeds by the Pool at all over the 2 weeks with plenty of space around the whole of the Pool area

There are showers for all to use by the pool to wash off any suncreams before using the 2 spacious pools but no-one seems to use them - WE only noticed them the day we were leaving.

Sandra works very hard as the hotel entertainer but some of her shows need a re-vamp - Boring for Adults - VERY Boring the younger people in the Audience.

All in all we had a fabulous time at the this Hotel and would most certainly visit again :oD

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

We booked our holiday by reading about the resort and Hotel through this site.  Everything that was said is true.  Its an excellent resort and Hotel.  

On arriving we were promtly shown to our rooms which were in a very clean condition and settled in straight away.  It did help having some other party members who were there before us, however the staff were more than helpful.  The hotel is spotless and probably the best we have stayed in, your appt,s are cleaned on a regular basis, however you may find that it isn't cleaned to the British standards, once you have got over this there'll be no prob's.

The two rep's (Sandra & Martha )and bar staff are worth a mention as they all work extremely hard to ensure you get the best from your Hols.  The shows are geared towards the kids but thats what we went for.  During the second week we tried the rest of the town out.  

Other places that haven't been mentioned so far are the Night Club called BELLS, graet place to get away until the early hours (0600hrs), The Tropicana Mini golf Club.  This place was the highlight for us, as you pay E15 for adults and E10 for the kids and the food, drink and live shows are included for free.  Usually the food is of a low standard, however it was wonderful, the drink included wine pop etc and the bands shown were great, (ask for John on the door he'll make sure you are catered for)

The last mention is just around the corner from the hotel, and i'm gutted we didn't find it until the second week is called Twister.  Ran by the brits, food (loads) is good, beers ice cold, live footy and happy hour between 2100 and 2200hrs every night.

I've put a stone, however already booking up for next year.

We had a fantastic holiday here, there were really only two low points we could find, one was the prices of the drinks in the Bar and the 2nd was the fact that the floors were not swept in the apartments when the maids had been in.  Everything else about these apartments were lovely, the staff were friendly and helpful as were the reps. 

The pool area was always lovely and clean and we did not have a problems with sunbeds, you had the occasional people who would get up a the crack of dawn (the Management have a No Sunbed Resevation policy here) and place towels on a few beds, we were alway able to get one though and there was 12 of us in our party.  Entertainment was low key but we went out every evening to different places to eat etc.  We liked Peach Pit, this was best value and huge portions, other places we liked were Cheers, the Golden Dragon Chinese and in the Port area we found a lovely English Fish and Chip Bar.

The Youthful members of our Party enjoyed Bells Disco and Club Menta which held foam parties and did not finish till the early hours.  The Twister Bar round the corner served Fantastic Cocktails and were English Staff and so friendly and funny serving us with Tequila Slammers for free.  We took a taxi into Puerto Pollensa which is a lovely little place to look around and we also spent a couple of nights in Can Picafort.  We also took a bus ride to The Alcudia Pins which we had stayed in before to see how it had changed since it had been refurbished, we had a good evening there and the bar prices were at least 1 euro cheaper each drink.

On the whole the holiday was a great one and we can honestly say that it has the best beach we have ever seen.

Just beware of the Spar shop next to the Bakery at the end of the road on the left, they charge you the wrong prices for things and they short change you.  The Bakery on the other had sell lovely rolls and cakes etc.  The best Spar we found was on the right hand side next to the Car hire place, here they sold cheap drink and did not diddle your change.

Hope if you go here you will enjoy it as much as we did.

Just arrived back from holiday at these apts, and had a brilliant time. The hotel is in a very central location, about 5 mins walk from Alcudia centre and 25-30 mins walk from the Port of Alcudia, but this was with a pushchair and a 5 year old!

The hotel reception staff were helpful and the general cleanliness of the hotel was very good. The cleaners didnt seem to do much floor sweeping in the apt, but my 2 year old enjoyed completing this task regularly!!! On a positive note, plenty of towels were provided and changed daily. Kitchen facilities very basic, but we ate out daily so this didnt bother us.

Sunbeds did not need to be reserved and could be secured until late morning. Seemed to be virtually all Brits at the hotel. 2 decent sized pools, one for the kids.

The entertainment team at the hotel organised activities daily (exc Mondays) but no pressure to participate. Kids could do water polo, colouring in etc and received t-shirts/certificates etc.

Alcudia centre itself was very child friendly. The waiters were brilliant with the kids and food served usually within 5 mins. We particularly enjoyed Roma Restaurant which was very plush but food very reasonable.  The Tropical Biergarten was also very good. This is a huge open air restaurant in the centre, and had live entertainment each night and kids climbing frames with slides etc either side, which was great when waiting for meal or relaxing after. As we have younger children, we tended to visit the Peach Pit at night. Each night a kids character e.g Bob, Teletubbie entertained the kids along with the dj's Neil and Shep, lollies and prizes for the kids.Loads of fun and kids loved it.

The Port of Alcudia is a little more up market. With younger children it was a bit more difficult to relax. But this was a nice change and we ate at El Yate which is a restaurant right at the end overlooking the beach before you come to bridge in the port centre. Stunning food!

Overall, really enjoyed Alcudia, and the apts. Hope to go back in the future.

Hotel.

Would just about recommend Alcudia Beach. Good quality hotel slightly let down by maids who didn't know how to clean floors. Comfortable accomodation and nice reception/downstairs. Quiet location superbly positioned half way between the centre and the port. No trouble crossing the road to get to the beach. 

Restuarant in hotel was poor, but this was not important due to good selection of nearby restuarants of varying styles (from authentic Spanish to Brits abroad egg and chips). Biggest problem we had with this hotel was the entertainment. The brochure states "full daytime and evening entertainment program by hotel entertainment team". But the "entertainemnt team" was a dutch girl who turned up for 1hr in the morning and 1hr in the afternoon, and stuck the kids in front of a video if it was raining. Evening entertainment was equally poor. Don't choose this for the entertainment: not a patch on somewhere like Palmeras Playas in Sa Coma.

Resort.

Alcudia is OK but not as good as I expected. Beach is big and sandy with safe shallow waters for toddlers, but I thought slightly smelly.

We're back to Menorca next year.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

This was our first holiday with our young son and we also had our elders with us, so we wanted an all round family holiday, good for youngsters and adults, flat (no hills please! A pushchair and an 83 yr old!), clean, nice food, nice beach etc. We actually looked on this site before booking and it helped us decide on Alcudia Beach. We were so pleased we did! 

We stayed in studios which were the end two on the 6th floor, with three fast lifts. We had a nice view and no other balconies around us. The studios were perfectly adequate, clean and fairly spacious. We did no cooking, intentionally, but prob would have found it hard to cook on facilities! Maids came 5 days out of 7 which was nice. 

Hotel staff excellent; Reception could speak English and the breakfast waitress, bar staff & Sandra the kids entertainer were all really nice and friendly. Phone in room which was FAIRLY cheap, the phones in the Reception area seemed a little more expensive to call the UK, but not much. 

Breakfast every morning for 6 euros/adult was amazing, everything you could want, but we did get a little sick after 14 days. Good kids club which our son was too young for, but he enjoyed the Children's disco which is on most nights in the bar area. Sandra was brilliant with them. Bit boring for adults but hey, it's for the kids! Other acts on some nights which we enjoyed. 

We spent most evenings after eating out here, very popular, bar staff good. Tried hotel evening meal one night, not much choice. Don't expect it to be like the breakfast! Other places to eat: Portofino's (fab with wonderfully friendly waiters), La Traviata's (pizzeria, don't speak much English tho) Roma steakhouse (good) and we happened across Le Jardin which is behind a tacky looking burger & chips place[Danny's?]on the main road, so there's no visual attraction from the street. It was beautiful inside, with the most delicious (kind of) gourmet food and the most attentive service. However, we were the only ones there at the time and it wasn't really the ideal place for a toddler! If you want something special and a LITTLE more expensive, go to Le Jardin. You get what you pay for.
The Spanish love kids and their attention to our son was lovely.

Alcudia itself was a nice place to stay, the beach was lovely and the sea a delight to swim in, albeit shallow for a distance. Shops not much, found more in Alcudia old town and Inca, where we went on market days. Inca trip wonderful but nowhere near long enough! Dolphin trip good but pricey (aren't they all?).
We had bad weather about half the holiday which lent itself to our forking out for trips out of boredom. We enjoyed the trips, but as said, they were pricey.

We all enjoyed ourselves so much that we're going again in 2005, staying again at Alcudia Beach. We're going to hire a car and "do" the trips ourselves.

Just returned from Alcudia after a 2 week break.  All the other comments on the site are pretty much the case, the apartments are not the cleanest in the world, and have very basic amenities.  The reception and pool area are spotless.  We found no problem getting loungers during our stay.  The hotel is mainly geared for younger kids than ours, so we tended to venture out on an evening to try and keep them amused.  We found the Chinese food very good and excellent value.  The other bars and restaurants served food which was much of a muchness, burgers, pizzas etc.  The Nevada British Pub served a 3 course meal for about 8 Euros, the food was ok, cheap and cheerful.  The best thing about Alcudia is the beach, its magnificent, white sand and shallow water. 

Take a walk to the Marina, its lovely there.  All in all we had a brill time, all I would say is that I think the resort is geared for small children, not stroppy teenagers, so my kids got a bit bored.  Also the people trying to sell watches and chains get on your nerves, they never leave you alone, but they do go away if you say no. 

However, the biggest problem Alcudia has is the mozzies, it was swarming with them.  Take industrial strength mozzy repellent and a machine.  We couldnt sit on our balcony at night as we got bitten to death!!  Apart from that, its fine, bit commercialised and geared for little kids, but the beach makes up for all that.  Enjoy your hols!!

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

This was me and boyfriends first holiday together, 

We stayed in an spacious apartment (617) - which had a lovely pool view. The Hotel itself was a very good 3 star. Facilities wise it had a microwave, toaster, kettle, 2 electric hob ring, fridge and a Tv (had BBC1 and 2 and sky news) Just a note-it was impossible to cook anything on the hob- couldn't even boil an egg!!! 

The bedroom was very big and the maids made the beds every day except Wednesday and Sunday. From reading other reviews I can tell you that there is also a broom and dustpan, large Tea/coffee mugs since some people have gone. The only other bad thing was we had a few ants in our apartment- we were the sixth floor!! Not manly but i was glad we had a broom!

The pool area was nice-enough sunbeds for everyone though towards the end things started to get a bit more packed. Pool was freezing- But they have nice shallow areas for me to cool me toes! When it got busy the beach was only across the road and it was lovely and clean.

Around the time we went the weather was a bit uns2ttled with it being very cloudy for half the holiday! The only plus side of going so early was that there were no mozzies!   

Food wise as a whole we felt really dissapointed with the choice avaliable- steak and kebab anyone? The main street was mainly that, a few chinese and the British Pubs. For us the Restaurant Roma came highly Recommended- a great Italian that served by far the best food on the resort- OLA was good too however the German on the front made us feel uncomfortable for not going back!! 

The resort is quite small with the usual souvenirs oferrings so after a week it did get abit sick of seeing the same shops. On Sunday and Tuesday- Alcudia Market offers loads of handbags, fake designer sunglasses/watches, jewellery etc- just make sure you haggle well! This is also true of Thursdays Inca Market which is a much bigger market of simiilar goods! We also went to the Caves of Drach which was difeerent and relaxing though it was a bummer as no cameras/camcorders were allowed.

I felt that Alcudai is much more a holiday destination for families and older couples, a great holiday if you just want to relax rather than explore.

our holiday was fab it was exactly wot we wanted n we us avin alot of kidz 2 keep happy lol. We had 2 separate rooms across the corridor a 1 bed apt n a studio. These were very clean apts.
The pool area woz kept clean we did ave 2 fite alot 4 sunbeds n even tho people were askd not 2  put towels on the beds until they came dwn from there rooms peole ignored this n towels were lay on sunbeds all mornin if the people had gone sum where else.The floor around the pool woz very hot as the time of year we went it woz a heatwave the hotteset alcudia had seen in 30 yrs.there is 1 problem woth the set out is there is a play area which is quite close to the swimming pool even tho the pool isnt v deep it cud b dangerous if u left ur child alone. There is also a ramp which is easy 2 access 4 push chaira and wheel chairs but can get very slippy which can b a problem.

The beach is absoulty lovely its lovely n golden sanded. The beach bar is very gud idea but is very ova priced n u cnt sit there for shade as u have 2 buy sumthin. this woz a problem as our 1 yr old was gettin v.aggetrated. The sea is a lovely blue colour and u can c rit 2 the bottom which is gud. But 2 of us did get a ear infection from the sea which woz upsettin as they couldnt go in the pool in case they gave it sum1 else. and 2 c the doctor was 80 euros which is alot 4 2 people!! 

There is many resturants n bars in alcudia theree is a buger king and kfc for those who like that sort of thing and for the very young children there is cheers and the peach pit where different tv vharacters appear on different days theses are next door to each other.There is many different steak houses and chinese resturants.
But if u r thinkin of goin 2 acludia beach go with the feeli u will not regret it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!we will definatly b returnin

wev'e been to alcudia for 10 years and never had a problem the more you go the more you find out. prices o/k if you know where to go britania's the best place for food (sunday dinner)and the jolly roger bar exellent for chilling out by its own pool (top food)appartments spot on. tv aircon/microwave etc good place to take kids (not noisy benidorm) more relaxed but good entertainment if you look for it .also get out and about buses are cheap top market / nice harbour the beach is exellent /hotels/we took a small toaster some hotels are very basic not enough utensils but plenty of shops and not to expensive /and most food in super markets are good brands /also beer is quite cheap and a good selection of english beers ie'boddies/carling/fosters/guinness etc also not a rowdy place at night which is ideal if you are with children you feel safe and you can let them wonder a bit no problem.if you book alcudia its money well spent ideal for family's and one of them places you go back to .if you book try the alcudia centre/sol de alcudia appartments/lagoon centre 2/all o/k
and your not constantly getting your head pecked with pr people with vouchers and tickets .even the lucky lucky men are only a few (not in your face)

anyway i.m going back this year sept sadly in the bellvue appartments (butlins)with loads a pools good entertainment bowling alley you don.t know what your missing   see ya   dave

2nd to 16th july 2007,hotel in playa de muro on the beach,top location,best beach in spain that i have seen,came 2 years ago stayed at condessa so know area well,plenty shops,restaurants on doorstep,

we booked half board but still ate out twice,upgraded to all inc,more about that later,brit bars in area,out hotel turn left cross over 2nd street on right or cheers bar turn right 100 yards to crossroad turn left over the bridge or turn right at crossroad for swan bar ,play bingo and good brit food, ps good beach bar just past swan,relaxed and friendly,

couple of tips,boat trips dont book with rep go to wooden pier left on beach out of hotel book there,and second if you want all inc book upgrade at hotel desk half board to all inc 14 euros per adult per day,we drink more than that in the evening let alone lunch,water,ice cream,pop,cake,tea,coffee etc. now to the hotel,asked for sea view also e mailed iberostar site same request got no reply but got sea view,fantastic 6th floor and panoramic,hotel in top condition,staff friendly,didnt see one bike,mainly german guests sprinkling of italians and spanish not many brits,we enjoy our own company so that was fine,most germans said hello knowing we were english,never found them a problem ,

the food was good for a spanish hotel all rooms very clean,pool area spotless,entertainment for kids ie mini disco best ive seen evening shows by the animation team was second to none the prof shows twice a week were inferior, go out on those nights,all inc at bar,drop 5 euros a night in jar and all you whisky baileys brandy etc will be top brands not local and huge measures ,

all in all great holiday,but its what you make it,back to work tom, ah well,enjoy alcudia park we did

We stayed in the Iberostar Alcudia Park for 1 week in May 2007.  Hotel is situated in the Playa Del Muro part of Alcudia, about a 30 minute walk from the bellevue strip etc.  

Initial impression was hotel was immaculately kept, reception, poolside areas etc are spotless.  We booked self catering due to a fussy eating 2yr old but were really disappointed with the facilities which were very poor.  There is a double ring hob (which takes ages to heat up), fridge and sink.  If you want to hire a kettle/toaster you need to pay extra and also pay deposit.  It took us a while to actually sort this out because the staff on reception speak very poor english and we had to go back to sort it out the following morning. 

We booked with Thomas Cook and requested a low floor, quiet room, with a pool view.  We didn't get any of these requests though.  They placed us in a room next to the main road no view at all.  Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of rooms that have fantastic views but it seems that they get allocated to the german holidaymakers.  I would say the British are definitely the minority at this hotel.  The hotel is made up of mainly german cycle enthusiasts.  You will find bikes all over the hotel.  The entire staff are mainly german along with the entertainment staff.  I can't say we were bothered with the germans but you do get the rude attitude sometimes when it comes to waiting for lifts and the usual scrabble for the sunbeds in the mornings.  Hotel rooms were cleaned every day and beds were changed once while we were there.  Floor in the hotel room was filthy though.  We were plagued by ants.  They seemed to be coming in through the balcony door.  We reported it at reception on the first day and a cleaner came around armed with a Raid Ant Spray.  She killed the ants that were around and cleaned them up lovely but sure enough they came back again and again.  The best part of this hotel is it is situated on the beach which is stunning.  It's very well kept and the sea is so clear and shallow, it really is beatiful.  Didn't eat in the hotel at all as we were self catering so cannot comment about the food.  There are shops and restaurants outside the hotel which stock all the usual gifts and groceries.  Ate in quite a few of the restaurants.  Have to rave about the steakhouse Topo Gigio, the steak there is absolutely perfect, a bit more pricey than the others but definitely worth the extra.  Las Cavelas was another nice one directly opposite the hotel, well recommended.  There is a really good park behind the Oasis pub which we found by accident.  This entertained our son all week.  It has a big bouncy castle, trampolines, mini golf, mini motorbikes, you have to pay for it all but it's great for kids. 

Went on one trip with Thomas Cook to Marineland then Golf Fantasia afterwards.  Marineland ok but very small, you can walk around in about half an hour.  Golf was worth a visit.  Only downside was we were on the coach for absolutely ages.  They picked us up in the hotel at 8am and we arrived at Marineland at about 10.20am.

All in all it was a lovely holiday.  Weather was really hot all week.  A nice hotel in a perfect location but we won't be staying there again.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

This was the 4th time we have stayed at the Alcudia Park. 

The hotel is right on the excellent beach of Playa de Muro.  The swimming pools are very good and surrounding gardens and terraces kept immaculate. There is the usual scrabble for sun loungers, although they were kept chained up until 8.30am so it wasn't too bad. We always stay half board and the food is very good and varied, (even suiting a very fussy 5 year old)This year I noticed most people were on all inclusive. The rooms were of a good standard, however I would say that the self catering facilities are basic, just 2 rings, utensils and a fridge. Some rooms overlook the busy road and others the bins so I would request a room which overlooks the pool and beach away from the entertainment stage. 

This hotel attracts mixed nationalities.  Our kids didnt use the childrens clubs this time but from past years they were mainly German children which our children found difficult as they had lost interest by the time a game had been explained in 3 different languages with English last. The entertainment was good with the hotel entertainment team working so hard. Our kids loved the daily 'Smiley show' and were soon singing the songs day and night !

It seems that at this hotel, the British are very much the poor relations.
The hotel very much caters for Germans. When we stayed there, it would be fair to say that 95% of the guests were Germans on fully inclusive holidays. Seemed that all the Brits were given the rooms overlooking the dustbins. We were also next to a very busy road, and there was constant traffic noise day and night. It was also common practice for the bottle bank outside our window to be emptied at 3.00am every morning.
The room itself was OK, but nothing special. The hotel staff were pleasent and friendly enough though. Our rep, Adam, was also a nice helpful chap.
The kids clubs and entertainment were all in German, so not a great deal of use to us.

On a plus note, the hotel is right next to the beach. The beach itself was pleasent enough, but very crowded.
The hotel is situated in the suburbs of Alcudia, and there really is not a great deal to do there. You need to take a bus to get to the main resort.
We found Smiths Pub a good place to eat, having a good and varied menu.
We stayed at Alcudia Park for two weeks, but in all honesty, a week would have been enough.
Not somewhere we would want to return to.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

This was our first holiday abroad as a family.  This hotel is part of the Iberostar Hotel Chain.  The hotel is spotlessly clean and has all you would expect from a 4 star hotel.  The maid cleaned the room thoroughly every day and we had fresh sheets on the bed every third night.  There were lots of lovely touches such as leaving our little girl a lollipop on her pillow each day together with a beautifully folded nightie and well positioned cuddly toy.  The room was booked as a studio but had a separate twin bedroom and bathroom with half length bath and shower.  The self catering facilties are very limited.  You get a fridge, sink and two electric rings.  Toasters and kettles have to be hired as extras. 

The mini club for children aged 5-8 was very well run.  It was open from 10.30am-1.00pm and again from 3.00pm-5.00pm with lots of games and activities including horse riding and t-shirt painting.  The only down side for our five year old was that as most of the children in the club were spanish and German by the time the leaders had translated their instruction into three languages her concentration was lost which at times she found frustrating.  It was interesting to watch all the children playing together with no language barrier just lots of smiling, hand holding and general jumping about.  There are plenty of activites available for adults also during the day.  Hubby is not one for lying in the sun and really enjoyed participating in the rifle shooting and archery competitions.  This hotel also has direct beach access.  The entertainment in the evening was limited but of a good standard, with kids dancing and games for an hour and then a cabaret or show.  This is not the hotel for you i you are a real night owl as the evening wound down by 11.30. 
The restaurants and shops opposite the hotel were of a good standard, we particularily liked Smiths Pub which serves home made chips!!

All in all it was an excellent choice for us first timers

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

Although we have rated the accomodation as good it will depend on the location of your room. We had the unfortunate situation where we were located directly underneath the rubbish bins on the first floor next to the main road.  Also diectly underneath us were delivery vehicles delivering all day and the bins being emptied at all times of the day and night.( we have pictures of the bins being emptied at midnight on 3 occasions).
As a big part of our holiday is relaxing on the balcony with a nice drink it was impossible with the noise and the flies from the bins and completly spoiled the holiday.  I can only presume this was a problem for all the holidaymakers in this area of the hotel.

The hotel seems to cater for mostly Non English holiday makers on all inclusive. They seem to have the best room locations. This was backed up by the English holidaymakers we spoke to whom were loacted in other not so good locations.(ie over eltectric sub station)
Beside these points I rate the Hotel.
Cleanliness - Excelent
Staff  -  Excelent
Pool area - Very good(prepare to fight for a sunbed)
Entertainment -  Good
Self Catering facilities - Cooking facilities Poor.
Room - Clean and tidy.
The hotel is situated next to the beach which is graet for all you beach lovers.
Some very nice bars,and restraunts within walking distance.
10 min bus ride to Alcudia centre.
Nice hotel but beware your room loaction.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

We have just arrived back form a 2 week holiday in Alcudia Pins. My sister and her partner and 2 kids also came with us. Her kids were aged 2 and 5. 

The apartment was very small but overall clean. The pool area was great. Massive pool and 2 smaller pools, one with a slide for the kids. Lots of sunbeds but be prepared to get up early aroung 07.30 and stay with your beds until at least 09.00 or your towels will be removed by hotel staff. The beach is on your doorstep and is very nice. Hotel reps if you could call them that were awful the worst I have ever came across. They do not mix with the holiday makers at all and have no time for the children. If you happen to splash them they will not be happy. They did run activities but do not expect them to join in or enjoy themselves as they do not do this. Having been to lots of family run hotels with lots of reps this was the worst by far. 

Do not go on a trip called Rancho Grande, unless you want to be ripped off. We arrived at 18.15, and were told we would be on a horse by 18.30. We went on the horse at 20.00. We were not fed until 22.30. The food was awful. 1 stick of chicken, 1 pork chop that was full of fat and 1 baked potato, all of which was covered in flies. The whole night was a waste of money. The best night out was The Pirates. Fantastic. 

The Alcudia Pins is a bit away from the main bit of Alcudia so be prepared to get the bus. But be aware that the last bus is at 22.10. I would go back but would hope the reps would have been replaced by then. 

Lovely weather and overall a very good holiday, lots to do in the complex.

We have just come back from a weeks holiday at the alcudia pins. we all loved it and will definately be returning to this hotel. i was initially put off by some of the reviews but i need not of worried as it was great. The hotel was very clean and our rooms were cleaned every other day! The cleaners all work very hard!!!The pool was fantastic, water slides,spa etc. The pool was very clean and was checked regularly through out the day. The beach is amazing, beautiful golden sand and what a view. once again, really clean! The food was okay, nice burger bar and pizza/italian restaurant. Its a half hour walk to alcudia, we walked it once and it was quite a nice stroll. This hotel is brilliant for families and we will be returning at some point in the future. Oh, the entertainment wasnt great but it was acceptable and they all tried their best to keep everyone entertained.

Went to alcudia pins on 15th may 07 for a week. We had a great time we were not sure if we were going to like it as there was not alot around the hotel. But there were shops,restarants and arcades. There is pony rides to its a very nice place. You can get busses to can,picafort or alcudia town and its not expencive. There is also a taxi rank right out side the hotel. The bull stake house is a lovely place to eat out well so are the other 3 places to. 

The hotel is very nice the rooms are very clean and tidy. The maids cleaned every other day but do not wash up ha! would have been nice if they did. the pool was tested about 4 to 5 times a day its very claen. The beach is fab cant say much else about that its just fantastic racked every night. The entertainment was not that good though must warn you. The burger pins and pizza place was very nice food. 

all in all a very good holiday and will be returning back with out a doubt. PLEASE GO HERE ITS FAB!!!!

Just come back from 10 days staying half board at Alcudia Pins, Weather very hot,Hotel lovely and very clean.. Staff all friendly and made us all feel welcome.

Food average,  ate out a couple of times, there is a nice Italian and Steak house round the corner from the hotel..

Beaches are very clean and tidy and the sea is beauiful..

Entertainment at the night is ok but could be better.

We read the horror reviews that this great place had, I think they are from another planet ???    most hotel or appartments that cater form kids have a relaxed atmosphere this is no diffrent but what it has that most dont is a great location, the beach is right on the door step and is clean and safe for kids. It does have a quiet location but if you want more nightlife then Taxi's are good value at 8euro's for the trip into Alcudia town or old port where you have a great chioce of resturants and bars. I would say this complex is for famillies but for a week to relax it is ideal for the plus 40's

As I visited this resort/hotel 3 years ago, I was anxious to return with my daughter.  We had a fantastic relaxing week.  My daughter enjoyed it and loved the entertainment at night.  One evening we arrived back to the apartment and there was a bottle of champagne on the counter from the Hotel welcoming me back again.  They had a record that I had visited before.  I thought that was a nice touch.  As the hotel has everything we did not venture out much except into Alcudia for some shopping.  Plenty of restaurants/shops close at hand.  The beach is great and very close.  

I must say the Entertainment team deserves credit - every night they entertained the kids and adults.  They put a lot of time/effort into their work.  Thanks guys - you really made our holiday.

Our apartment destination was changed by Direct Holidays on the Tuesday before we were to leave on the Saturday.  I was not very pleased!  

We arrived at Alcudia Pins at about 11.30 at night, check in was quite quick and we went to our room. It was nice, clean and was over reception.  I didnt mind this as you didn't hear all the noise from pool area.  As i said the room was quite nice but was on the small side, big enough for myself & hubby, but I wouldn't have like to stay in room with more people. The cleaner was friendly and cleaned, changed towels every other day.  We had to go and ask if our bed could be changed on our 6th day, husband was told that they were cleaned every 5 Days but ours was not. Somebody came the same afternoon to clean it. With so many appartment on site I think this was just one of those things. 

After we got to room on first night we decided to go down to the bar, there was about 6 people in the place, it was like that for the two weeks we were there.  There is nothing to do after 11.30 even the resteraunts shut around the complex.

We had a few good nights in C an Picafort, which had quite a few bars and much better night life. 

The world cup was on when we went and we were pleased that we had BBC1 to catch up on the matches, unfortunatly the hotel turned it off on the Sunday night after we arrived, they said there was a fault on the Satalite but we were still getting CBBC, the reps said it was because they wanted everyone in the bars to watch the football, we never did get it put back on.

This might be a great holiday for kids but not for those who are looking for a bit of night life, we are both in our late 40's so do not ask for discos on all night but for a resort to have no night life after 11.30 is a bit boaring to say the least.

May be it might get better as the season goes on.

The last thing I want to say is that the smell at night was horrible around the comple, it was rotten drains and it was rank. they should try to get some thing done about this.

We had a nice holiday but would not go back to the pins, it definatly for the kids!

Please dont be put off by the negative reports which you read about Alcudia Pins.  We appreciate that everyone likes something different from a holiday but we had a fabulous time and would highly recommend the Pins to anyone thinking of visiting Alcudia.  In fact we are more than likely to book again for next year.

It has everything to offer parents and children alike.  During the day they have a childrens entertainment team with many activities to keep the little ones happy.  They also have a creche for 0 - 3 year olds which our daughter loved and the nursery nurses Jo and Becci were lovely girls - the creche runs for up to 6 hours a day from 10 - 12, 1 - 3 and 4 - 6.  Three times a week they run the creche in the evenings from 7 - 9 to give the parents a well deserved couple of hours to enjoy a meal or a quiet drink on your balcony.  Obviously the childrens clubs and the creche come at a price - the creche costs 5 Euros per hour.

The hotel itself is lovely and very clean with an army of cleaners keeping everything spick n span.  The pool area is lovely and sun beds aplenty.  We had no problems getting beds at the pool - the hotel now has a policy regarding the reservation of sunbeds - if any towels are put down they are taken away to the bar and you have to retrieve them from there.  The only thing which we would say about the pool area is that it is very slippy and we witnessed children slipping on numerous occasions.  So our advice to parents is make sure you take swimming shoes with rubber soles for your children to prevent any accidents happening.

The entertainment in the evening is good although it can be slightly repetetive but the kids love it - kids disco from 8 - 9 then bingo then a live show.  Whilst we were there there was Mama Mia, Robbie Williams, Saturday Night Fever etc.   Enough to keep everyone happy. 

We had a fabulous room overlooking the pool area and we were able to hear the entertainment from our balcony (although we could not see it).  The room was kept clean, bins emptied every day, towels changed regularly and the room cleaned every other day.

The restaurants around the hotel were first class - we highly recommend the Le Embat restaurant which is situated on the hotel complex - fab pizzas and pasta and not expensive either.  Also recommend the Steak House.

All in all we had fab time - the Pins is slightly out of the way but we did not find this a problem.  Small fare in a taxi will take you into the centre of Alcudia.  We highly recommend the market which runs on a Tuesday and Sunday - bus stop right outside the hotel will take you straight there although we would point out that market finishes at 1 p.m. and the queues for buses and taxis are a nightmare - we had to queue for 1 hour 30 minutes.

The beach is fantastic - you basically walk off the pool area right on to the beach which is so clean and the water is shallow which is great for the little ones.  The views are fabulous.

We had absolutely no complaints about our holiday and the staff are all very friendly.  We hope anyone else who books to go to the Pins enjoys it as much as we did.

Well what can i say about the alcudia pins. WOW.  I first visited this hotel 12 years ago when i was 12 years old and it still held the magic that it had then.  I enjoyed the holiday so much then i wanted my children to hopefully experience what i did and i was not wrong.  This was there first holiday abroad and i even brought the grand parents along (handy babysitters)and they still go on about it everyday.

We arrived, after a 8 hour delay from newcastle at 2.30 in the morning.  All shattered we were welcomed by an accomodating, professional and swift service in reception and were given the cards to our rooms in under 20 mins.  The room was probably one of the best located rooms on the complex.  Room E107.  As it was dark when we arrived we didnt appreciate the view we had tillthe next morning. The accomodation was roomy, comfortable and very well equipped.  We each had a one bedroom apartment with lovely bathroom, the shower was heaven, well equipped kitchen, sofa bed and pull out bed underneath and a seperate bedroom seperated by sliding doors.  The balcony is spacious and roomy and even when all 6 of us were sitting outside there was still plenty of room.  You have sliding doors coming form the main liing area as well as the bedroom area.  We were on the ground floor qith a full pool view aqnd even a sea view, and at nightsa if you wanted to settle the kids down for the night you could sit out on your balcony and watch the evening entertainment form there.

ENTERTAINMENT:  If you are traveling with children and, as we say if the kids are happy your happy, this is the place to be!!!!!  The kids clubs were fantastic, morning afternoon and eveing sessions if the kids wanted to join in.  Then there are two sets of entertainers on the complex. One is form airtours the other is a northern european ents team which share the eveing entertainment and shows and thiouh the day try and get kids and adults together to join in the various activities they have going on.  Evening enttertainment starts with the mini disco at 8-9pm, cash bingo, which we won twice, altogether 300 quid woohoo, then either the reps or a professional act.  Although the kiddies disco songs can be repetative the kids enjoyed them and thts the mian thing

LOCATION:  The alcudia pins is situated right on a 8 mile stretch of beach.  Its shallow waters are warm and enviting and the cool on shore breeze makes it a welcome for the children.  Alcuidia port is about 8km away where as the prettier and more cosmopolitan area of c'an picafort is 3km away.  There is a bus stop right outside the apartments and also a taxi rank both are well priced.  Around the pins there is a few restaurants, amusements and bike hire and a good family oub called thye underground which serves delicious meals.  It is quite quiet around the pins but with so much to do inside and transport links readily available at least you are away from the hustle n busle and you can get a good nights sleep.

POOL: we went in early May so didnt find the pool area crowded and you could al;ways get a sunbed, although with 584 apqrtments i could see this being a problem in high season.  The pool water is tested three times daily and they is a army of cleaners making sure evrything is tip top

CLEANERS: what n amazing job they do, although they speak limited english they wer always happy and smiling and they did a great job of keeping the apatment adn the balcony clean, fresh towels every other day and bed linen changed at the same time.  Leave them a little something when you go as i think they do the best job on the resort.

This hotel is one of the best on the island and we are returning twice next year as it has all the activities and ammenties you could wish for.  One tip thou if you do go back, email them direct requesting the room or view you would like and they sort this out for you and even leave a welcome bottle of wine in your room if you are a repeat visitor

The alcudia pins is the best cant wait for the kids to grow up enjoying the place as much as i still do!!!!

We found the children's facilities at Alcudia Pins great as was the food. Apartment was fine, bedroom a bit small but views overlooking pool and so near the beach were fanastic. Staff were friendly and helpful.Entertainment was more geared for the children which we expected but not all night. However, great time was had by all of us, a party of ten which included fourty plus, a couple of twenty something years old as well as kids. 

I would definately recommend this hotel for any family.

Stayed at the Alcudia Pins from the 1st April 2006.  Apartments were really good, clean and well presented.  The Pins is situated directly on the the beach.  There is 8 mile of sand.  They have a great pool, which I would imagine would be very busy in the high season as I believe there is over 2000 guest.  I would definately recommend Alcudia Pins to families.  They have great activities during the day for children and toddlers.  My son is 13 and everyday he took part in more than 3 activities, rifle shooting, tennis, football, volleyball, basketball, darts and lots of games by the pool.
Alcudia Port is about 8km away which you need to get a taxi.  This costs about 10 euro.  Great places to eat at the port and well worth a visit.

Although this accommodation has 4 bars and 2 restuarnts on site unfortunately these were not available when we arrived.  There was only one bar and a self service restuarant. 
If you are going to visit this resort please do make sure that its open for tourists.  Most of the shops and bars where closed and didn't open until w/c 8th April which is when we went home.

This was our first foray abroad and having read all of the reviews here I thought we would take a chance and see for ourselves.  I am happy to say that we were not disappointed.

Accommodation - Good sized rooms, all mod cons, fridge, microwave, even a bath for getting the sand off our daughter each day (she hates showers!).  Even the TV had BBC1 & BBC2 which although you don't sit in your room watching telly it is nice to catch up with the news for 5 mins and my daughter especially liked having CBeebies - I think she thought she was still in the UK!  Air Conditioning was nice and powerful - not one of those fans you get sometimes that are of no use whatsoever.

Food - I know some people have commented on the breakfast selection (no english bacon and sausage!?) but if the spanish came to the UK would they be offered their local delicacies - I think not.  Either we are easily pleased but we always found something to eat.  If I had one criticism it would be to suggest they could invest in a better toast machine as it took about 10 minutes per slice - but if thats the best I can do it can't be all bad.  Equally the dinner choice was OK - a bit eclectic - lovely succulent lamb alongside some strange vegetable combo, but once again, enough choice to keep most people satisfied, I would have thought.  We certainly never heard anyone complain.  The staff did seem very busy as other people have commented on but they were always very friendly and helpful.

Facilities - There was plenty going on as far as I could see and the entertainments staff worked really hard.  They didn't force people to take part in activities but made sure people were involved if they wanted to.  The kids on the complex seemed happy enough anyway.  The pool area was busy even though we went after the kids had gone back to school but we went to the beach every day so it was never an issue for us.  As for people putting towels on sunbeds - I have to confess it is the first time I have ever noticed it and I suspect the people who do it would use a traffic cone if they could bring one with them in their luggage.  Why they feel the need to do it I will never understand.  The evening entertainment was fairly regimented - mini disco followed by adult entertainment followed by bingo (in English and German!!) followed by some sort of tribute act/comedian/hypnotist.  The acts were of varying quality but strange how a couple of San Miguels sitting outside under the stars makes them sound better!  You can't really expect Robbie and Kylie for this money.

Resort - Admittedly the hotel is off the beaten track but transport is good - bus, taxi and boat so you can explore if you want to.  As a lot of people seem to do, we went into Alcudia Port one day but found it too big and sprawling and just a collection of shops and bars.  There are enough restaurants within a reasonable distance if you wanted to eat outside the hotel complex.  The beach could not be closer to the hotel, the sea was lovely and shallow and the warmest I have ever been into.  Our daughter was just happy to play in the sand and have a little paddle inbetween naps, ice creams, etc.  It was one of the main reasons we came and it was just the ticket.  I just wish the smokers amongst us would deposit their cigarette butts in the numerous bins dotted around the beach rather than in the sand to be incorporated into sandcastles.

Overall we were very happy with the hotel, room was fine, food was fine (by us), beach and sea were lovely and the complex was kept spotless by an army of cleaners despite the best efforts of a few people who were too bone idle to put their rubbish in the bin.  In fact we have booked to go again next year and are staying two weeks next time.

After reading some of the reports on the alcudia pins i considered canceling or changing my choice of accomodation. but on the whole the alcudia pins was great, friendly staff and near the beach that we wanted.

We had some minor gripes with things but that is to be expected when you have two small children and the grandparents in tow.

The beach was great and very clean and we spent most days there except a few.

our only complaint/disappointment on arrival we were informed about a welcome meeting by the tour company the next day, as this was our first family holiday abroad we decided to go as the kids wanted to join in the activities etc.

that morning we joined all the other families for the meeting, what followed could only be described as a "hard sell" directed directly at the children and ourselves. this included bieng harassed into booking a pirates show that according to the rep was "unmissable" and "great for kids" but in truth a disaster from start to finish and verry poor value for money as once you are there you are again bombarded with the merchandise marketing machine.

at the very least we expected som practical advice and information, there was none.

we booked other day trips from the reps as well, all expensive and all at the meeting.

after several days at the beach we met other families who were not so naieve as ourselves, they shopped around with local excursion companies and paid a lot less than we did.

on speaking to the rep about the difference in prices he informed me that this was for insurance purposes and that the other guests were not covered for insurance.   what a load of balderdash!

on the whole i was very disappointed in the tour operator approach, they sold us an over priced product.

my advice, shop around

Just returned from Alcudia Pins after 2 weeks stay.   No complaints about room extremely clean, cleaned every other day.  Beach beautiful, no seaweed whatsoever as mentioned on this site.   Kids Clubs with plenty to do for all ages.   Entertainer Reps absolutely brillant.   Shows at night time very good entertainment.  As for the reps in the hotel not much can be said about them as they are not willing or interested when something serious happens but on the other side, the reception desk is very helpful especially the english speaking spanish ones.  Underground restaurant/pub is a must with set menu at an excellent value of 9 euros and staff very friendly. 5 minutes walk away from hotel.   Plenty of buses but you will have to crowd onto whilst busy but good fun costing 1.20 euro into anywhere in Alcudia.  Last bus is 10.15pm.  

A bit out of the way but very nice.

When we arrived, we were put into 4 apartments, and although we had asked for ground floor becuase one of the group is disabled, we were put on the very top. We went to complain the next morning but decided to settle with the top floor because we had all already half unpacked. The rooms were nice and clean but we were disappointed that one person's "bed" was actually the couch. One of our apartments was in the end and had a lovely view of the beach, which was really good and close.

one othr apartment had a view of the stage and all the chairs and tables were everyone sat then, as well as the bar. We absolutely LOVED the entertainment it was top notch, brilliant, compared to others we have seen. There was first a mini disco for kids, and adults could take part too. there was an riverdance night, which was great because we are from Ireland and love irishdancing. On our last night there was a talent show for children and the children all enjoyed taking part. childrens clubs were good for the younger age groups but the older club wasnt as good, but they were usful as we had 9 children with us. 

there was 1 large pool and a great water slide and a children's pool. they had 1 returant which was a large buffet and the food was very good but just a short walk away was lots of lovely resturants and i would recommend many of them. There are some shops nearby and stalls. 

I would definetly recommend this resort to big families like us. we had a fab time and hope to go back soon!

we went to alcudia pins for the second time in aug 2005.
we were lucky enough to have a 2 bedroom apartment this time overlookin the pool and a sea view.
the apartment was clean lots of space and having air con is a god send.
its a lovely quiet area and the taxi's are not to expensive.
the beach couldnt be any closer,the sea is shallow and safe for the kids.
the pool was a little busy and noisy and yes if you do want a sunbed you do have to be prepared to get up very early.quite funny really.

we were self catering and there are plenty of bars and restaurants around.the underground is just up the road and good value,theres also a restaurant just to the sideof the hotel which is ok andthey do give you lovely warm bread and garlic butter while you waitfor your food.if you go into alcudia and you have kids try the peach pit,they keep the kids entertained with the likes of bob the builder and the food is very good value.

so if you like it lively,your hotel on the beach,clean apartments and complex then alcudia pins is for you.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

We came first to Alcudia Pins during the Whitsun Break in May 2005, we came only with our 11 year old son. Travelled from Manchester, left our house at 6.00pm Saturday evening arrived at Alcudia Pins reception at 6.00am Sunday morning. (Completely tired!!!!!)  Our room was overlooking the front of the hotel, only problem was coaches pulling up in the middle of the night.  Big enough for the three of us.  

We were half-board.  Staff were very helpful as we have dietary needs.  Manager went out of his way to show us what ingredients were in the meals, he even drew us pictures when we didn't understand what he was trying to show us.  Food wasn't too bad, plenty of it if you wanted (we dined at 6.15pm.  By the end of the week eating far too much!!  Quite quiet in May, managed to get sunbeds without any problems (although there wasn't any parasols then).  Entertainment, once you'd had a drink not bad.  The reps tried and worked very hard.  Room was clean, air conditioning a must.  Good to have self catering facilities, to keep and freeze drinks.

We came back again in August, (must have enjoyed it in May).  (Receptionist remembered us!!)  Booked our own transfer from the Airport, lovely minibus with Air Conditioning (took half the time).    Brought our older son with us 18, not a lot for him to do, although younger son joined in more with his big brother.  Pool was busy as you expect in August, (son was prepared to get up early some mornings to put towels on sunbeds, with PARASOLS excellent!!!)

Other days we went to the beach, quieter and cooler with a lovely breeze.  Lads went on the Banana Boat, we all went on the Pedalo, GREAT.  Booked our visit to Western Water Park with the Reception (much cheaper than the reps).  Well worth the visit.  Visited the market at Alcudia, both in May and August, bus was far busier in May.  Went from the Market down to Alcudia Bay by Horse and Carriage (15 euros), well worth it as it is about 2 miles to walk.  Hired bikes cycled to the Wildlife Reserve.  On the whole we had a relaxing holiday.  (Far cheaper to book direct, cost us less at the hotel for the 4 of us in August than booking with Airtours in May for the 3 of us.  Had a lovely time, but not sure we'd go back again,  it's excellent if you have little ones, reps are brilliant with them and the kiddies disco in the evening was good.  Some good shows in the evenings.  

On the whole staff were very good, both Reps (plenty of them) and Hotel Staff.

Good things.
Hotel great, rooms clean, air-conditioned and a view of the beach and the bay straight out of picture card. You could hear the surf all night. Food best I've had anywhere. But then I've eaten in some rubbishy places. But it was still great. 

I had been there before and although the hotel had improved in leaps and bounds the entertainment was now terrible. We found out the second week the entertainers were from Norway and Sweden. Not countries noted for having any sense of humour. Which they bent over backwards to prove everynight.

Well I guess we had some. On the coach, one gave us a welcome pack, and told us all to meet at 6.30 the next day for an introductions etc. Which was nicely written on the back of the envelope in case we forgot. Only without telling anybody they changed it to 10.30 in the morning, at another location. I only found out as passing thru reception I saw a pile of welcome packs, one having my name on it. Only other time I saw any was the last day. They sent a snotty letter to our rooms informing us we had to report to reception at 6.30pm sharp, with the completed questionnaire attached . Then we would be told when our departure time was. It was clear from the note the implication was no filled in form, no information. On the other hand other rep's put the pick up time on the notice board at least two day in advance for their people.

Downside.
To get a chair or anything round the pool you had to put your towel out between 3 to 4am. I kid you not, and at 4am it's like a January sale! The ratio of guest to chairs was possibly 10 to 1. We did it three times. First time we didn't know which side the sun came up, as we had arrived after sundown. So picked the side that was in the shade all day till 2pm. Second day was ok. Third time put the towels out came down at 8am for breakfast found all our good towels had been stolen, and our older towels thrown on the floor. As I was retrieving the towels a guy from one of the balconies said it was people coming back from the nightclubs early in the morning, they just nick the best and chuck the other around anywhere. Then they put their towels over seats to reserve them, but don't come down till about 2pm. This was very true as most of the seats were empty till after lunchtime everyday.
So although we paid for a hotel with a pool we spent all the time on the beach. The hotel for us had no pool. There was nowhere to sit near the pool and watch over your kids. Though there was room, but for some reason the hotel had placed tables and chairs all over what would have been an idea patio area. Which nobody could sit in due to the heat of the sun. As there was no shade, or canopies, and another hotel shortage.

The entertainment was strictly for children well under four, and went on till 11.30 at night. Nothing for adults at all. It's a bad Butlins at it's best. Though was funny watching two of them every night getting the bingo wrong. They were either to stupid, or didn't care. I suspected the latter. Considering the prizes were between £100 to £300 I'm surprised they weren't dragged off the stage.


Added extra's.
There was the 3" flying cockroach that landed on my back while we watched the 'entertainment'.  After that we shut the door from the balcony at night.

Then the beach. Lovely beach. You could sunbath all day. But big no, no. As there was a constant light breeze, just enough to not let you know how sunburnt you were getting, and with the sand in it, just enough to stop you taking a camera, or video on the beach, as the sand would ruin them up.  The sea had some sort of tree bark floating in it, so you came out covered in large pieces of sawdust. Sometimes the smell of sewage being dumped in the sea in the evening was gagging. But thankfully not evident in the day.

In the evening while we watched the entertainment, with the kids. Light aircraft would fly along the beach about fifteen feet the other side of the glass wall that separated the hotel from the beach. About twenty to thirty feet off the sand. One evening we saw one coming, the entertainer stopped talking as it was impossible to talk with an aircraft going over that low. As he went past his engine noise changed quite dramatically, so naturally about 300 people stopped and looked. He suddenly from about twenty feet dived down, we all expected a crash. Some lady screamed. Then another aircraft came along the other way was the same height, same flight path. He just missed him. If they had collided we would have been up to out necks in aircraft parts. The little white aircraft zoomed up behind him and turned to go the same way. We could see them going off in the distance the little white aircraft waggling his wings flashing all his lights. The he turned back and came over us again. But this time a little higher.

Would I recommend going there. NO. It's to far away from any other entertainment, unless you hire a car. But then you can't drink. The people in the shops are very pleasant. Trouble is contrary to what they say all the entertainment for adults and kids is in the south of the island. But that's over an hours drive in a car.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

We have Visited the Pins before and have just returned from our third fortnight there. 

We like it very much mainly for the water slide in the pool and the kids and adult entertainment programmes which are excellent. A word of warning though, dont book this hotel if you like being in a busy location as it is a taxi ride(8 euros) or a ride on a jam packed bus (1 euro 20 cents) in to Alcudia and a little less if you want to go the other way to can picafort. Remember all the fares soon add up making it an expensive holiday! Another thing I would like to point out is that older children would be very bored here as there is not much for them to do. Younger children however are well catered for and it is excellent for them. 

My main complaint about the pins this time was the dreadful standard of room cleaning. The rooms should have been cleaned every day I would of thought but one time they didnt come for four days and it was hot weather and so the beds really smelled (they had plastic sheets on)there wasnt even any soap in the bathroom which I would have expected every hotel to provide.Also our room was infested with ants! When the cleaner did decide to come she wouldnt arrive till late afternoon which is most inconvenient if your kids are trying to take a nap so they can stay up to watch the entertainment! 

Anyway enough of the bad points lets get down to the good ones. The food in the hotel is fine, the usual type of stuff you get in spanish hotels on the buffet and also there is a chef cooking and you can have freshly cooked chops chicken kebabs and steak etc. straight from his grill which was lovely and he does great pancakes on a morning for brekkie! 

The other plus at the Pins is the fantastic entertainment. The entertainment staff work so hard from morning till night from early morning aerobics and poolside games etc. right through to the excellent evening shows. The shows are brilliant especially the grease and Alcudia Pins high shows. The best of the lot is a fabulous singer and dancer called Jamie(female) she is a real undiscovered star! We told her she should go on X factor as she is far better than anything they have had on there! Also Annmarie is great too! The dancing was really excellent we loved all the perfomances, We also loved the hypnotist, what a laugh! The mini disco goes on for an hour unlike some that only last half the time and they really involve the little uns and get them all dancing. I promise you they will have you doing the cartoon hero dance before your holiday has ended!

Anyway I will shut up now and give someone else a chance!If you want a bucket and spade holiday for your under twelves you cant go far wrong with the pins even if you do have to put a bomb under those cleaners to get them moving!

Just returned from 1 week at the Pins, could not fault the hotel at all, took my mother who is not very mobile and the reception staff took one look at mum and said they would find us another room as the one we were allocated would not be suitable as there was quite a lot of steps, they found us another room on ground floor G block very quite, clean and plenty of space, ours was a 2 bedroom, 2nd bedroom was very small not much room around the beds but sufficient for kids, yes you do need to get up early for a sunbed, but the beach is lovely and there are plenty of beds 7 euros for 2 beds & umbrella, entertainment excellent they really work very hard to put on the shows, it is very much for family's with young kids, so much for them to do, it is a bit out of the way and not many restaurants to choose from unless you go into the main centre of Alcudia, but as my mum was with me and not very mobile we decided to stay put, 

the weather was lovely one terrible day of heavy rain and high winds, but you do get a lovely breeze from the sea if you get a bed up on the decking area, its nice and peaceful there as it does get quite noisy around the pool, the prices of drinks in the hotel I thought was quite reasonable compared to some hotels we have stayed in, the staff are very helpful and friendly and go out of there way to help you.  we had a great week and I shall definately return next year with my husband and children. 

One thing to remember ask not to be put in block H or I as these are near the Irish Pub and Disco also above restuarant and some people said the smell from the kitchens was quite off putting and the rooms very noisy.

Bit worried about Alcudia Pins after reading some reviews but needn't have been!

Complex and rooms cleaned daily, 1 bed apartment not large but adequate for needs, lovely huge balcony overlooking sea and entertainment area. A very large complex, bit like a miniture village with shops, pubs, restaurants, pizzerias, burger bars,childrens play area & bouncy castles, tennis & football/ basket ball courts, table tennis, games room, laundry, internet cafe, bikes for hire. Lovely pool but overcrowded and if you think you can claim a sunbed at 6 a.m. you've missed your chance! Revellers returning to hotel at 2-3 a.m. have already bagged them only to take up their places anytime after 2p.m. once they've slept off the exersions of the night before - totally selfish behaviour of fellow holiday makers but it's time Pins management did something about it! This would be my only complaint. 

But to compensate, beach glorious, sea warm and totally safe for kids, no sea weed as mentioned by other reviewers. Older child joined Escape club, met lots of kids her own age and enjoyed bouts of independence from parents for first time. Entertainment team very on the ball, learnt kids names quickly & made them feel special. Some good entertainment at night e.g. DRIFTERS!! How cool is that! Also hypnotist - never seen hubby cry laughing before!

Location is a bit isolated but is plenty of local transport, including boat that goes regularly from Pins to Alcudia Port. Food selection around complex is very limited - 'chips with everything' but this not unique to area, found this to be the case all over the island & you have to find places off the beaten track to sample best of Spanish / Majorcan cuisine.Re Trips- must do Pirates show. It's better than excellent!! Hidden Treasures on wooden train from Valldermossa - Soller worth it. Give Western water park a miss and certainly do not do boat trip from Pins to Formentor ( available on beach) Formentor might have once been beach visited by rich and famous, now though its a litter strewn mess with a 'Greasy Cafe'.

Pins has a lot to offer, lots of potential, just a few problems but then nowheres perfect - me and my husband are very fussy travellers but we liked it!

Major disappointment! After reading the brochure and some of last years reviews on H.U. we were looking forward to this holiday so much.
The 2 hour transfer didnt help much, but on arrival the hotel staff were friendly enough and checking in was painless and the restaurant was opened at 10pm so we could eat.The rooms are plenty big enough for three and have a fridge with a freezer compartment and a kettle etc.
Now the bad part.....where to start.....how about the restaurant and food. I feel heartily sorry for the waiting staff who are worked like dogs and just cant cope. Tables left covered in dishes and glasses while families stand waiting for a seat,the aforementioned staff flying round like the proverbial chickens, having to wait to order a drink, then wait for them to arrive, then, if you order wine, another ten mins for that to arrive. If the number of staff were doubled it would still not be enough.

The food was of a very poor standard at a supposed three star hotel with the same for breakfast every day ,bacon and egg,with the odd addition of an aneamic sausage,runny scrambled egg,and,one morning green beans with squares of ham in oil! For breakfast!!
Evening meal was of an average standard if you could get it!The buffet trays would stand empty for a good ten mins before being replenished and as for the "special chefs menu" we waited from 10 to 40 mins for food unless you were lucky enough to be in the vicinity as a fresh serving was produced(which wasnt often).
Next the sunbeds round the pool.Dont expect to get one if youre not up before six.And its not the germans!!!!!Go to the beach instead. A parasol and two sunbeds costs 7 euros a day and there is a nice cooling breeze off the sea, which is shallow enough for little uns for quite a way out.

Back to the rooms..... towels changed and beds made every third day..though after a good whinge to reception this
was cut down to every other day.Still not good enough for a three star.
Although the holiday overall was adequate, its not what you expect when you pay three star prices,you want your holiday to be the highlight of the summer and not to have so many things annoy you throughout.I know you cant please all of the people all of the time, but the Pins would be hard pushed to please anybody if they had ever stopped at any other half decent hotel.My advice is if you can get this holiday as a "cheapie" off the text or net it would be ok(just), but if you pay brochure prices go somewhere else(try a fiesta hotel,brilliant, or a global,just as good) for the same price,  and a 10 times better service.
Pins..get your act together!!!!

We have been been to the Pins for the last three years and have really enjoyed it.....but... this is the first year that it has become multinational and it has suffered as a result.

The entertainment, even down to Bingo is in three languages! takes ages and I love Spanish music and speech , but dont go to Marjorca to hear German!!!

The usual gripes with the Germans like not waiting in the queues and being particularly arrogant and ignorant also apply.  Even speaking with the hotel staff, (majorcan and Castillans) they are none too impressed with the new influx!

Unfortunately although we love the location of the hotel, right on an excellent beach which the kids love, The helpful staff and the rooms, It has put us off going back...which is a shame.

This is not a place for older teens or people without kids, you will not enjoy it believe me!  However for a young family it fits the bill perfectly.

We spend the first week on the beach (you can book the sunbeds for a week for 42 Euros) and stops anyone from going down early with their towels (if you know who I mean!) ;-)  this makes it very cheap as well.

The second week we hire a car from the hotel..far cheaper than reps We got a Fiat Punto 5 door with air con for 98 euros for 3 days  The reps were wanting 300 Euros!  We went to Marineland the nature park and around the isle. then back to the beach for the tan to be topped up before coming home.

If you dont mind sharing with the multinationals you WILL enjoy it....

Word of warning.. lots of plates are smashed by kids in the dining hall, be careful, our 7 year old was walking past when a 4 year old dropped her plate and a piece cut into his leg requiring 3 stitches and 95 Euros excess Insurance policy paid up front to Doctor on site...

They should only give the kids plastic plates, but dont so watch out.

lovely hotel with a fantastic position right on the beautiful beach. Very child friendly beach with water sports available if wanted. Although it is on the outskirts of Alcudia, it would be possible to spend the whole holiday within the complex as the hotel had everything on hand for the children.If you want to eat out go to the Underground Pub Great food and great staff and its only 5 minutes stroll from the hotel. The local buses are frequent and cheap, giving easy access to both Alcudia and Can picafort. Cheesy night time entertainment but sitting at night with a beer under the stars it is fine.
The staff are excellent and very helpful.

 alcudia pins...ha ha. More like Alcudia Bins.
we arrived at 3.00am to be greeted by a foul stench that seemed to appear for about an hour every night between the hours of midnight to around 3.30am.
The room was smelly, dirty and was only cleaned once during the whole week.It had air conditioning which kept the room at a bearable temperature but only just.

The pool looked very pleasent when it was empty but after 10.00am it was so crammed full of people it was a joke. Also this place took sunbed reserving to an all time low.From our 1st floor pool view balcony(which was nice) we witnessed people out with their towels every night from about 3.00am onwards..yes 3.00am and every sunbed was gone by 5.30am every morning.
The evening entertainment was awful to start with(Like Butlins redcoats on a bad night) and got worse as the week went on. The food was below par and to make matters worse the hotel was very remote with a £15.00 round trip cab journey to get you into town
The only saving grace for this place was the beauty of the location.A stunning bay with clear blue sea and a great beach.

I can definately recommend Alcudia, it's a great family destination with good restaurants and bars but as far as The Hotel Alcudia Pins is concerned...not recommended

Just returned from the Alcudia Pins.  Hotel itself is unbelievably clean, rooms are nice and pool area cannot be faulted.  If you are half board - the food is terrible and there are too many people for the staff to cope with, it is organised chaos.

The hotel is a bit far out but it is easy enough to get the bus.  The beach location is a big plus and there are plenty of beds.  Had a good holiday, but the food lets the place down.

Just returned from a week staying at the alcudia pins. Had a great week.

Hotel right on beach which is great as alot of the hotels there u had to cross busy road.Lovely swimming pool although very busy, no chance getting sunbed unless you get up in the early hours someone told us they get up at 6 which we thought was ridiculous.  So we headed for the beach there is a problem with sea weed though but u just accept IT in the end. The kids fished of the jetty, went on the banana boat (10E) WENT ON PARACHUTE ATTACHED TO SPEEDBOAT(35e). tHERE ARE VARIOUS BOAT TRIPS OFF THE JETTY TOO. 

WENT INTO ALCUDIA centre and can picfort on the bus. Be warned everyone goes to these places in the morning and heads back at lunch time and the buses get so full they have u standing on the exit steps and get bashed every time the door opens there dosen't seem to be a limit to how many people r on the bus. We went on a half board basis the food was ok but quite long queues, there are 2 sittings we were on the later one of 8.00 which worked out great for us.  They do car hire from the hotel which is quite cheap. we hired a polo quite new one for the day for 40e which included insurance we went to arenal to the water park which was good it was nice to hire the car to get about we went back out in the evening too.

I think we will return to Alcudia pins.

We were a bit apprensive about Alcudia Pins as we only booked at the last minute and then checked out this website which had different reviews, but luckily we had a great holiday week.

We were sc and had a 2 bed apart in block d, which we found to be very good. The only complaint we had was the pool area wasn't large enough for the amount of people in the complex, which was very busy. Also be careful around the pool area with children as it is so crowded you cannot always see where they are and there is a lifeguard but they are not always there.

Everywhere was very clean and our apartment, although it said in the details that it would be cleaned every other day, was cleaned nearly every day. You are out of main Alcudia town where we had previously stayed but this didn't bother us as you could take a taxi into town if you wanted, which we didn't do.The food at the pins burger bar on the complex was basic but tasted great although I can't say the same for the buffet restaurant which was the only choice for people who were half board.

On our last night we decided to try the buffet restaurant but were bitterly dissapointed, the selection for the children was very basic only having chips, pasta in tomato sauce, ham in breadcrumbs and CARROTS!! Also (we were in the 8.00/8.15 sitting) most of the food was cleared away about ten minutes after we arrived, leaving us to hurry and grab a dessert before they were all cleared away.

All in all, although we only there for a week, we had a great holiday at the Pins and would go back again, the beach being a big attraction for us as you are straight off the complex onto the beach which is clean and safe.

Went to the Alcudia Pins for a week early July. 

Overall a good family holiday and an ideal place to play with your kids for a week in the pool and on the doorstep beach which was very clean. Yes, Sea was full of sea weed which put my children off going in but beach was excellant. Not enough to do here for two weeks. Location was a ten minute taxi ride from the centre of Alcudia and a five minute ride from Picafort. Alcudia was very busy but had a nice harbour with nice resturants. Taxi was 8 euros plus tip but worth it as the buses were overcrowded and infrequent, however they did stop on the mainroad outside the Hotel which was convenient.

Picafort was a smaller Alcudia, again nice looking beach and many resturants

There are approx 5/6 resturants outside the hotel and as we were self catering tried a few of them. Best was the steak house, worst was the resturant at the bottom of the road when turning right out of the hotel ( further on from the steak house) , cant remember the name. Do not eat here. We had to wait for an hour for the food which was brought out for each person at different times ( one every 10) minutes and my 3 year olds chicken nuggets were raw inside. they were sent back and were clearly micowaved when returned !! my fried squid rings were dripping in oil and was all you could taste.

The food overall in the resturants outside was dissapointing. We did hear through friends that the hotel food was ok but nothing exciting. the resturant was very busy and had to queue.

Pizza place in the hotel was very good though

Entertainment i thought was good, i have seen a lot worse but on occasions i have seen a lot better. However overall everyone tried very hard and when acts were brought in from outside ( tribute to riverdance etc etc) these were good quality.

Rooms were ok and just big enough. cleaning was every other day and were lightly cleaned but we had to prompt cleaners to empty bins a few times but were very apologetic.

Pool was clean and did not hear of any repeated illness because of it.

Had to get up no later than 7 to get a Sunbed with umbrella.  not enough umbrellas to go around and with young kids who need shade during the day this was totally unacceptable. We had buggy umbrella shades which were needed on the days we were unable to get an umbrella. This really needs to be addressed

reps were ok and did everything you asked them to do

Overall an acceptable family holiday but could have been better

Hotel next door, german i think, 4 star, was an example of what the Alcudia pins could be. Alcudia pins just about earned its 3+ rating

We stayed at the Alcudia Pins for a week, (half board) and was very happy. 

The hotel is very big and caters for everything. Our room was very nice and clean, with a big balcony. The room had self catering facitiles which we thought was really good cause we were half board. So we were able to cook our own lunch and keep our drinks and sun cream cold. The staff are very friendly and hard working. The pool and surroundings were very nice, but you need to get down to the pool VERY early to get a sun bed. We was unable to get some all week, but we werent that bothered cause there is a lush beach just steps away. It costs 7 euros for 2 beds and a umbrella, which we thought was very cheap. (Have been charged 12 euros in the past).

The hotel has good entertainment at night and there is alot of activities for the kids.
We went to the (half board) restaurant a few times but was'nt that impressed. The food was basic and cold at times. The staff were quick to clear the tables but not so setting them up and we had keep asking for culterly etc.
It was a good job the town had good restaurants and take away places like
Pizza Hut, KFC and Burger King.
This hotel is not in Alcudia, but you can get a bus just outside the hotel to the port and town of Alcudia costing just over a one euro. It runs every 15 minutes and it gets very crowded. It also seems that the British are the only people who know the meaning of queuing.

Over all we thought this was a good hotel for families and couples to stay at, and we will return in the future but as self catering guests.

We booked this on the advice of our usual travel agent who assured us that it would be brilliant for the kids(14,14+11).

This is not for teengers, it is superb for families with younger children.
The pool is very busy and to get sun loungers you have to be out with your towels at six in the morning.
The beach is fantastic when the seaweed is not there and very warm.

There is a distinct lack of variety in the food that is available both in the Pins and the restauraunts around it, although the 'Underground Bar' has to be reccomended for qaulity and service.
The night time "adult entertainment" would have even Simon Cowell running for his ear plugs as the so called entertainers crucified just about every song they sang, and then to follow up with they join you in the Irish bar and do "karaoke". Not reccomended.

On checkout we left our room and put our cases in the luggage room, the smell down here is just like that of a blocked drain, the so called shower facilities had cold water only at the time and more flies than you could cope with, so much so that my wife and kids could not bear to be in there.

On the whole this was not a bad holiday but there were a lot of things that were not right and hence took away the whole holiday feeling.

The staff and reps cannot be faulted for effort, if there is a problem and they can fix it, they will. We met loads of people that loved the Pins, unfortunatly it wasn't for us.

This is my first time at The Pins and had a nice relaxing break.
The Pins is situated right on a lovely beach which is cleaned evey night.The sea was sometimes a bit rough which added to most peoples enjoyment trying to ride the waves on various inflatables.
Regarding the seaweed mentioned in an earlier review I am glad to say that it is now relenting and most of it is cleaned away at evening.

The apartments are on the small size but have everything you need and cleaned every other day.
The pool area was enclosed by a mass of sunbeds and if you want one be early!
We went on a half board basis the food was plentiful and various,some nights it became a bit hectic,bit of advice get you sweet asap as the tend to go very quick.

The location of The Pins is in a quite area and you need to travel on the "cattle bus"to get to the port were more shops and a nice harbour are based.Another alternative is to take the sea bus from the jetty on the beach 5 euros and walk back if you are feeling energetic.

Some of the entertainment was very good in the hotel with dedicated people providing it ,this stops around 12.00.
Two things to watch out for whilst on site are the electric cars filled with children who have no sense of direction and crash into anything that gets in the way,secondly I feel I must warn you about the gangs of 8-12 year olds who run round the hotel rampaging until their parents decide that its time for bed,I had to rescue my 4 year old twice from the bouncy castle being bullied by these kids who are twice his age whilst the parents are sitting watching shows plying themselves with drink.

The excursions which the reps try to sell you are overpriced, take a stroll towards Alcudia bay and you will come across some car hire shops who do excursions as well.
Wild west water world is a must 18 euros for adults and 12 euros for children a great day out.

We stayed at the Pins last year and had such a great time we decided to return this year. The facilities are great, the kids find loads to do. The pool is idea as there are lots of shallow bits, in fact i can walk the length of the pool, so no part is really deep. The food isn't that great in fact it's bad and we were going to go s/c this year but when we priced it up it was only £200 more for the four of us for two weeks to go h/b, so we done this as there is only one restaurant out the front. The rest you have to go into town and that will cost you 1 euro each on the bus before you've even started. So you just make do h/b.

This is the first year the hotel isn't exclusivly airtours so now it is multi-national. The internationl reps are great in the day but their shows in the evening are terrible! Our reps shows are as good as ever and they put on a really professional act singing live etc - unlike the others that mime!

The hotel is very clean and the rooms cleaned every other day, but be warned the cleaners are light fingered! a few people had things go missing from rooms including myself.

All in all we did have a good holiday, the reps will bend over backwards to make sure you have a good time it's just a shame they have introduced the other nationalities as everything has to be said in various different laguages and they loose the buzz by the time they've finished.
Sadly I doubt if we will return again

I have just returned from a two week holiday at the Alcudia Pins with my son and nephew.  We did not arrive at the hotel until 11.45pm and as we had booked half board, I thought we would not eat until breakfast the following day.  However, upon checking in at reception (all very friendly and speak good english) we were told to put our cases in our room and go straightaway to the restaurant as they had kept it open for us (there were about 10 of us in total that arrived on the same coach).  There was obviously not the same choice of food as there is for the evening meal but there was certainly enough to choose from and at that time of night, you were just grateful for something to eat and drink.  The same thing happened on the day we left, which was at 4am, they had breakfast ready for us before we had to get the coach to the airport.  This was totally unexpected but greatly appreciated.

The apartment itself was quite small, we were in a one bedroomed apartment, but it was adequate for the three of us.  I had the bed in the lounge which was actually very comfortable and the boys said their beds were comfortable too.  The maid came in every day and emptied the bin in the bathroom and kitchen and every other day changed the towels and made the beds.  The bedding was changed about 5 times in the two weeks that we were there.  The apartment was well stocked with crockery and cutlery and the fridge was a godsend for keeping the sangria cold!

We were allocated a 6.15pm sitting for evening meal and on the first day arrived at the restaurant at 6.15pm to find an enormous queue.  However this did not take long to disperse once the doors opened but each day after, we went for tea about 6.30pm and never had a problem with queues.  The food was excellent, plenty of choice, always two or three meats available, fish, pasta, salads, all sorts of vegetables.  There is always a soup if you wish and the deserts were gorgeous.  My son is quite a fussy eater and every day he managed to get a good plateful of food.  The tables are cleared very quickly by waiters and waitresses who are absolutely lovely and who adore all the children, even the naughty ones!  They really make you feel special and nothing is too much trouble for them.  Breakfast is from 8am to 10.30am so a time to suit everyone.  Here again, there was an excellent choice of food, from all types of cereal to loads of hot food if you wanted a cooked breakfast.  They even have three bottles of sparkling wine open if you wish to have a bucks fizz with your breakfast.  I only discovered this three days before we left so didn't have very many of them.

We found the pool very cold and even the kids were saying how cold it was.  Several hardy people braved it but we spent most of the time at the beach.  Unfortunately, the two weeks we were there, the sea was really rough which was very disappointing for me as I love swimming and there was just no way you could swim without drowning!  The boys enjoyed jumping over the waves and had great fun on their inflatables.  Apparantly the sea isn't always like this so I think we were just unlucky.

The entertainment team are brilliant and every nights entertainment was really good.  The entertainment stopped just before midnight each night so didn't go on too long.  However, we were in Block H which was right next door to another hotel whose entertainment was really loud and did go on well into the early hours of the morning.  The apartments are not double glazed to noise does travel a lot.  We also had the main Alcudia road running past our apartment which again was quite noisy.  You did get used to it eventually but beware if you are given a room in Block H.

There was not really much to do in the area around the hotel but we did get the bus into Pt. Alcudia one day and Alcudia market another day which was worthwhile seeing.  Also go to the Caves of Drach if you get chance.  We went on organised trip which was excellent value for money as we visited several other places as well such as the Pearl Factory and Porto Christo which is a lovely area.

We enjoyed our time at the "Pins" but I don't think I would go back, mainly due to the state of the sea but don't let this put you off staying at the "Pins".  

All in all we had a great time and everybody was really friendly.

Booked via Airtours cancellations, very good price and I must say the flight with First Choice from Stansted was excellent, on time and the transfer to the resort was very good and very quick, not as some people had said, maybe we were just lucky. 

The Pins is huge and if you have children under 12 then it is 4 star in every way.  Totally geared up for families and everything (and I mean everything) is on hand, could'nt fault it for facilities but for those of us who did'nt have little ones, Don't Go There.  The location is remote but the local buses stop right outside, are very cheap and run every 15 mins.  Get a timetable from reception.  We did plan to hire a car, but did'nt need to as we visited most of the towns in the north of majorca by bus. 

Eating out was a problem as it meant travelling on the bus to the restaurant and a taxi home (very expensive)and although there were a handful of restaurants within walking distance of the Pins, their menu's were very limited and bland.  Being right on the beach was a real bonus (thats why we chose the complex) and the sand is clean and dry, the sea is warm (even in May) as it is very shallow but - and there is one, in May and possibly beyond, they have a problem with sea-weed and there are mountains of it along the shoreline and you can't walk on it as in some places you would sink up to your waist - DO NOT let little ones anywhere near it incase they disappear beneath it.  The local resort owners should be getting onto the council to sort this problem out, hopefully by now they should have cleared quite alot of it.  

If you like walking, then the location of the Pins is quite good.  Set in the middle of a 9 mile bay, we set out early each morning for a brisk walk along the shore line into either Alcudia new town or Cala N'Picafort.  Both worth a visit.  But if you want good restaurants, good beaches, a nice prom then Port Pollenca is the place to stay. 

All in all we got very good value for money and used our time to find towns that we would definately go back to.  We would definately re-visit majorca and with First Choice but unless we took our grandchildren we would not return to the Pins.

Alcudia Pins is not really in Alcudia. It is quite remote with half a dozen restaurants/bars easily walkable, and enough souvenir shops to get your presents to take home. The hotel is actually closer to C'an Picafort, a 5 min bus ride away. Bus to Alcudia takes about 15 mins. Buses were easy to use and cheap - 1 euro ( no charge for under 5's). 

We hired a car for 5 days from reception which were very competitive. The Direct holidays rep was non existent, but the Airtours entertainment team tried their best with daytime and evening entertainment. Pool is great, if a little chilly when you first get in. The sea is warmer and as you are on the beach it is a nice alternative. If teh entertainment is inside the room is smoly and cramped even in May, but if it's outside it's fine. There are no kids clubs with Direct hols, only with Airtours, but our kids made friends and were easily entertained. Rooms were fine, and adequate - microwaves and kettles are handy and it was all very clean. I would suggest trying to get a pool view, but not too near the entertainment as it goes on until 12 - too late for most toddlers. Our room in G block was too close to the hotel next doors kitchen and was too noisy. 

All in all it was a good holiday and good value for money, although Majorca not as cheap as it once was (2 euros 65 cents for a pint was as dear as at home)!!!! Have fun - we did!!!!

We were bombarderd with holiday reps as soon as we arrived. We were the first tourists of the season
and boy were they glad to see us. Wish our tour operator had warned us of this fact, we would never haved booked. 

Accommadation was 100%,the supermarket was being stocked as we arrived but we were able to buy the essentials. No where was open for meals, there were a few places around but were closed. Did not fancy the food on the complex. The buses ran o.k during the day but they ceased at 7.00pm in the evening. Main town Alcudia 3 Klm away. the weather although dry was not good. 

Being so far away from everything meant that we had to hire a car. We went into Aludia and we hired a car from Van Rell fabulous people would recommend them to anyone reasonable rates and great service (our life savers.)Now we could go where we liked and eat in as many different restaurants on the island.The pollen count was quite high at the time and I became ill while away, there was a doctor on site which was very good. I had never had any problems back home so was surprised to find that it was the pollen causing me problems, it meant that I had to have injections every day but they were very good in fact they were wonderful to me ,nice to know that if you need medical help in an emergency that there is someone on site to help.

The complex is very good for families and the beach is so close,but at that time it was not very clean. If you want to get out and about it really is a long way out and to rely on public transport well (cattle buses) is not my idea of getting out and about.I dread to think what it is like in high season, we were here for 10 days and on the last day which was a Sunday we had to return the car at lunch time, we had to wait ages for a bus from main Alcudia back to the Pinns and it was packed with people, we were standing on the bus steps, my 6yr old grandson was standing in with the driver, phew never again. It is a shame as Majorca is a lovely place but should not really be visited out of season. I would proberly go back but would want accommodtion  in a more central position. 

The staff at the Pinns were excellent The hotels reps were good all but one, that knew nothing, every time you wanted infomation she had to refer you to someone else, think she was there for a holiday. To sum up Alcudia Pinns is a place you go to when you don`t want to do anything other than sun bathe, swim, eat and drink but only in season.

Just returned from 1 week in Majorca, stayed at the Alcudia Pins, Alcudia, and would definately return.
We stayed in a one bedroom apartment but half board. The apartment was quite small but very clean, there was only my husband and myself so it was quite adequate for us, but it may be a bit small for 4 adults. The domestics came in every other day.

The food was excellent, with a different selection for each meal. So even if , like my husband you only like plain 'English' food there was always something you could find to eat. The staff were very friendly. The 'Pins' was on the outer edges of Alcudia but there are restaurants and shops nearby where you can eat if you are self-catering. Unfortunately if you go 'out of season' as we, did not many of them are open, they were just begining to open up as we were leaving, so if you go out off season you would be best to go half-board. You can book self-catering and pay to go into the restaurant as you want but it can work out very expensive if you do it this way. The  season doesn't really start until 1st May.

It costs 10 Eur in a taxi to Pt Alcudia, but there is an excellent bus service and from the stop right out front of the 'Pins' you can get to all of the main resorts, 'though if you want to get to Magalluf or Palm Nova you would have to go to Palma and then change buses.

It cost 1.20 Eur into Pt Alcudia which is the newer part with lots of restaurants, shops etc.and 1.35 Eur to Alcudia which is the old town not so much there but a decent market on Sundays and Tuesdays.
If your into markets go to Inca on Thursday morning (all the markets end at lunch time), you can get there on the bus, and its worth the ride as it is a big Street market. Inca is also the heart of Majorcas leather industy and there are large factory shops for you to visit.

If you go into Pt Alcudi you really must try 'Our Plaice', really excellent food and good prices, as good as any, and better than, most Fish & Chips i've had.

First of all I would have given this hotel only 3*** It is the first hotel that I have stayed at that does not put soap in the rooms, I have had better at a 2**.It is to far from the town of alcudia so where the 20 min walk to town comes from I don't know as told to me by a rep! The food is good as we had half board. The entertainment area is to small for the hotel and to smokey. The entertainment staff are good french bowles and tennis etc.Staff good and understanding maintainence efficient and promt. 

We went in beginning of April still a bit cold and windy but go to alcudia town it is more sheltered and less windy.I know it was the beginning of the season and there was not a lot open but I would not go there again.

We arived on sat april 9th to sunny skies. This is one of the few sunny days we experienced... perhaps 2 in total if you scrape them all together!!

The transfer time was about an hour so was shorter than expected.
Despite all the bad press about this complex i woild have to say this now all sems behind them. The pool area is very clean and well maintained.The only rubbish around is left by lazy families who have taught their children no respect for their surroundings. Unfortunately there seem to be plenty of those.

The apartment we had was possibly one of the quieter ones.. some are very noisy with noise going on well into the night..
if you like agadoo youll love it!!

The beach is right on the back of the complex and is lovely.. until the tide goes out and you are left with an awful black sticky substance on the tide line.. do not step into it, you will sink. This problem is curently being rectified but this does involve diggers and tracters being on the beach much of the time so the noise level is high.

The entertainment is very amateur and the resort is mainly run by airtours. When we were there the airtours kids clubs were up and running but direct hols had nothing.
The childrens playground is in need of repairs... watch your kids on it.. if the monkey bars are still broken...COMPLAIN!!!

The apartment are nice..cleaning could be better.. lots of dust under the bed.

The complex is VERY remote... there really is nothing nearby.. and what there was was shut while we were there. Unless you want to walk 1  and a half hours to the nearest town be prepared to use buses.

On a positive note... the food is good in the restaurent and the staff are very friendly.

if you get good weather you'll have a great time...oh and the pool is FREEZING!!!!

1 bed apartment very small. Bedroom fitted with two single beds pushed together, no room for much else. We felt very cramped. Standard of cleaning was excellent and the local staff were lovely. 

The resort is like Butlins abroad but for a restful holiday with two young children this suited us. The kids were well catered for and if they are happy we are happy. Not the sort of holiday if you want to experience the local culture but we had a great time. If you want a cultural experience go somewhere else. If like us you want a relaxing family holiday at the beach then this is a great option.

We booked this on a Sundeal with Airtours about 4 weeks before departure (and not at a discounted price). Our son away on a school trip we thought that booking on a AAAA HB holiday we'd be "safe" enough as a couple in our 40's with no kids. Hoping to avoid the excesses of Magalluf we instead got Alcudia Pins or as it really should be known "toddlers are Us" From the moment we got on the plane in Glasgow to leaving the hotel there was always in the background the noise of someone's little cherub screaming. We exaggerate not.
Alcudia Pins as an (apart)hotel is not really that bad - if you have kids it's probably a good place to go as there seems to be enough for them to do.

It's a bit remote and Alcudia is about half an hour's uncomfortable (but cheap) bus trip away. At the Greeting Meeting the reps announced that C'an Picafort the resort in the other direction was mostly German. It's actually fairer to say that it's cosmopolitan - a five minute bus ride away and not the uncomfortable journey to Alcudia. Most people from the hotel went to Alcudia. We went to C'an Picafort mostly and it's a much nicer place.

If you have no kids do not go to the Reps' Greeting Meeting - with all the "greeting bairns" that were there the day we went, we were in danger of losing the will to live right at the start of our holiday. Chinese drip torture is nothing by comparison. Really.

The rooms were fine and kept clean by the maid. Breakfast in the restaurant was of a good standard but the evening meal was awful - bland food that leaves you unfulfilled. We ate out most nights despite paying for HB. The entertainers were enthusiastic but effort isn't necessarily quality. A bit cheesy and reminiscent of school shows to be honest.

The staff in the hotel did seem to have a pleasant and customer friendly attitude. The beach is right next to the complex and it is clean and at 7 euros per day for 2 sunbeds and a parasol is a cheap way to escape the claustrophobia of the pool area.

Would we go back? Without children - never, not ever, not in our lifetime. Ever. If you have kids - particularly of the midget variety this could be the place to go because it seems geared up for them. If you are like us - 40's couple no kids (on this holiday anyway) don't book a Sundeal with Airtours and expect them to apply a bit of thought to how they will allocate you on arrival!

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

this is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. 
although the hotel says it has a "disco" facilities are room was above these and we could not sleep at night for the shaking of the bed coming from the vibraions off the so called "entertainers!" 

pool:
this was utterly discusting and foul, mt youngst son who is 8 years old was swimming in this "sweat shop" pool when he noticed several poos floating on the surface. later that week he caught  infertigo.

rooms: these were really small and the "balcony" would'nt even hold guinea pig without it toppling through the loose bars. also, my daughter who is 10 years old suffers from croup. none of the rooms hae air conditioning or fans. so, when she had an attack in the middle of the night and could'nt breathe the only thing which i could do to relieve her was put a clothes maden laden with wret clothes in the cramped bathroom were she remained for almost an hour.
the next day when i told the reps about the experience and asked for a single fan they refused saying there were none even though they had given one to the people next door. after much persistance i eventually got a hand held one.

food: as my son was eating his egg i noticed to my disgust a curly black hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for the rest of the two weeks we ate out increasing our cost of staying.  

surroundings: i could not even see the other side of the complex for the amount of people. unless you were an early riser and get up at 6am!!!!!! every morning you would not get a sunbed and had to stand for the rest of the day.

sea: this was the only nice thing about the holiday apart from it had more seaweed then a chinese banquet.

this was the worst holiday i have ever been on. i would not even give alcudia pins a 1*! the hotel was recommened to us by a builder who obviously had no standards! he made it sound so good we had even booked to go back next year. NOT ANY MORE! 
if your thinkingof going I wouldnt recommend it.

it took us 2hrs 20 mins from the airport.

the alcudia pins is an ideal place if you like pontins/butlins style holidays,598 apartments,so you can imigine how many children are there,unless you were up before 7-30am you can never get a sun bed. 

we were half board you'd think that some people had never been fed before, they were lined up like soldiers ages before the resturant opened, we only stayed for a week (that was enough).

our room was cleaned the day before we came home for the 1st time, our sheets changed once that was on the 4th day, that was because they were too busy cleaning the reception to worry about us holidays makers, we got the sea bus twice into alcudia that is a lovely trip,the beach is very clean (and quiet compared to the pool area)if you like walking about theres not much of that to do there,we love promenardes to walk round of a night, we could'nt there.

theres a nice cafe/bar/resturant 5 mins walk called the underground great menu's for families and very friendly,also the steak house is ok but menu was very limited.alcudia pins was not for us but there was many people there who loved it,direct holidays let us down on our orginal booking(we booked 7 months earlier) 24 hours before our flight, thats why we were at the alcudia pins, its not wot we like,you might love it,beware try not to have room H117 its opersite the hotel next door staff and kitchen entrance,happy holidays.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

We booked a late deal allocation on arrival and ended up at Alcudia Pins.  Its away from the main town and a bus runs a regular service from outside the hotel.  Wer tended to take the bus then get a taxi back in the evening.
The hotel itself was very family oriented and is situated on the beach.  In fact we could have jumped off our balcony onto the beach.

Overall we had a very good holiday and would recommend this for families with children rather than couples.

What a wicked holiday!!
This was by far the best holiday i have ever been on.
The flight was good not too long but long enough and the meals were decent.

We arrived at Alcudia Pins to be greeted by the very helpful receptionist who spoke excellent English (better than us!). We checked in an went up to our apartment.

When we got there we discovered that the apartment was HUGE! There was two sets of french doors leading to the balcony (which had a sea view), two bedrooms, a sofa bed, a big kitchen with lots of cooking space, a big bathroom complete with power shower and satellite TV.

The facilites in the complex were excellent. There was an a la carte restaurant, pizzeria, burger bar and a german bar right on the corner of the complex. There was a huge swimming pool complete with water slide, internet access, supermarket (although expensive to ones outside the complex, however there is another 15mins to the right of the complex), there was also a spin disco open from 10 till 4am and a beach right on the doorstep.

There was lots of things to do in Alcudia itself and the nearby towns of C'an Picafort and Peurto Pollensa were easy to reach on bus not costing more than 2 euros per person.

KFC and Pizza Hut are nearby if you dont like foreign food and there are plenty of Steak Houses which do beautiful meals.

There was also the nightclub Disco Menta this was quite a good night out and not too expensive.

We made loads of friends on this holiday and had a great time! Hello to Dave, Kim, Chris, Ryan, Peter, Jack, Jade, Claire and anyone else who stayed between the 24th-31st of October 2004.

I recommend this hotel to people of all ages enjoy your hols!

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

Just back from a week in this hotel and it was BRILLIANT!!! As I am a teenager looking for fun and sun and usually take a pal I was not looking forward to this hliday.  However I had a great, relaxing time. The reception is really modern with glass floors at the entrance with a kind of pond underneath it! The rooms were really modern although the beds could have been more comfy and although it was supposed to sleep 3 people the bedroom only had two single beds and the sofa in the livingroom was supposed to sleep an adult!!  There were plenty of sunbeds and there were plenty of places to put them!!

The beach was right next to the hotel and it was really beautiful! you could walk right along it and end up in the resort centre!! The bus to the centre was about e1,30 each way which wasnt bad. The market in alcudia is quite good and there is also an inca market on a Wednesday which we heard was quite good but it is an hour bus journey to inca market!! too long for us!!

The food was o.k. some nights there wasn't much choice but they had a kids section too which was quite good!! Theyre not too quick at cleaning up your table though so the plates soon pile up!! they also ran out of bowls alot and didnt replace them very quickly so some nights had to have icecream on a plate!! Same with cups for coffee at breakfast!! had to wait a while to get a cup!! There was also a burger bar and a pizzeria which were both great.

The entertainment was quite good on some nights though it was quite loud therefore quite hard to hear.  There were a few hotels nearby however that had really good entertainment e.g. the Playa Gardens (to the right of the reception) and the Iberostar hotels (to the left of the reception - german though!).  On the last night of our holiday the entertainment was FANTASTIC!!!! had everyone singing to all the old songs!!! They were called The Platters and if they are on while you are there then dont miss it!!!

They were not too strict on the 12 o'clock checkout of your room which was quite a plus as there are no seats in the reception!

All in all we had a great holiday and I would definately go back to this hotel again!

Went to Alcudia Pins on a last minute deal, with an open mind after reading various reviews on this site, The accomodation was clean, well enough stocked for self catering, fridge, toaster, microwave & 2 ring cooker.Staff were pleasant, evening entertainment was cheesy but amusing.  Lovely beach but again renting sunbeds every day can be expensive. Buses to Alcudia are regular but dont always stick to the timetables.
To visit Palma you have to go to alcudia first, then get a bus to Palma,always buy a return ticket, (gives you priority on the bus back).

Plenty places to eat in Porto Alcudia. If you like chinese food try Casa Del Dragon, its cheaper & nicer than its neighbour. Cheers serves good british  food at reasonable prices. Blau Blue shop  in Can'picafort is worth a look for perfumes, booze & gifts.

Weather was good for October, only one rainy afternoon in the week.
We flew with Futura Airline, after paying the standard price for airline meals we were given a pack of 2 sandwiches each & asked to pay £1.50 for a cup of coffee, You have been warned !!!,

Overall nice holiday but a week in the resort was long enough.

TRANSFER;
We arrived in Majorca after travelling by Spanair. We were greeted at the Airport on arrival by a Direct Holidays rep that pointed us in the direction of a lovely air-conditioned coach. The coach had a Direct Holidays rep on board who gave an excellent guided tour as we travelled up into Alcudia which took approx. 1 hour. We did have drops at several other hotels which made the transfer nearly 2 hours but not a problem for us. ( We were the last to be dropped-off)

ROOM;
The Alcudia Pins Hotel Reception was very nice with lovely little feature waterfalls outside with beautiful fish. The male hotel receptionist checked us in quickly and efficiently knowing we only a had a few minutes to catch the evening meal!
The room/apartment was a fair size with modern furniture and decor,air conditioning, kitchenette with cooker hob and well equipped with pots, pans, cutlery and crockery etc, fridge, toaster and kettle. There was a small 'broom cupboard' with safety deposit box, nicely tiled bathroom - although there was no soap or facecloths so you are advised to take your own! Also the bath was extremely small so larger people beware (or have a shower instead!)There were twin beds and a wardrobe (Take some spare coat hangers as there were only about five)and two sets of patio doors leading onto a large balcony with clothes drier and plastic table and chairs. The maids visited every other day to change the towels and bedding. The general cleanliness of the rooms was good and around the hotel was excellent. There were plenty of rubbish bins around and the pool area and outside floor areas were scrubbed down every morning.

There were plenty of free sunbeds around the pool area which you could reserve with a towel if you wanted after 8am. We went out of season so there were always plenty of beds but obviously this may be different in the peak of the summer! The hotel is set on the lovely Alcudia beach, but beware of using the sunbeds on the beach - these are not free and can set you back 7 euros a day!

FACILITIES;
The facilities of the hotel complex are very good. We went half board but you can have a self catering option. There is a pizza place, burger and sandwich/salad bar, lounge bar, pool bar, german beer garden with BBQ-style meals, A la Carte restaurant with terrace overlooking the sea and ice cream kiosks on site. Plenty of food options.Outside the hotel was a couple of bars and a steak house. If you want to venture further afield there are plenty of bars, restaurants and gift shops a short taxi/ bus ride into Las Gaviotas and can Picafort. There are even burger king and pizza hut!

There is also the buffet restaurant for half-boarders.If you wish to cook your own meals there was a well equipped supermarket on site selling English branded goods. Other facilities on site were kids flume into the pool,(clean!) toilets,nightclub (spin disco), gift shops,newsagent (with english papers!) games room, launderette, kids club, tennis and volleyball, playground, cash machine...plenty to keep all ages amused..

HALF BOARD FOOD;
The buffet restaurant operates in the evening for two sittings. We think it is because the restaurant is too small to cater for everyone at once and got very busy. Beware you have to queue for meals!The first sitting was at 6.15pm and the second at 8pm. You are allocated your sitting on arrival. It was mainly parents and small kiddies on the first sitting as the evening entertainment for kids starts quite early. The quality of the breakfasts were good - full English, fruit, cereals, continental and juices, tea (PG!) and coffee on offer. I wasn't that keen on the evening buffet though!(But I am a fussy eater!) It was well presented but not a lot of variety. There was always salads and chips. Sometimes a pasta dishes.There was always some kind of meat in sauce but I couldn't tell you what that was! There was always a soup which was quite nice. The desserts are what you would expect in Spain - Jelly, cake of some sort, tinned fruit, profiteroles, instant whip and yogurt. There were small tubs of ice cream on the kids buffet. The kids buffet only had 5 types of food on it so not a huge variety! There were waiters on hand to take your drinks orders at your allocated table. The buffet restaurant was the only thing that disappointed us about the holiday but we didn't go hungry! On the last day we left early in the morning so was too early for breakfast, but the hotel left us a little packed breakfast in our room which was nice. If you are self catering you can buy vouchers to eat in the buffet restaurant - the more you buy you get a discount.

ENTERTAINMENT;
Evening entertainment was provided by Airtours Reps. They did daily kiddies disco's, cash prize bingo and 'open the box' and then a show. Some nights there would be a live act.The entertainment team were extremely hard working ( Clair, Rena, Janet, Marie,Pippa, Mike etc) and enthusiastic. They did other activities during the day but we did not participate ( you weren't forced!)Some of the live acts were a bit poor but good for a laugh!

ANYTHING ELSE?!;
Generally we were very impressed with the hotel and facilities. We went in October and it still averaged 30 degrees so got a great tan! There were a lot of older people (beware of the topless ones!) when we visited but I'd imagine it is mainly young families in the peak season as it is geared up for them.The only things that disappointed us was the buffet restaurant because of the food and queueing and the bars as the service was VERY slow! but in all would recommend the hotel and would definitely go there again. We went last minute and got an asbsolute bargain and could not fault Direct Holidays - very professional! thanks!

Resort of Alcudia is excellent with something for everyone. The beech is 8 or so miles long so you will always find somewhere to sit and its never overcrowded.

The hotel has a rating of 4 although it was a 3 star hotel with great childrens entertainment. The rooms were adequate although it reminded me of staying in Butlins a few years ago!

The food was good (stayed Half Board) although you had to pick a sitting (6-30 or 8-30). The 6-30 sitting was always busy mainly with families.

Breakfast was a free for all as you had to find your own table.

Evening entertainment was very good although again aimed at children.

Good hotel to stay at if you have children (we would go back when we do!) but I would not recommend this for anyone else.

The hotel itself is 3 miles from the main resort and the buses were not very frequent.

Have just returned from 2 weeks at the Pins and all in all we have had a very good holiday. Having read the reviews, we went with an open mind, as a holiday is what you make it. The coach transfer was a bit long as it stopped off at about 6 hotels before ours, but as soon as we got there we were shown straight to our room. We thought it was a bit on the small side, as we only has a 1 bed app with two teenagers, but they had a bed each in living room and we had a double room with large fitted wardrobe, so it was sufficient and very clean, had everything you needed for self catering. The maid came every other day & emptied bins everyday.

The complex is a bit out of the way from main part of Alcudia, but it was only 9E for a taxi, which for a family of four, worked out around same as bus and alot quicker & more comfortable. Near the complex though, there are a few restaurants, pretty good value, the best one been Bulls Steak House right outside, best flame grilled steak I've ever had! 

If you fancy a bit of English entertainment, the Underground bar round the corner is a good laugh, fun & games and karaoke, and they do a great brekky for those self catering on a morning. The Pins entertainment was OK, couple of tribute bands, but it all shut down at 12 'o' clock, even the local bars. This is OK if you've got little kids, but if you want a drink after this time, the only option is the Spin Disco on edge of complex, which is fine if you want to be reminded of your youth club days!

As previous reviews mentioned, the pool is really busy. We didn't bother fighting for sunbeds, as the beach is right on the doorstep and is the most beautiful beach I've seen. Clean, white sand and you can wade out for at least 100ft and your feet are still on the ground, and the sea was so blue, it was like paradise. You can pay for sunbeds on beach, but is best to buy a couple of lilos, which are really cheap and lie out on those with your towel. We walked a bit further down towards C'an Picafort where it was a bit quieter. 

One day we walked to C'an Picafort along the shore, 4 hour round trip, but if your feeling fit, is a good way to spend the day & catch a tan! If you fancied a swim in a pool, you could go to the next hotel, if you turned right at reception and past the Supermarket, over the little road and through the gate, to the Playa Gardens. It was a much quieter and deeper pool and you didn't get blasted with a water gun at point blank range every 2 mins! Plus they also have an inside pool and sauna you can use.

I'd say this hotel is great if you have kids of up to about 12, but not much to do for teenagers, but they made thier own mates and were off most of the time anyway. There was Go-Karting in C'an Picafort. You will have to get a taxi as it was a bit out of way, but it was only 7E. Go- karting very expensive though at 15E for 8 mins, and they always want to go again. The Hydropark water park was really good as well.

Like I said at the beginning, all in all we've had a great holiday, the weather was hot and the beach is beautiful. A holiday is what you make it!

Although these apartments are advertised as in alcudia they are not but dont let this put you off as alcudia itself is easily accessable by the regular bus service outside the complex,downside to this is the buses got realy full.The bus also went to Can Picafor which we found a really nice place lovely promenade to sit and eat an evening meal right by the sea although all restaurants seemed to have same menu.Better to eat before 8pm as thats when happy hoour begins and places fill up quickly.

As for the complex i was surprised at how big it was and after reading the reviews on this site was a bit sceptical but the first choice we had been given was the BelleVue and having stayed there about 10 years ago and hated it decided to try the Pins.

I found that the staff were all friendly aand the rooms were cleaned daily we had a 2 bed apartment but the 2nd bedroom was really small with sliding doors which made it seem more like a large wardrobe,however room was clean and had a kettle,toaster and microwave so no complaints there,did find the air con a bit dodgy at first but reported it and it was sorted.

The pool was nice but all the sunbeds were always taken very early in the morning and were packed very closed together,but as the beach is just out of the back of the complex this wasnt a problem,beach was lovely,sandy,with shallow clear water for quite a long way out.

Although we never saw the entertainment on site there did always seem to be a good choice advertised only downside was the noice of people coming out of the onsite disco in the early hours.

We went to see the Son Amar show with Airtours great show but expensive at 58 euros per adult but did include meal and drinks is quite a drive though as its in the south of the island.Airtours reps seem ok apart from when we were returning through Palma airport and were told to queue at wrong check-in desk was at front of queue and then had to join the back of the right queue which was annoying to say the least and of course there were no reps about.

All in all enjoyed the week at the Pins,great for kids but not the place for a quiet holiday well not in August anyway.

The Alcudia Pins was the first holiday my partner and I had taken our 3 children on and I can honestly say we had a fantastic time. Take no notice of the malevolent whinges posted on here about the Pins and remember a holiday is what YOU make it !!

The beach is beautiful and the sea is gorgeous and very shallow for a good way out. This was great for our 7 year old who only learnt to swim last year. The pool was lovely with a great slide (which I sampled several times !!!).

If you want a lovely meal with excellent service then visit the Bull Steak House. Straight out of the Pins and turn right, walk about 100 yards and it's the first restaurant on the left. Also for a great night out, get to the Muro Underground bar. Again straight out of the Pins, turn right and walk straight until the road ends then turn right towards the beach. Excellent bar with excellent food, great entertainment for all the family with a good quiz plus a bit of karaoke.

The reps are great at the Pins and they work really hard. The entertainment was good, sometimes a bit corny but when you've had a few beers it's a giggle !! The kids loved the entertainment and the beauty of the complex was they could come and go as they pleased and you're not left worrying about them.

I could go on and on and I would be here all day. I can honestly say that if you are taking your children on holiday then go to the Alcudia Pins. You will have plenty of time to relax as there is loads of stuff for the kids to do (you will hardly see them !!) 

Excellent holiday, excellent place. 

We would definitely take our children there again.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

This resort is aimed at families with children of all ages. Although we didn't have any children with us it was a joy watching other peoples having such fun. Our apartment was clean and had everything we needed.  Maids changed our towels and cleaned every other day and our beds were changed twice in the week. Having landed late at night we were delighted to find a boxed salad ,cakes, fruit and water waiting for us in the fridge.
The hotel staff were helpfull. Public areas were clean and tidy. Supermarket was not overpriced and food and drinks from the cafe and bar were reasonable.

There was something going on the whole time if you wanted to join in. The entertainment team were first class and worked very hard. Everthing closed at midnight and I didn't find any excessive noise after this time.

The beach was wonderfull although to pay for sunbeds everyday can prove expensive. 

I think the only downside is the dining room, its a bit or a scrum, but then with so many guests its only to be expected.

I will be coming back to the Alcudia Pins, but next time I will be bringing my grandchildren.

The hotel looked wonderful from the outside. 

We were given a room near some big dustbins that smelt terrible,when i asked to be moved we were refused because no other room was available. The maid came every 3 days but did'nt seem to clean very well, just a quick mop of the floor. 

Meal times were quite hectic even though we'd been given a allocated time to eat.Our time was 8pm this ment that we did'nt have time to catch the bus to port alcudia.There was'nt a lot to do as the hotel was a long way from port alcudia,the busses stopped running at 8.30pm and it was hard to find a taxi back to the pins hotel,where the entertainment only seem to cater around small children up untill 12 midnight. We never got to sit around the pool because towels were put on the sun loungers around 5.30 in the morning and they were no loungers with any sun shade anyway. 

The beach loungers were 7 euros this could run expensive over a two week period. To see the Dr on site is 70 euros,and with no chemist near by you were stuck with that Dr. I did't find the reps very helpful at all. On our last day we had nowhere to keep our suit cases as the keys to all the lockers had been taken either the night before or very early in the morning, when I enquired that I had nowhere to store our cases for the 8 hours untill our bus arrived to take us to the airport,all that was said is that the hotel has no control over the lokker keys and that some people had taken upto 3 sets of keys,so my daughter and myself were left to walk around with our cases untill we left. there were about 9 familys with the sme problem.SO WATCH OUT FOR THE LOCKERS ON DEPARTURE. 

The room had a 2 ring cooker,microwave but no kettle. the small bed that you can pull out in the lounge area was really dirty.This holiday was a waste of money.

we were dreading going after seeing some of the reports and cuz of the problems last year, but it was brilliant! the staff are great, the kids club is huge and on 3 times a day! the hotel grounds and rooms were spotless as was the pool!! we hate the beach normally but we loved the one here. entertainment on every night and the entertainment staff are great, especially phil and janet. everything available onsite and not over priced same as in town. we would def go again and recommend it to anyone.

Was a bit worried about Alcudia Pins, originally booked Bellvue but changed as it had no air conditioning. Didn't realise Alcudia Pins had been the hotel with the pool trouble last year. When we got there they tests the pool twice a day so don't worry. On one day they asked everyone to get out whilst they added more chemicals so they are taking no risks....

When we arrived we realised it was quite a way out of Alcudia definatley not walking distance!! But first impressions of the hotel were good as it has a lovely reception area and the pool area looked nice.

Was allocated a ground floor apartment in Block B. When we walked into the apartment we were disappointed although the room was clean it was quite shabby and needed a refurbishment. The cooker didn't work and some of the equipment in the kitchen needed replacing.However the cleaners are very good they emptied the bins avery day, we had clean towels every other day and the bedding was changed 5 times over the 2 weeks we were there.

We were self catering but did pay for breakfast a few times in the hotel. It was 18 euros for two plus toddler but there was everyting you could imagine for breakfast and we found we wern't hungry until the evening. There is a beer garden at the front of the hotel with had a grill the food it was inexpensive here and lovely. The resteraunt on the beach was also very good but a little expensive. The Underground bar nearby is OK if you like English pub food and quizzes and bingo. It has a good kids menu. The paella at the local resteraunts around the hotel is horrible don't be tempted.There is a good supermarket on site also.

C'an Picafort is nearer to the hotel than Alcudia and worth a look but the gem of the holiday was Alcudia Old Town which we went to by accident it is lovely and has some great 'spanish resteraunts'. We had tapas and it was fantastic. It was 15 euros in the taxi but worth it.Alcudia itself is nice but very touristy!!

Our daughter is 22 months and we found there wasn't enough to entertain her as the hotel was geared up for older kids more, the playground was ok but the swings didn't have baby seats for instance. The childrens pool was fine though.There is pony rides outside the hotel on well looked after ponies which is well worth the 4 euros per ride, it kept my daughter happy throughout the holiday.

All in all we had a good holiday but I don't think we would go back due to its location and the block we were in was very noisy due to the night entertainment my hubby needs a holiday now we are back due to lack of sleep. We did try to be moved but the rep and the hotel staff were not accomodating to say the least! If you have older kids and you like to be entertained you will have a great holiday. The hotel was OK not as bad as some of the reports on here. Ive stayed in better but Ive stayed in a lot worse.

Enjoy if that is where you are heading....

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

My girlfriend and myself booked 4 star allocation on arrival in Alcudia with Airtours.  We researched well before booking and due to the non-availability of other 4 star places in Alcudia we were pretty sure we were going to Alcudia Pins - which is where we ended up.

To start with the name "Alcudia" Pins and its description stating it's location is in the resort of Alcudia is rubbish.  It is over 5 miles from the centre of Port de Alcudia (the main resort area) and in actual fact is so far down the bay that it is much closer to the resort of C'an Picafort.

As a result, is is situate in a remote part of the bay, with very little in the way of alternatives for shopping or eating.  This, unfortunately, means that for those those who have not hired a car or are prepared to use public transport, will have to pay the over-inflated prices in Alcudia Pins or the small number of surrounding establishments.

This is a massive complex with over 500 rooms contained in 9 blocks.  The reception area is quite impressive and spacious.

There is a large supermarket beside the front of the complex which is excellent.  It is well stocked with many "home brand" British items and for a short walk to here you can get your ice cream at half the price they charge by the pool.

The bus to Port de Alcudia is only 1.15 Euros each, but the last bus back is at 10:10 PM.  If you want to stay out later then you will have to get a taxi which is 15 Euros.  If you did this every night for 14 nights it would cost you £140 in taxi fares.

However, the car hire is most reasonable when hired from reception. On a weekly basis it only costs 22 Euros per day including all taxes and insurance, and no excess to pay if you crash. I can vouch for this as I DID crash the damned thing into an irate Spanish van driver and got a "so what" attitude when I reported it to the hire company. I felt so good I almost went out and crashed it again for a laugh!

Back to the Pins.  Our one bedroomed apartment was quite modern in design, although we were quite surprised to find that the bedroom was more of a cupboard.  It was found behind two sliding doors and only had about 18 inches of space all around.  Storage space was limited too, with no drawers in the bedside cabinets and only one wardrobe. I think it would be tight on space if you had children and you might find yourself not unpacking too much unless you intend putting your clothes in the fridge.

The maids did service the room on an alternative day basis.  This includes changing the towels, sheets and emptying the bin and nothing else.  You are provided with a brush to sweep the floor yourself.

The reception staff are really good.  They all have a good command of the English language and are really helpful.  The bar staff are not so friendly, especially at the "Beer Garden" bar at the front of the complex.  It is hard to get served here.

The degree of unwanted noise experienced is dependant on which block you are in and indeed which side of that block your apartment is on.  If you are in one of the blocks that surround the pool and your room is on the inside then you will get noise from the pool area during daylight hours, and from the outside nightime entertainments until midnight.  If you are above the restaurant then you will suffer from the disco until 4am.

You only then get a couple hours break before deliveries start and what sounds like beer kegs being shifted around.

The walls between apartments are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING that goes on next door.  We were lucky to be beside a lady that seemed to agree with everything her husband said each night.  ("Oh yes! Oh yes! Oh yes!")

The pool and surrounding area is in no way big enough for the capacity of people trying to get around it.  Despite notices requestion the non-reservation of sun loungers people are up before 7am putting towels down.  Even then, the beds are on top of each other - packed closely together.

The undersized pool area also means that the pool itself is always full.  If you wanted to spend a few quiet minutes there to cool down, you are forced to choose between

(1) being hit in the face with one of a vast array of balls being thrown or hit around

(2) jumped on by some child trying to impress his parents on how he can ignore the "No Diving" signs or

(3) being run over by a plastic crocodile, inflatable rowing boat or someone whose bikini disappeared up their fat backside several days ago and has not yet been surgically removed because of some exclusion clause in their holiday health insurance.

I found it strange that there are no sun parasols in the complex at all.  You can step out onto the beach and pay 10 Euros for 2 beds and a parasol, but why should you have to increase your holiday budget by 140 Euros?  This is poor for a so called "child friendly" complex.

The standard of entertainment is much as you would expect.  A lot of effort, but I suppose OK if you are in to that sort of thing.  It is held outside on a small stage area which is surrounded by HUNDREDS of tables and chairs.  The queues for the bar are long - and too long in my opinion for the price of the alcohol.

We never used the self service restaurant as the whole idea of it put us off.  Here there are two separate sittings.  One at about 6:30Pm and the next at 7-45PM.  We saw people queueing up well before these times and the queue was really quite long before the door opened. 

This was explained when we overheard people saying that you have to be in first to get the food!  It seems that they only prepare a set quantity of food and if you are at the back of the queue then you might not get a lot of choice.

However, there is an A La Carte restaurant at the rear of the complex.  This is really quite good.  The "Manuel" type waiter is comical and friendly and if you order the most expensice bottle of wine (at 21 Euros) he make a big fuss, smelling the cork etc.  The food is well presented, and the menu strangely varied, with everything from duck and orange sauce to burgers and Nachos!  Well worth a visit though.

The pizza place at the side is great for a simple cheap lunch.  The burger bar is of good quatliy but a little overpriced compared to what you might pay outside the complex.

All things considered we did have a good holiday.  While rated a 4 star complex, it would probably be better suited to 3 stars.  It is not really a suitable holiday for couples.  It is more suited for families with children.  It is difficult to meet people and get friendly due to the large number of occupants. 

The best advice? Rent a car so at least you have a wider choice of restaurants and entertainment.

This was our 2nd time to Alcudia Pins, but we were apprehensive having heard about the problems at the Pins since our last stay.  We needn't have worried. 

The hotel was clean, the rooms were cleaned & towels changed every other day & bins emptied daily.  Beds were changed at least 4 times in 2 weeks.  Facilities were as good as the last time we went.

Main reason we returned was the proximity to the great stretch of beach (we were happier paying 7 euros for 2 sunbeds on the beach than we were to get up at 5:30 to bagsy a sunbed by the pool!)

Halfway through the holiday we found a really nice pub/restaurant - The Underground - go out of reception, turn right at the taxi rank, follow the road for 200 yards past the other hotels & turn right.  The pub is on the end of the road.  It has a good atmosphere & lovely food in decent portions at a reasonable price.

Took a bus ride up to C'an Picafort - 1 euro per person each way & it was a bit less like Blackpool than the centre of Alcudia - would recommend it for a pretty relaxed day out.

The kids didn't go into the kids club but there was nevertheless enough to keep them happy. 
Staff left a bottle of bubbly in the room as we had stayed there before which was a nice touch.
Take plenty brass as it's not cheap (bouncy castle a bit of a rip off at 2 euros for 10 minutes & needless to say the kids want to spend all night on it!)

Overall though we had a great time & I'd recommend it to anyone with kids as they are well looked after.

Was very worried about going to the pins after reading some of the previous reviews but am very happy to say we had a lovely time!! 

The hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms are cleaned every other day and are very well equipped,we had a 2 bed apt and had loads of room and a huge balcony.The staff are very helpful, although we couldn't find a rep very often (as the hotel is relly an airtours one, so if yu want your children to go to kids club and you have booked with direct travel you will have to pay 5 euros per child, er session!!!

The entertainment is there if you want it but we found it a bit much so spent most days on the beach (which is right out the back of the hotel) and 2 sunbeds and parasol was 8 euros, and we got a taxi into alcudia most nights (about 7-8 euros-much cheaper during the day)where there are many bars and restaurants.

Outside the hotel there are a couple of restaurants (the bulls steak house is very good) and pony rides, trampolines and arcades, few shops and couple supermarkests but if you fancy a walk turn right at road out of hotel (past trampolines etc) and keep walking for about 20 mins (past some very posh hotels) and you will come to a lot more shops and restaurants and they have a taxi rank if you can't face the walk back.

All in all we really enjoyed this holiday and although we probably wouldn't go back, if you have booked to stay here you will enjoy it.

After reading mixed reviews on this site I was a bit apprehensive about this holiday, especially after last years trouble. That all forgotton after we arrived at the hotel.

We got to the Alcudia Pins at 11pm on a half board basis and after the flight and 1 1/2 hour transfer were all tired and hungry. Room was nice and clean and Salad, bread and sandwich meat was waiting for us as well as 3 bottles of water, this was a welcome suprise.

Buffet food is good and choice is good, although being typical Brits abroad chips are always available and there is plenty of choice for children. It can get busy on the dinner sittings [we were 6:30pm] but get your timings right and it is ok. Breakfast consists of a cooked English of sorts, cereal, cold meats, fruit and pastrys, so you can eat a bit healthier if you want. You will put on a few pounds with all the cakes after dinner!

Pool area was wonderfully clean and sunbeds were put away at night and put out again in the morning. Guests left litter around that was cleaned up by staff even though bins are everywhere and although we found the pool to be a bit cold [May remember!] the beach was glorious and sea clean. No trouble getting a sunbed any time of day around pool, beach ones are 2euro or you can sit towels for free.

Airtours trips out are expensive, but I beleive very good [made our own arrangments], we hired a car and went to Alcudia water park [15euro for adult, children under 5 free] and caves of drac [8.50 euro, children under 8 free] and know the reps wanted a lot more for this. Visited Palma, wonderful city with so much to offer everyone, shopping, beach, history and loads if childrens play areas. Puerto Pollensa is also lovely and well worth the 2 euros on the busy bus.

Kids areas at resort great and although entertainment is a bit on the loud side until 12am we were so tired after a great day we did fall asleep easily we were in block F. Kids disco great, entertainment team try really hard and my child loved it.

Beer is about 2.50 euro and wine about the same from Bars, don't get Jack Daniels and Coke [5.65euro. Buying from bars in resort is a bit more expensive, as are ice lollies and snack [you are on holiday though!] Supermarket is well stocked and unless it is a well know UK brand, prices are comparable to uk. Water is 1.50euro for 5 litres, beer - San migul 1.20euro for a litre. We had a big breakfast, bought a bit of ham and bread for butties and had a good tea.

Overall, a holiday is what you make it, we had a great time and would visit Alcudia pins again as the hotel and staff couldn't have been nicer.

The first time I have been to Alcudia and i will definatley be going back.  The pins was fantastic right on the beach and only a bus ride into the town centre for resturants and pubs although there are a few around the site. Two supermarkets and a few other shops also.  The apartments were excellant and cleaned every 2nd day,well equiped for those going self catering if you don't want to eat out. The weather was fantastic sunshine all week. The Pirates Adventure Show in Magaluf was excellant this can be arranged with your reps who provide transport there and back.

the resort itself was excellent, even though alcudia pins is quite a bit away from things you can still enjoy the things that it has to offer.
From arriving the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The entertainment reps were also excellent they offered different shows evey night from kids talent shows, proffessional singers to adult entertainment and also the reps dancing the night away. the reps provide day activities aswell which can include adults aswell as kids.

the food was also great i went self catering but if you fancy a meal then you can buy your tickets for the buffet.
i would definately go back again. its more a family resorts or couples but there is also a disco there for the young ones. 

all in all a fantastic holiday!!!!!

Took My parents on their first ever holiday abroad and went to the Alcudia Pins.
I had requested a room with a see/pool view since my father is in a wheel chair.
When we arrived the view was of a car , and the back of an on looking hotel.
Went straigt to the management who sorted it the problem in 5 minutes and the result being a fantasic view over the beach.

The food was first class with no complaints from any of my party, The hotel grounds were kept spotless, and the rooms were of a high standard too.
As for the entertainment it was great, my mother who is partial to bingo was pleased there was one game every night and then the shows after were first class.
Anyone going herre should go into the main bar just after the welcomming meeting and watch the reps rehearse then you will see how talented and hard working these people are.
Its true in some reports you may have to trave a short distance to get more pubs but at the most your speaking of a 7 euros in a taxi.

I would recomend this hotel to any one with small children.
I give the pins 9/10

Second time at the Pins but this time with one of my duagters' two friends.

We love Alcudia and the fantastic beach and have never had any problems at this hotel. Must point out straight away that I saw the pool being tested (water samples) every day and also it was cleaned out every day.
First time we went we were self catering and this time we were half board and found both the breakfasts and evening meals really good. They must have been to satisy my wife who has until this holiday never eaten in restaurants abroad.

As it was early in the season (weather wasn't very good) it wasn't crowded and I have to say (reading some of the reviews) that people should realise before booking that it is, in high season, very busy with kids and subsequently quite noisy - but this has never bothered us.
The rooms are good (even with half board you have fridge etc)and the facilities on site (shops, fast food etc) are excellant.

The girls enjoyed themselves down the road at the "Cheers" bar and other places, so much so they never got back to the hotel until the early hours (I'm sure no alcoholic drinks were involved!)

My only bad comment about the holiday was we flew out with Air Europe and the meal was pathetic (sandwich and small kit kat and we were charged for a soft drink for the girls)but coming back with Spannair we got a fantastic breakfast along with excellant service.

If you are visiting Alcudia Pins, i wish you the best of luck.
The cleaning service was a disgrace, the linen was changed once in the whole week along with the towels in the bathroom.
The dining room was a joke from start to finish. There were greasy plates, a poor variety of food, with the exception of the green mould growing on the bread!!
The hotel was located in the middle of no where so you had to catch a bus to find a decent pub.
to add further insult the entertainment was almost non-existent so you had nothing to do on a night but twiddle your thumbs.
The hotel grounds were clean but unfortunately nothing else was.
So we did not really enjoy our stay in the Alcudia Bins Resort.

This was our first visit to Majorca and we stayed Half Board at the Alcudia Pins.  The place is on a fantastic beach location and the pool area is gorgeous.  But we did not get to try out either very much at all.  It was the Easter holidays and the weather was awful. Plenty of rain, wind and storms unfortunately not too much sun!!! But my 7 year old who is a little bit hyperactive and very hard to please especially without swimming, says its the best holiday that he has ever had.  IT WAS ALL DOWN TO THE ENTERTAINMENT TEAM WHO WERE ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!  They coped with the bad weather brilliantly and made sure we all had plenty of activities and entertainment going on indoors. It was the first time we had booked a holiday with activities for children and we will definitely do it again.  We all know if the children are happy the parents definitely are!!!!

A Holiday is what you make it can not fault accomodation or staff. Plenty going on for older kids only critisism is that Soft Play area was never open but i accept it was early in the season so mabey it will open eventually.
A few places near by to eat at reasonable price a 30 minute walk and much more choice

It was not until after i booked this late break and read the reviews that i relised the problems it had last year, but decided that it would not spoil it as the apartments and complex would be extra clean and improvements made.

We got to the "Pins" just before midnight so we had to wait until next day to look around. The "Pins is a big complex located on a fine sandy beech. The pool is large and there were plenty of sun beds but i can imagine that in peak season there could be a problem getting one, so use the beech.
For kids there's an amusment arcade which will drain any parents money. Combined Football and basket ball court, tennis court and swings and slides.
Also day time activities for both kids and adults if you want them. Evening entertainment was quite good.

The rep's will try and sell you all the usual and not worth approaching unless you want to buy something.

The food in the "Pins" was average and the same can be said to the resurants.

The island is well worth looking around. The old town and ruins are great. Take the time to go of the tourist trail and take the bus which is cheap but can get busy.
I'm sure well go back again and the pins will not doubt on are list as the staff were helpful the complex clean and tidy.

Enjoy your as we did ours.

We booked this last minute but couldn't have picked a better hotel if we tried. If you have booked to go here you won't be disappointed.
The rooms are modern well furnished and very clean. the pool is immaculate. The kids loved the water slide and there is plenty of shallow areas for young children.

The meals are excellent!The variety is really good and we never had the same meal twice.
Staff are friendly but the entertainment team are great. The kids have something fun to do from morning till late at night.The kids mini disco has some really fun dances which all you adults will be doing in your seats!
Overall it was a great holiday but i advise you to get taxis as buses turn up when they want and were always full. beach was lovely and clean too.

The weather 9th to 16th April 2004 was unusually cool but on the couple of days the sun was out it was lovely. The pool was beautifully clean but very cold and I couldn't stick it. Having said this we didn't expect hot weather at this time of year. The complex was busy having only opened 1st April (many others were still closed). The beach truly is gorgeous as described by many. The one bedroom apartments were quite acceptable even for 4 people but you do run out of space for clothes and a 2 week stay would be more pressing. There is a laundry service on site which is good, if a bit pricey (16 euros for 5kg load washed and pressed).

The staff and reps were all friendly and helpful. The entertainment is pretty good and yes, can be loud depending on the location of your apartment, but then don't you get that in any resort these days?
My only criticism would be the amount of people on site and the size of facilities available. The pool area although large is swamped by sun bed seekers which must be mayhem in the high season. We saw both worlds, empty in the cool and packed in the sun (and within minutes)!!!

The food in the buffet restaurant was varied and lovely but two selection areas serving lots of people means long queues for each course - worse if you have kids to carry for aswell. Half & full boarders may find this becomes a pain. Also the entertainment area gets full very quickly.

There are restaurants and shops within walking distance but you are actually a few kilometres south of Port d'Alcudia and the area you are in is actually called Playa de Muro. We hired a car and so trips into the main resort were no problem (about 10 euros by taxi though).

All things considered we would definately stay at Alcudia Pins again.

The resort around the Pins is very quiet with only a few resturaunts and a couple of gift shops, you have to get a taxi into Alcudia itself for any real life.

The pins is situated right on the beach which is ideal, the complex has a large pool,and lot's of sun beds, so many infact that it was almost impossible to move around the pool during the day, a real hazzard. the area was also very slippery when wet. The gift shops all stocked the same and were quite expensive.

The entertainment was awful, the worst we have ever seen, The kids party dances were a giggle and for a laugh we bought a cd, as we were led to believe what we were hearing every night [originals] were what was on the disc, don't believe it, it was the worst ever recordings possible, it sounded very much like the entertainment team singing their version of the songs. we thought this bad as a child would have been very dissapointed. we tried the on site disco but gave that up as a bad job to as it consisted of approx a dozen 12 year olds trying to get off with the barmen.
a couple of times the waiter tried to short change us, and when he lost the argument and had to pay us, they then avoided our table for the rest of the night. even when we touched their arm and asked for service they had an excuse why they could not serve us, saying they would be back, but never did. they seemed very rude.

the food on site was nice, but mostly junk food, unless you paid a fortune for the al a carte or queued fo ages for the buffet.

this was our second time at the pins, the children being much younger last time and i can't believe how much it has gone downhill. we will deffinately not be returning again.

We are big fans of the Alcudia Pins, we have been there 4 years running with our 3 young children! We have never had any issues whatsoever with this property or the staff! My children love the Kids club and that is one of the reasons we return every year. Im so glad we went again this summer as the Kids club reps were the best so far, in particular, Jenny, Fay and Pippa. 

All the hotel staff are very friendly indeed (some were also very dishy) This hotel has all the facilities you can ever wish for and set in an amazing location! We'd recommend it to anyone.

great hotel great staff beer little dear buy pints works out bit cheaper but plenty going on in cala picafort easy to get to on bike very flat roads we took kids no problem also visit old boat down on beach front in cala picafort english owned great breakfast
never pay no more than one euro for bus to alcudia drop offs, bar next door to hotel happy hour 10.00 till 11.00  on beach
overall we enjoyed our stay here
pool very crowded but loads of room on beach so couldent see a problem

I have read a lot of bad reports about this resort but for a good value family holiday this is the one.
Plenty for the kids to do (Pool, Beach, Bouncy Castle, Arcade, Play Ground, Entertainment by Airtours staff day and night (Night time entertainment is very loud but always finishes by midnight).
Accomodation was cleaned every other day and has TV, Microwave, 2 Ring Hob, Fridge with Freezer Compartment, Bath with Shower attachment. Basically it serves the purpose.
Airtours Reps and Staff were very nice and available.

Medical Support was excellent - my daughter got Bronchitis whilst we were there and the doctor prescibed 3 bottles of medicine which cleared the problem within a couple of days. He monitored her each day until he was satisfied that all was OK.

Embat Restaurant (best for fish and lamb_ on campus and Portabello Pizzeria/ Tratoria (Best for Pizza and T-Bone Steaks) on the parade of shops outside the hotel were excellent.
Pool water was tested every day and campus kept very clean.
I would go back again.

WARNING:  Please be careful of the windows on the ground floor as my 2 year old son fell through one thinking the other side was the same level .  He smashed his head on the tiled floor and was rushed to hospital.  This was the worst night of our lives and could of been fatal!!! Am only writing this as have just read another report that a child had exactly the same accident and apparently it was not the first. We did report this on our return to UK but were just fobbed off.  If they don't do anything about this someone is going to get killed!!!!!

Apart from the above we thought the best part was the beach, pool too cold, apartments very basic and a little dirty.  Avoid going in September as it rained most of the time.  Everywhere was a bus ride away and be careful as the drivers are mad!  Since our visit have been numerous reports that people were extremely ill due to a bug caught from the swimming pool. Apartments really need upgrading.  Could be a lovely complex because its located right on the beach.  Our son's accident ruined our holiday and even though it states its for families it didn't seem very child proof.

Please dont go to this hotel or expect any customer service from airtours or going places.  Then hotel was in the middle of nowhere, a good three quarters of an hour walk from the town centre, and main harbour.  

The swimming pool was cramped, if you did not get up at 5.00am in the morning, then dont expect to get a sun lounger.  This hotel is billed as kids club themed hotel.  So this is the only hotel i have ever been too, that does not supply sun canopys.  So that you can protect youre children from the hot sun.  This is ludicrious.  The prices on site are sky high for anything, be that food or drink.  But because of its location you are faced with a taxi ride every night into the town centre or pay the over inflated prices on site.

Airtours are offering very over priced jaunts to places of interrest.
ie the caves of drach cosst 50 euros for an adult, and 25 euros for children.
On hiring a ford focus car for the week at 120 euros we visted the caves of drach ourselves at a cost of 9 euros for an adult and kids went free, thats not a misprint kids go free.

Dont bother complaining as we were simply offered a £10 discount of our next holiday with airtours.

Just arrived back from 2 weeks at these apartments.  

They were very clean and apartments are as described, quite basic but all the essentials are there.  We managed to cook some decent meals on the 2 cooking rings.  Maids came 5 days per weeks and new towels were given whenever you needed them.  The hotel bar/restaurant looked really good although we didn't really use them as there were so many other decent places to eat.  The only downside we found to the hotel was the Kids Club, there were not that many children there when we went but our 3 year old was looking forward to the club however some days it was on and some days the reps were nowehere to be seen.  When it was on we found they only sat them down and did colouring, one day there was a bouncy castle which he really enjoyed but it was so hit and miss whether there would be a club he was quite disappointed most days.  Also the evening entertainment started far too late for anyone with little ones, they advertised a parrot show which our son wanted to see but as it didn't begin until 10pm he was asleep before it began.  Out of the hotel there are some great places to eat, try JP's, top of the road turn left and second left at the pedestrian bit, really good 3 course meal for 7.50 Euros.  We even had swordfish which was lovely.  Martins is also good value, first left out of the hotel.  For shopping, try the Eroski shop, about 15-20 mins walk left out of the hotel, way cheaper than the local shops, make sure you take 1 euro coin for the trolley as they don't have baskets.

Overall we really enjoyed the holiday and would go back one day.

We had a 4th floor apartment (penthouse suite!) which I think was abit bigger than the normal one bed ones. Lovely views of sea and nature reserve. Friendly staff, entertainment ok, mini club good. Spent most days on the beach (7euro 2 beds and parasol)as its better with small children, there are also not enough sunbeds to go round at the pool. Across the road is Oasis restaurant which has slow service and gets busy, but has bouncy castles, ride ons and trampolines etc.. for kids which our 2 1/2yr old loved. 

Food ok (when you get it!). We didn't eat in the hotel, there are hundreds of restaurants around, so try them all. Martins (turn left out of hotel and then go left into a pedestrian bit) is fantastic. Julie was great with giving kids what they wanted, not just off the menu food. Also it was realy good value for money too. The best bar to spend the evening is 'royal beach' just across the road - it was a 'little piece of ibiza' and a haven in all the tourist tat elvis impersonator type bars. - Found it on the last night of our hols - DOH - good chill out. The hotel is over the busy road but there are crossings I think this was the only downside really. Go to the big supermarket on the way into Alcudia rather than the spar shops as its much cheaper. 

Alcudia old town is worth a visit and esp on market days. Transfer quite quick from airport as the motorway is finished too! Would come here again.

Have to disagree with some of the other reviews I have seen about these appts.  Yes they are in a decent location, and they are clean and the staff are friendly enough, but they are very quiet.  That may not be a bad thing but if you are used to going in bigger hotels, as we are, you may be disappointed.  

Yasmin and Eveline are very nice, but there are only those two and they seem to have quite an easier life than other hotel entertainers in places like the Condesa de la Bahia and the Fiesta hotels. This is the 3rd time I've been to Alcudia and it is a great place for families with the
